Brightmoon Island is the location of the Red Dragon Lakarialstraz sanctum which is located in the mountains of the northern region of the area.
History
Up until the Third War the only living person on this island was the old Red Dragon Lakarialstraz. During the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas Lakarialstraz saved a number of refugees and brought them to Brightmoon Island, that was the first time a mortal stepped foot on this island. During even later times Lakarial also offered refuge for half-bloods in exile. They, and some of the refugees from the Third War have stayed to this day. Now Naga and Murlocs and even some Undead have somehow found their way to this small island. The strange thing about these Undead is that they do not serve the Scourge or the Burning Legion, two of the Undead leaders for example is an orc with a crushed skull and the headless body of Aedelas Blackmoore. The old dragon tries to fight back against them, but it is impossible for a lone Red Dragon to handle this task alone, so Lakarialstraz sends after help from both the Alliance and the Horde to aid him in driving these foul creatures out of his home. To prepare for the arrival of the help Lakarial's apprentice Erkolon Flamehawk start building the town called Flamehawk Port. Now, with the arrival of the Horde and the Alliance the threat to the land can finally be defeated.
Geography
A small island with a bay in the southern end where the outpost Flamehawk Port is located. The northern end of the island is a mountainous region with one pass that leads to Brightmoon Hold which is the largest town on the island. In the mountain north of Brightmoon Hold the Brightmoon Sanctum watches over the valley.
