`eya folks. My name is Keishe, and I’m a mage.
<waits for droning “Hello Keishe…” to die down>
I dint used t’be a mage. Was somet’ing I picked up in ma travels. Good skill t’have, ju know? I kin teleport maself around places, and throw ice at ma enemies and smoteth dem and stuph. Ju know, lotsa powa.
But dat’s not wat I’m ‘ere t’talk ‘bout t’dey. T’dey I’m ‘ere t’tell ju ‘bout before I was a mage.
Ju see, I grew up in a nice ‘ome, wit a nice mom and a nice dad, and nice neighbours who t’ought I was jus de most aDORaBLE t’ing eva. I’d say stuph like “Behold my powa!!” and dey jus ruffle ma perfectly spiked ‘air and say stuph like “Awwwww, isn’t she cute.” Pleh! Cute?! Sleet and rain from da skies isn’t cute! Burning hell isn’t cute! Puppies is cute! At least before dey go on de grill. So ya. Cute.
Ma folks avoided de war as much as people could in dose days. Dey were farmers, and dey were into dere plants and dere harVESTS and stuph. De best part of bein’ dere kid, was de stories. Dey had some good stories from before I came ‘round! Stories of eatin’ people ‘stead of plants, and of killin’ people cause ju had to. Stories of adventoor! Of wanderin’ t’rew de mountains and findin’ a valley t’live in. Excitement! Well..’cept for de valley part. But ma favourite stories were de ones that had dis girl in dem, her name was Khandivya. She was a warrior of great powa, and she was de same age as me! I could hardly ‘magine dat. Going out and killin’ t’ings and savin’ people and vanQUISHing de bad guys at six and a half? Dat’s pretty neat. So ya, wheneva I could, I got dem to tell me a story ‘bout her.
Dere was dis one story, where my dad said that ‘umans ‘ttacked dere wanderin’ party, trying t’take dere plants or some’ting *scoffs*. And little Khandivya, she took a big pointy stick and speared one in de gut! Dad said dat he killed a few to, but I dun believe ‘im. Dat’s my favourite one, cause it makes me t’ink that I could be useful in dis war to.
So dis one night, a few years lata, I’m suppose t’be asleep, but I’m not cause I’m not sleepy. I git up fer a drink of wata, but as I’m sneakin’ past ma parents tent, I ‘ear my mom crying in dere. She’s pretty tough, tougha den dad anyway. So its weird dat mom is crying, so I go sit next t’dere tent and listen fer a bit. Dey start talkin’ and I hear mom say somet’ing ‘bout a birthday. And I t’ink, ma birthday isn’t for a while now, and besides, why would she be crying ‘bout dat? So I listen a bit more, and it turns out dat she’s crying cause t’dey is de birthday of ma sista! At dat point I’m a little flusTERED cause I dint know I had a sista, let alone one wit a birthday. And mom lets loose dis story about Khandivya dat I’d neva heard before! ‘bout her being my sista and how she’d been takin’ by de ‘umans and ‘ow she dint know where she was and all dis stuph.
So I git ma wata and ‘ead back t’ma tent before dey notice anyt’ings wrong. Dat night, I’m sittin’ in ma tent t’inkin’ ‘bout what it would be like t’be wit’out ma mom or ma dad and jus be be maself and off adventooring like dey did, and Khandivya did. And I’m t’inking dat it couldn’t be dat hard and I’m like ten, so dats when de guys go off and do de adult ceremony anyways, so why shouldn’t I be allowed t’go? So I pack up ma stuph, and git some food from de food tent, which isn’t guarded like it should be cause de guards are lazy and asleep. And I leave de home I’ve always known.
I was going t’find Khandivya.
I travelled for a long time. Dose first few weeks were de hardest, cause I’d neva been by maself before. But I figured it out, ‘cause I’m smart. And I travelled all up and down de land, talkin’ t’people and seein’ t’ings and havin dose adventoors. But dey are ‘arder work den de stories let ju believe! I dint want t’go back t’ma folks wit’out knowin’ where Khandivya was, and…I dint want t’get in trouble for stealin’ de food and walkin’ away wit’out saying bye or nothing, so I jus kept walkin’.
One dey I came to Booty Bay, which is de most fun place in de world! Dere are goblins and ‘umans (pleh!) and dorfs and elveses and trolls and orcs and all sorts of people! And dey’re going all ova de place, lookin’ fer t’ings and looking fer people and tryin’ t’kill people and doing adventooring stuphs. I found maself a job dere, and a home dere and I stayed fer a bit. At first I was still really small, so I found maself a job wit de thieves guild, doin’ small t’ings fer dem, but really for de tavern takin’ drinks t’de people. Afta a while dis guy said dat I had de maGIC inside me, which I always t’ought of as de VOODOO and so den my job changed and I spent a lot of years listenin’ t’some old guy talkin’ ‘bout maGIC, but I always t’ought he was talkin’ ‘bout powa, which it turns out he was.
So I’m learnin’ stuph and I’m workin’ in de bar. Dis one dey I ovahear dese two gobbos talkin’ ‘bout dis girl named Khan. ‘e was sayin’ dat if only ‘e had ‘er “REFRESHing point o’ view” dat ‘e’d be able t’finish ‘is work. So I go ova and talk t’ ’im ‘bout ‘er for a bit and ‘e tells me dat de last time ‘e saw ‘er was on ‘is ship, which sank by the way, off de coast of Durotar. I dun believe dat she would die so easy, so I get on de next boat out of de Bay dat’s headin’ t’ Durotar. De captain dint really want me dere, but I told him I was goin’ and he listened on de second try.
We eVENTually made our way to Durotar, I got off, said t’anks to de captain and crew and set off t’ make de rest of my adventure happen. Came into dis area called de Valley of Trials, where all sorts of people were hanging out, gettin’ ready to go beyond de Valley borders. It’s ‘ere dat I met Tatimitzi, an adorable little minx of a troll and Kranik, ‘oo could use a lesson on personal space, and a lesson period, but ‘es a good guy anyway.
So I’m lookin’ ‘round and killin’ t’ings, and hangin’ wit ma new friends. Good times. Den I’m in Razor Hill one dey and Krannie sneaks up behind me and dere she is! Right in front of me is de Khandivya dat I’ve been lookin’ for all dis time! I swear ‘e ‘ad ‘er in ‘is bags somewhere. So I give ‘er de biggest ‘ug eva, and I cry a little, and she’s all confused and stuph. But I tell ‘er de story and it’s all well again.
Dat’s ma story. I’m done ‘ere, hafta go now! See ya!
