General Kaizhan "Grim" Zeratul Bloodfang is a fictional character in the Warcraft universe. He is a half-elf and the eldest child of the four children born into the main Bloodfang branch of Northrend - scarred heavily by his past and constantly haunted by its ghosts. Kaizhan is a General adept at hit and run and infiltration and assassination tactics to throw enemies into confusion, and a master of manipulation and illusions. Although Kai is one to strike from the shadows, he doesn't lack the courage to stand in the light.

Although he is a rogue, he has also delved slightly into the arts of a warrior, and learnt the ways of a Demon Hunter, passing the trials of initiation.

The Bloodfang FamilyEdit

The Bloodfang family is a long line of assassins, who's bloodline began with that of a Nathrezim who favoured both the arts of a rogue and shadow magics, and one of the few tribes of humans native to Northrend. The family is split into a main branch, a secondary branch and a numerous amounts of splinters. Due to corruption from a demonic tome which contained arts such as that of necromancy, found over three thousand years ago, by the brother of Zeratul; Velkir. Velkir fell corrupt, twisting the minds of others around him, seperating the whole family in his goals to perfect the arts of necromancy, by experimenting on the remains of the Bloodfangs who have passed, and some who still remained within the safety of the family crypts, hidden beneath the main house in Northrend. Stopped eventually by Zeratul; who managed to rally those who fell into confusion, slaying those beyond help. Being forced to flee he was finally confronted by Zeratul out on Lake Wintergrasp where they were both lost, presumably to the icy waters beneath as the ice began to shatter, the tome found split into two new books, both becoming lost until...

Past LifeEdit

ChildhoodEdit

Kaizhan wasn't blessed with the normal childhood of many, from the age of 8 he was forced to to learn the ways of a rogue, learning to twist the shadows to conceal himself, watching his brother Alkir fail, who eventually took up the arts of a warrior and later exiled, feeling betrayed by Kai and holding a burning hate towards him, he forced Kai to feel guilty for just standing by and watching. Grieved heavily by the exile of his youngest brother, he was forced to carry on, to improve what little fighting skills he had on the wildlife of the land.

By the age of 12 Kai successfully passed the fight trial in which he was required to slay an Azure Drake and obtain it's fangs to fashion a Dragonfang Talisman, a symbol of power and respect amongst his kind. It was during then, that his other brother, Zhakan acquired a strange tome of dark magic, found within the mountains. Over time Zhak and his elders began to change, becoming a twisted version of what they once were, the magics of the book becoming used more often. Fearing there was something wrong, Kai spoke against it, only to find himself branded with the mark of exile and cast away, but not before he witnessed his little sister, Kianti; who was sickly from birth, get beat down by his father, muttering curses. Wandering the barren wastes for days he was eventually found by the second branch who reluctantly let him in and eventually showed some care towards him. But this didn't last long as the main branch soon heard of this and deemed them all traitors, killing man, women and child, Zhak confronting Kai and narrowly missing his heart, leaving Kai for dead, but he survived, swearing revenge over his family.

It wasn't until 6 years had passed in which Kai had survived the wilds, training each day, did he return, a dark, misty night, sneaking into the manor and ending the life of both his mother and father with the ancient family blades. Unable to find his sister and fearing the worse he confronted Zhak, a fierce battle comenced between the two, neither of which backed down. It wasn't until Zhak grew tired that he made a mistake, lunging for Kai with a deathblow and narrowly missing his heart once again, and losing the use of his right arm in the process, leaving his brother for dead once again, Zhak fled into the mist and disappeared.

Wounded greatly Kai sought out a small port, stalling away on the first ship he could find which happened to be on route to Southshore, he left Northrend. However things didn't go well for him still, a storm had kicked up, overturning the ship and throwing Kai into the water only to awake briefly just up the coast from Southshore, with the half-elf Kriann looking down on him. Kriann looked after Kai till he was well, in which during this time, the two had fallen in love. Soon to be engaged they were seperated by the townsfolk of Strahnbrad, condemning both to death for Kai being one of demonic blood; he witnessed Kriann struck fouly and killed on the steps of townhall from his noose, hung up on a tree. Passing out till nightfall, he finally managed to free his hands by dislocating his arm and untieing the noose he hung from, filled with a burning hatred he slew many of those in Strahnbrad, unable to find the body of Kriann he retreated back to Southshore in which he lived under a new name, forgetting his past and laying down his blades, but this didn't last long...

