The Character
Edit
Physical Description: Makhta has light fur with creamy patches and her fluffy mane is now a light gray. Her tired, auburn eyes regard you softly from beneath tuft of hair that pokes from her white, hooded cloak. Her build is solid, but she complains of aching bones and arthritis.
Personality: Makhta is very proud, good-natured and sometimes strict, treating most of her comrades like her children (unintentionally of course). As an older Tauren in young armor, she sometimes feels intimidated by the fresh soldiers surrounding her and would rather try and fail herself then ask for help. She has little patience and her short-temper flares dangerously when she feels mocked or frustrated. She has become a heavy drinker in the past few years, though laughs it off as good fun. She dislikes the rain.
History
Edit
The Beginning: Makhta was born in Bloodhoof Village of Mulgore. She grew up tending to her family’s farm with her father Ohiti Ke, a retired huntsman, and two younger brothers, Ohitika and Wapi. Her mother Skuye passed away while giving birth to Wapi when Makhta was 5 years of age. Their lives were quiet and calm at the time, news of the great wars outside the surrounding mountains never reached their door.
On a warm day during the spring of her 21st season, the Apo Luta farm was approached by two Tauren scouts, sent to recruit any who were willing to serve the Horde and fight under Cairne and his allies the Warchief Thrall and the Witch Doctor Vol’Jin. Makhta was skeptical and declined. Ohitika and Wapi, who had just come of age, were itching for adventure more challenging then beating off the occasional Bristleback. The two left the grasslands of Mulgore, only returning for the occasional holiday or feast. Ohiti Ke was very proud and prayed the Earthmother for their safety every morning at dawn. He also actively bragged about his boys, enthusiastically dreaming up many adventures for them and telling Makhta every one.
A rainy evening in Makhta’s 25th summer brought a visitor to their farm. The young, tired-looking Tauren warrior named Teca Magazu brought word of her brother’s deaths. Both were fatally wounded in a skirmish with the Alliance in the Arathi Highlands, dying of illness from infections at the hospital in Hammerfall. Teca accompanied the family to receive the bodies in Orgrimmar, traveling, interpreting and supporting them the best he could. The brothers were buried near their mother in Bloodhoof Village’s graveyard. After a long, sorrowful month Ohiti Ke passed away from grief.
Teca remained a sturdy support for Makhta, returning to her as often as he could from his duties throughout Kalimdor and overseas. Their relationship deepened, love grew and they wed in the summer of Makhta’s 28th year. She maintained her farm, forwarding as many of the crops to the war effort as possible. The two fought their own battles to the best of their ability for the next 15 years, seeing each other when battles were scarce, which wasn’t very often.
Above the booming of an autumn thunderstorm, Makhta heard a knock on her door. She leapt to answer it, expecting her husband on holiday for the Harvest Festival. Instead she was greeted by a Tauren scout, bearing the same weary gaze she had seen in Teca’s eyes so many years before. He had been killed in the Field of Strife in Alterac Valley by an Alliance cavalry. For his bravery and leadership he earned the name “The Black Wolf” and received great honors from the Frostwolf Clan. In a blur of scenery, strange voices in a foreign tongue, Makhta found herself in Orgrimmar for the second time in her life, receiving the body of her husband. He was buried there with his comrades.
Widowed, alone and unable to bear the weight of memories at home in Mulgore, Makhta approached Teca’s commanding officer and pledged to take his place in the service. It was there in Durotar where she began her training as a hunter of the Horde, just as her father had before her. To this day she strives to master her class, learn the ways of battle and love it the way her brothers and Teca once did.
The Tribe: Makhta was a loyal member of the Stormcaller Tribe. (insert Stormcaller histories heres). Upon being disbanded she was a short term member of the Twisted Blades and then the Duskrider Tribe.
The Valley; No longer able to follow the path of the Tribe and disgusted with the invasions on Outland, Makhta chooses to deal with a pr....ack TBC
