Invasion of the deadmines

This is the story of a group of ten people who have been given a quest to take the deadmines from the defias. After getting inside they find they are vastly out numbered by the defias and cannot escape the endless twisting tunnels of the deadmines. But soon they discover there is much more than defias here and discover the darkest of plots. Will they escape or all suffer to rot in the endless tunnels for eternity.

Part 1: Moonbrook

The desert lands of Westfall were hot and brutal, a group of ten made there way on the old brick road. The travlers were led by a warrior, known as Jace. He carried a sword of pure steel and a powerful shield from Orc caves. He wore silver iron armour with gaunlets of steel. He had black messy hair, blue eyes with the whitest teeth, he took a sip out of his mug and sat down on a nearby rock.

"It wont be long till we reach Moonbrook, once we do its time to siege the deadmines" said Jace in a hopeful tone.

A nearby priest walked foward and took a seat on another rock, he had pure white robes, carried a one handed blade and was smiling. "For years I have wanted to claim the deadmines from the defias, for too long have they robbed these lands" said the priest. "We havent even attacked yet Kavar, lets just take a rest for a minute" said Jace laughing.

A night elf druid and a a dwarf paladin took a seat on a big rock nearby, the druid took a swig of his drink and lied down on the rock. Wearing green robes and carrying a staff on nature, Nemedis was a helpful ally against defias. The dwarf was known as Kron who had been fighting the Defias for many months. With light steel armour and an axe of shinning light he was up for any fight agaisnt the defias.

"Aye me laddy, by the looks of it Defias on the road" said Kron taking out his axe. "Not to worry, Zane take them out" said Jace "The rest of you hide behind the rocks" The group dashed quickly behind the rocks, the nightelf hunter known as Zane wore defias leather armour, he was disguised as a high ranking defias and could ambush them.

"You got it mate" said Zane, although you couldnt see it he was grinning. He walked past the defias and while there backs were turned Zane took them out in one hit. "Although im a hunter, I love stabbing people in the back" said Zane laughing.

"Loot them Zane, we take whatever we can from the defias" said Nemedis, Zane kneeled at there corpses and looted some copper and by the looks of it a powerful mace. "Hey Arzon, I suppose you would want this" said Zane. Another paladin this time human walked towards Zane, he wore dark armour with sword made from iron. Arzon smilied and took the mace, after giving it a few practice swings he was able to shatter a couple of nearby roocks.

"Thanks mate I owe you one" laughed Arzon smashing yet another rock into pieces. The rest of the group consited of a human warlock known as Seren. Wearing black robes and carrying a staff of shadow. A dranei shaman called Xor who wore defias leather like Zane. Kazone, a human warrior like Jace but wore armour forged from the strongest of anvils. Finally there was Dark, a dranei mage in robes of pure Mageweave.

"Okay everyone break time over lets move" yelled Jace continuing down the path once more. Everyone followed him, from ontop of a hill a defias rogue watched the group walk towards the deadmines. As Jace tunred to look at the hill, he was gone.

About fifteen minutes later the group could see the ruined town of Moonbrook, Jace spied them from behind a nearby rock and could see they were unaware of the group. Seren and Xor walked foward, there job was to distract the defias so that Jace and the others could attack Moonbrook.

"Ok, we can give you a while so hurry and take Moonbrook before more defias show up" said Seren "Don't worry, we will be right behind you" said Jace smiling "Come on Seren" said Xor preparing his mace. Xor and Seren rushed off towardas Moonbrook, from here he could see them climibing ontop of the roof.

Xor hid behind a chimney and ducked down, Seren crouched down low so she couldnt be seen. Then Seren struck with a shadow bolt bringing down a nearby defias. The others turned and saw Seren, the defias she had knocked down got up and threw a throwing knife at her. It barley missed her as it glanced a blow on her arm.

"Ok lets go! Kazone, Dark follow me. Nemedis with Kavar and Zane with Kron take Arzon as well, CHARGE!" Yelled Jace. He drew his sword and rushed into the village, atleast twenty defias charged towards the group. Some were attacking Seren and Xor using throwing knifes. Others were climbing on the roof to stop Seren and Xor.

As Xor cracked the skull of a nearby defias he yelled "Hurry up we are under heavy attack!" He then created a totem to restore mana and a searing totem to fire at the defias. Jace lunged foward at the nearest defias, going through his rib cage and in to his heart.

Kazone was buisly slaying any deifas that came across his path, "Oh come on why dont they chalenge us a little." As Dark knocked out a nearby defias he said "This can't get chalenging" As he laughed knocking out another defias he had spoke too soon. Most of the defias in Moonbrook were dead but on the horizon there was atleast thirty.

"Fallback into the deadmines, Nemedis, Kron distract them!" Yelled Jace rushing into the mines. Seren and Xor jumped from the roof and raced after Jace, as he turned Jace could see the most amazing fighting from them. When Dark was the last to rush in Jace could see Kron and Nemedis being overwelmed.