The Scarlet CrusadeEdit

Eventually meeting Mograine and Tirion within Southshore and growing a bond of friendship with the two, he joined the newly formed Scarlet Crusade, although many were weary at his use of the shadows he proved to be a valuable addition to the Crusade nonetheless through many successful skirmishes against the undead, rising to the rank as a Commander within their fold. Upon hearing Mograine's plan to venture into Stratholme to save its civilians he voiced his concern, believing it unreal for the scourge to take prisoners, dispite the fact he was weary of the idea he chose to join Mograine. When they reached Stratholme they found it to be an ambush, fighting bravely against impossible odds they stood surrounded by ash, Kai letting his guard down thinking it was safe was proven wrong as his brother Zhakan, a deathknight burst forth from the ash impaling Kai's heart with his blade, turning him to face Mograine and watch him die at the hands of his own son. Spitting curses in a dark tongue he turned to Zhak, swearing to one day have his heart as a trophy. Kaizhan died shortly after muttering those words at the young age of 21.

UndeathEdit

At first Kai was unaware he was undead, having awoken amidst a blizzard in Alterac with a strange tome chained to his side. Kai wandered around until he stumbled on the Frostwolf Encampment, it was there he stared into the lake nearby, seeing his own reflection, viewing himself a shattered beast, yet was happy with what he had become, void of many mortal setbacks such as fatigue, sleep, and thought of this as a step closer to his goal of revenge. Laughing to himself at what he was, he drew attention to himself and was captured willingly by a group of orcs who presented him to the tauren General, Rajax Bloodhorn, where he offered his fighting skills to them. Rajax, looking down on Kai laughed at his offer believing him to be worthless, it was then Kai fought, rendering several of Rajax's men unconcious. The tauren now pleased offered Kai a place within the Frostwolf legion as a mere soldier, unhappy about this position secretly, he agreed to it nonetheless.

The General's ChallengeEdit

Dispite being no more then a solider, Kai still sought to control the other men, challenging Raj's leadership with any given chance. Rajax soon challenged Kai who without haste accepted, only to be struck down brutally by the tauren, asking for one last chance to which Rajax agreed. Rajax had played into Kai's hands, unaware, he offered his rank to Kai should he win. Pleased with this move Kai charged Raj only to be beat down once again, but this time he fled into the woods, Raj followed, only to find himself haunted by shadows. Kai burst forth from them, striking Rajax with great ferocity and vanishing instantly, eventually exhausted and badly wounded he fell to his knees where Kai made his final strike, appearing before the large beast, recieving the rank of General but looking down on him he sought more for Rajax's foolishness, he took the tauren's right eye, presenting him with a mark of respect before leaving him in the woods.

BetrayalEdit

Returning to Frostwolf Hold, bearing proof of his victory, he was given his General's insignia and from there his rule began and dispite his rank, he was still seen amidst the first line, known for his cruelty on the field and his strange, deathly abilities employed he earned himself the name of Grim or, Death amongst the Alliance. Kai had proved to be a superior General to that of Rajax, however like his former, his only mistake would cost him dearly. Hearing of the stalemate in Field of Strife, Kai ordered a squad of rogues to join him and assault Dun Baldar personally, but just minutes before he arrived to his destination, he was betrayed, his men killed in an ambush, his body coated with arrows when he managed to kill the betrayer, collapsing soon after and taken away and imprisoned in a near lightless prison beneath Stormwind.

The EscapeEdit

A year, rotting within that prison, slowly growing insane Kai learned how to twist the shadows in such a way that he could enter the shadowrealm and 'blink' to another location, otherwise known as Shadowstepping. Upon learning this, he and his friend Halira escaped their cells, their eyes now attuned fully to the near lightless area. The two fought their way out both using strange, deathly abilities on their foes as they fell, both of them with dark tomes hanging by their sides. After what seemed to be hours of fighting the two finally managed to reach the surface, finally free with the moonlight shining down on them they parted ways, only to forget one another, till they met again.

After months of wandering he found himself stood before the remains of Stratholme, the hatred for his brother rising up within him, he charged into the city, slaying all that stood in his way, downhearted that his brother no longer remained within the city as he stared at the remains of thousands of scourge troops, he looked up, and stared right up at the floating fortress Naxxramas, believing Zhak to be there he found his way into it, greeted by numerous scourge forces...
