Biography
Edit
Jig was born some twenty five years ago on the Broken Isles in the middle of the Great Sea. As he aged he began to show a natural aptitude for the voodoo arts and became an apprentice witch doctor. One day, the humans arrived on the islands he called home and began attacking the trolls. The trolls fought well, but when the murlocs began attacking them as well, the battle began to fall out of their favor. The orcs arrived shortly after, and the trolls allied themselves with the noble greenskins.
Jig assisted in several minor conflicts with the humans, providing support for the troops and placing hexes on the enemy. But the trolls were overrun when a large group of murlocs stormed the islands and took a dozen or so of the trolls and orcs, including Jig, captive. Deep within their underground lair, the murlocs planned to sacrifice their captives to the Sea Witch, the local murloc goddess. Thrall, the orc leader, refused to allow this to be their fate, and broke out of his cell. Rescuing numerous orcs and trolls, including Jig, Thrall was determined to rescue Sen'jin before the murlocs could sacrifice him. Unfortunately, they were too late and Sen’jin was struck down as the orcs and trolls battled to reach the sacrificial altar. Sen’jin’s dying words pleaded Thrall to lead his people off the islands to safety.
Escaping the underground lair, their combined forces fought off the attacking forces of the Sea Witch and set sail for Kalimdor. Vol'jin, the new leader of the Darkspear tribe pledge allegiance to Thrall and his orcs, and followed them to Kalimdor. Jig was happy to ally with the orcs; for one he felt the need to repay them for what they did, and their resources could be quite useful. However, Jig expressed distain for the Horde’s practice of forcing the trolls to abandon some of their traditional ways, such as cannibalism and many other voodoo practices. Still, Jig is glad to be a part of the Horde and still continues to practice many of these now “forbidden” traditions.
The trolls settled on the Echo Isles, where they attempted to rebuild their civilization. A couple dozen of the trolls formed exploration parties to scout the islands, and Jig was the resident witch doctor on one of such groups. The groups retrieved new herbs, animals and knowledge of the land to their settlements. The herbs were studied by the witch doctors for potential usage, and the animals were used for food, shelter and weapons.
Though it would seem that the trolls peaceful lives on the Echo Islands were to be short lives, for the navies of Kul Tiras, in pursuit of the Horde, attacked the islands. With the help of several of the Horde’s heroes, and a little voodoo magic, they managed to fight off the humans and reclaimed their new homeland. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards a renegade witch doctor, Zalazane, began to use dark magic to enslave the minds of his fellow Darkspears. As Zalazane’s army grew, Vol'jin evacuated the islands, and the trolls – once again – attempted to establish a civilization. On Durotar, the trolls build Sen'jin Village, named after their deceased previous leader. After assisting with the construction, Jig took part of the mission against Zalazane, and after much conflict, Jig was present when the axe fell upon Zalazane. Once Zalazane was finally silenced, Jig returned to Sen’jin Village, where he assisted his fellow trolls, providing them with enchantments and remedies for all sorts of ailments (including curses it seems).
Present
Edit
At some point, Jig became bored with waiting for supplies and “patients” to come to him. Because he was limited to the supplies that were brought to him, his voodoo and alchemical experiments came to a halt. After much thought, Jig decided to set out and become a wandering witch doctor.
Appearance
Edit
Jig looks exactly like one would think a witch doctor would look like. A huge shawl-like cloth drapes over his shoulders, dropping down to his knees. Several “earrings” dangle from his large ears, each made of a bone, tied to a string. His ankles are wrapped in cloth, with bones and feathers crudely placed in between them. Two vials, filled with a dangerous looking liquid hang from the crude, tall staff he always carries. In addition to these vials, three bones hang from the top of the staff, tied together vertically on a single rope. Three skulls adorn the pack strapped to his back, shoved through and in between the foot or so wooden sticks jutting from the pack. Several dark-looking totems tangle from the poles, clanging together as the doctor moves. On his neck lies a necklace made of a small skull with a gem placed inside of it; five or so small bones sit on the cord on each side of the skull.