"Kron, Nemedis, into the mines NOW!" Yelled Jace grabbing his crossbow and shooting at the advancing defias. Kron released a burst of flames knocking most of the defias back, Nemedis turned into a cat and disapeared. A few moments later Kron has rushed to there side and Nemedis reapeared next to them.

Jace took out his dagger and threw it at a nearby wagon, it destroy one of the wheels causing it to fall on the defias. The town of Moonbrook was free for a minute or two till more defias showed up.

"Ok then, we are past Moonbrook, now we head for the deadmines" said Jace confindetly

Part 2: The endless tunnels of darkness

Dark tapped his staff on the ground to light it, they were in a house but bellow them they could hear many defias working. Jace slowly crept up the stairs, there were a few skeltons but nothing else. Dark followed on upstairs and moved his staff around, the light shon on a nearby passage.

"Through there I think" said Dark pointing to the passage, Nemedis, Kron and Kazone rushed upstairs making a loud noise. "BE QUIET! We can't let them know we are here" said Jace angrily. Arzon, Xor, Seren, Kavar and Zane quitley followed upstairs there weapons ready. "Bad news, quite a few defias have returned to Moonbrook, if they suprise attack us..." said Kavar but before he could finish Jace said "If they dont know we are here then its fine" said Jace smiling. "Now lets move"

Jace walked quitley theough the exit, no defias but the sound of minning in the distance. He slowly walked down the steps into the tunnl, it was cold and no longer hot in here, but there was no time to consider this for two defias miners were enarby, unaware of Jace and his friends.

Jace lunged foward and brought down the two in a single strike, he searched there bodies and found a strange looking dagger. He picked it up and placed it in his backpack, he continued foward the others following. A few moments later he reached some kind of passage to walk across, bellow was the lower levels. They might be able to skip past the defias if Nemedis attacked.

"Nemedis, jump down there stealthed and annilate the defias down there, we will follow" said Jace drawing his sword. Nemedis nodded and turned into a cat in a flash, then he disapeared from sight. Jace looked down the bottom of the passage to see around seven defias mining the rocks.

Then one fell in an instant as Nemedis appeared, he transformed back into a human then brought down the nearest foe with his staff. The remaining five defias rushed foward to attack, Nemedis brought down another and signaled with his hands the others to aid him.

Jace dived down first and took out the nearest defias, Dark flipped down and shot a frostbolt at a nearby defias, bringing him to the floor. Arzon jumped and smashed a defias skull to pieces. Xor then finished the last with his mace and cheered in triumph. Nemedis lent against the wall and took a swig of his frothy drink, smiling he examined a nearby body of a defias and looted its contents.

Jace beckoned them foward, continuing through the deadmines, as they turned a corner they found th sound had stopped and no defias were here. "It could be a trap" said Dark readying his staff. "Keep your eyes open" said Jace, from a elevated platform the same hooded figure watched them, as Nemedis looked up at the platform no one was there.

A few minutes passed and the group had continued foward no sign of the defias, they arrived at a massive room, ahead of them was the entrance to the main area of the deadmines. As Jace took a step foward, thirty defias appeared out of nowere, there weapons ready. "HEAD INTO THE DEADMINES!" Yelled Jace, reverse stabbing a nearby defias.

Kazone threw his dagger into the face of the nearest defias then jumped over a wooden platform, landing on the floor he rushed into the deadmines. Nemedis followed launching a barage of nature attacks at the defias. Zane took out his bow and fired a double shot, taking out a heavil armed defias. He backflipped over the wooden platform and also rushed into the deadmines.

Jace was busy cutting through the defias when an outcropping above them burst open and an extremly heaviy armed defias warrior jumped down. Retratable claws, spiked armour and a disk launcher, it was a Karakta. Karakta were the most powerful of all defias and were nearly imposible to kill, Xor saw it and immediiatly ran into the deadmines.

Kron threw his heavy axe at the Karakta, doing nothing but breaking his axe. Kron pulled out his hammer ready to smash his armour. "No use Kron, lets go!" Yelled Dark blasting back a defias. Kron stood there for a second, wanting to fight the raced after Xor into the deadmines, Dark following. Seren sent a shadowbolt at the Karakta, only to watch her spell recoil off his armour.

Arzon leaped foward smashing his mace at the Karakta, like Kron's axe his mace broke in half. He Karakta slashed with its claws, throwing Arzon into a wall. Arzon stood up with great difficulty and followed the others into the deadmines. Now Seren and Jace were fending off the defias. "LETS GO NOW!" Jace yelled, Jace jumped over the platform and ran into the deadmines. Seren shot one last spell at the Karakta and rushed after him.

It recoiled off the Karakta's armour and hit the stone wall above the main deadmine's entrance, it collapsed leaving the group trapped. Before the route became blocked the same cloacked defias dived through a small hole at the top of the wall.

Part 3: Trapped in the deadmines

Jace awoke, he had been thrown off his feet by the collapsing rubble. By the looks of it the others had been hit and knocked out, Jace leaned against a wall and his vision restored itself. The back of the tunnel had been blocked off completly, they would have to go through the deadmines to escape.
