Young Zjinga wasn't expected to amount to much. Not quite in a derogatory sense, but given how gifted her older brother Daako was, Zjinga could have lived a quiet contented life in Sen'jin Village with a mate of her choosing, with her family name and honor secured with her brother's greatness. Daako displayed in his early childhood an affinity for magics, an affinity as broad and untapped as a mountain river. As such he was quite expected to become either Priest or Mage, rumors circling the quiet fishing village that Daako stood the chance of being sent to Yojamba Isle to study with the Zandalari there and refine his talents. (And for the outcast and dwindling Darkspears, having a solid connection to the eldest tribe was a welcome change from a decidedly-nasty bout of bad luck starting with their flight from Stranglethorn Vale.) Yet as these things tend to happen, Daako took it upon himself to decide he wanted none of the esteem. He practiced Troll Voodoo in secret (and later quite openly) and dabbled in the arcane. Combined with a strong love of certain hallucinogenic 'juju', the young Troll quickly fried his brain beyond repair. After permanantly searing his hair off discovering his love of Fire magic, it became quite obvious that Daako was aiming to unintentionally shatter his destiny and mar the D'hanu name.
Four years younger than her brother, Zjinga had become quite fond of the wild, often wandering off to the little islands of the Echo Isles to find some semblance of her Jungle Troll heritage amidst the beasts and tangled vines. Considering her brother's ineptitude with even simple tasks now, Zjinga had taken it upon herself to provide for her family and carry out the tasks normally reserved for the male of the species, along with looking after her addled brother as a sort of permanant baby-sitter. Already a budding tomboy, her new life as a Hunter suited the rough-and-tumble Zjinga quite well. The responsibilty of saving her family's face from Daako's gross error in judgement soon had her sent off to the Valley of Trials, where she refined her skills and soon adopted her first animal companion, a lean orange tiger she dubbed Rajah. As she grew in proficiency and attunement with the wilds she sent Rajah back to the islands she'd tamed him on, knowing that neither of them were content with the partnership. A short time later during an expedition and errand-voyage to the Wailing Caverns, Zjinga found what she knew would be her lifelong confidant; a lithe black raptor from deep within the twisting cave. He was cunning and quick, inherently wary of the world around him, and perhaps a little mean and a tad on the vicious side. Naming him Naaza, the love-hate relationship between Hunter and pet was a bit of a messy one. Providence won out in the end, and the beast eventually grew inseperably-close to the woman who spoiled him rotten with treats and long hunts in the arid Barrens (and who at times allowed him to share her bed like a housecat, provided he kept his claws to himself). The pair have been inseperable ever since, Naaza even a bit over-protective of his 'owner', and Troll and Raptor appear to not only communicate, but conversate.
Though she set out from Sen'jin to keep the D'hanu from becoming a laughingstock amongst the Darkspear tribe, Zjinga has developed her own personal reasons for embroiling herself in the ages-old war between Horde and Alliance and Burning Legion - for fun of course! Innately mischevious with a deep love of anything shiny, the sugar-sweet and optimistic Troll has found that she's enjoying herself more than she ever did as an unconsequential daughter back in Sen'jin. Often a more than a little disheveled from her adventures, tattooed and ears peirced with fangs, and displaying a knack for wearing the most eye-wrenching combination of colors she can find, Zjinga enjoys her freedom from housewife drudgery and takes it quite seriously, and any threat to that freedom is met with a volley of arrows and the business end of a hissing black raptor.
