Legacy of Kalimdor takes place in a new continent to the south of all other landmasses, recently discovered by fishermen far off of their usual course. This continent is full of the ruins of both Troll and Night Elf origin, and as such representatives from both races have called upon the help of the other races of their factions to perform archeological digs within the area; to preserve the sights and to learn from the history of both races.
However, when the digs had arrived, it was discovered that the ruins weren't abandoned. Teeming inside were hundreds upon thousands of armies of monstrous creatures unlike anything known Azeroth has ever seen. A third empire of Aqir-descent insects; a civilization of united Gnolls; a race of elf exiles in desperate need; and what's worse, all of this is watched under the dark and tyranical eye of an Old God!
