Niniann Emirelda Moonrest Edit

Niniann Emirelda Moonrest is a female Sin'dorei Spymistress, known for her talent in covert work (tracking, eavesdropping, and general information gathering) and her large number of tricks and effects. Notably, she created the Blood Knight Intelligence Division under Knight-Lord Leon Dawnblade's Blood Knight regiment. By her late seventies, Niniann had devoted nearly her entire life (save her childhood and early teen years) to training as an agent of Silvermoon City, consistently striving (often outside of the law) for the betterment of the city. Her skill sets, from combat to trade and social skills are particularly vast, as she believes a proper agent has no limit to what they may be required to know and preform under the specific circumstances.

Often acting according to the given situation or assignment, Niniann has somewhat of a bland personality when it comes to her true self, having spent the vast majority of her life either training or operating as a Rogue. Often regarded by other Rogues as being 'married to her job', Niniann takes her work very seriously, focusing all of her efforts to her goals without diversion, having inherited her feverish goal of rooting the corruption from Silvermoon's governing powers and creating a better society for the Sin'dorei from her deceased mistress, Emirelda Ishnu'alar, whom Niniann now honors as a part of her own name. By nature, Niniann is brash, light-hearted, and somewhat unrestrained (as she was in her younger years), though conscientiously feels these expressions conflict with her status as a respectable agent. Without a hint of any of these traits, Niniann comes across as a very strict and disciplined operative, emulating the behavior of her former mistress, whom she held an unparalleled deal of respect for. Though Niniann has taken up her late mistress' wishes for a better Silvermoon, she secretly bears some animosity towards the city, another trait which she would never express.

Though Niniann's personality is rife with contradiction between who she is and who she desires herself to be, the woman is disciplined far beyond the range any normal individual.

Appearance Edit

Niniann stands at 5"7, her build a lean and slender one as to remain agile and light-footed. Her right eye bears both a pale scar vertically through the iris which laps just slightly above and below the eye as well. While the blind eye would be otherwise visible, Niniann's short red hair remains brushed over the eye as to conceal the blemish. Regardless of her years of training and assignments, Niniann has made sure to treat all of her wounds (save a few), calluses, and other similar imperfections before they could leave permanent marks on her body should she ever find herself in a position where such impressions would give her away as an agent.

As far as clothing goes, Niniann's dress depends on her situation. Regardless of the attire, she is never without armament. Her usual combat attire consists of dark fatigues and leather armor along with a dark scarf slid up over her mouth. Though she wears many weapons openly, the majority of them are concealed. Notably, Niniann wears a set of gauntlets. While she has been trained to use them both in defensive and offensive alone, they host a number of hidden tools, weapons, and functions which are activated by making specific though abnormal wrist and hand motions as to not activate by mistake.

Though she has a number of dresses differing and style and quality, Niniann is most often seen out of combat in a more formal look. Her attire is generally red, though she often sports black boots and gloves to match. The scarf she commonly wears is draped around her shoulders and neck rather than concealing her face in these types of outfits.

Early Years Edit

"Even if I had the mind to speak of it, I wouldn't care to do so with you."

While her earliest years are unknown to date, Niniann Emirelda Moonrest became a thief of some small renown amongst the Silvermoon Guardians as a teen. Swift and agile, the young girl would ambush merchants and small bands of travelers in search of gold, food or other provisions, be it secretly or by blade-point, within the Eversong Woods. Though Niniann would brandish her weapons upon travelers, rarely did she see any combat, choosing often to escape from the city guardians and less intimidated victims who would draw their weapons in return. While the guardians attempted to arrest and even ambush the girl on multiple occasions, the light-footed girl would always manage to slip away.

As the guards began to increase the frequency of their patrols and merchants began to more regularly enlist in the services of seasoned escorts, the girl's windows of opportunity became increasingly scarce. In the final months of her mugging days, the girl would often find herself lacking in food, money and necessary supplies. As a result, her attacks became increasingly bold, ambushing armed targets or groups larger than her preference. On a particular night at the peek of a long spell without any successful muggings, Niniann came across to cloaked travelers, both of whom being visibly armed and walking quickly as if with purpose. Thinking it to be an easy job, the girl ambushed the two with her dagger drawn. Upon closer examination, one of her 'victims' was a man clad in Blood Knight armor beneath his cloak (as revealed when he drew a blade from his hip sheath), while the other female, her features hidden save the long curved blade across her back. While Niniann would have normally fled at the sign of weapons and armor, her hunger would cause the lapse in judgment that would lead to her nervous resolve. As the cloaked women first rose her hand to the hilt of her long blade, the same unarmed hand would withdraw beneath the cloak again after motioning for the man to sheath his weapon. Thinking the action to be in mockery, Niniann would charge at the woman on the offensive.

After a few moments of avoiding and countering Niniann's lackluster dagger strikes the mysterious woman would disarm and knock the girl to her feet with relative ease. As Niniann fell, she would be quick to find herself at the end of a now drawn blade, the edge staring her in the eyes with the other end held by a gaunlet protruding from the cloak. Paralyzed first in fear, but then in curiosity as the blade returned to it's back sheath, Niniann was offered a hand. With some hesitation and reluctance, the girl grasped the hand and came to her feet. The night would be her first meeting with Emirelda Ishnu'alar as well as her unofficial induction into the Shadowblade Syndicate.

The Shadowblade Syndicate Edit

"I was challenged, beaten, and accepted before I even realized I had lost my blade. She was someone to be admired, and I did so fiercely."

The Shadowblade Syndicate, a secretive organization originally founded as a group of highly trained assassins and covert intelligence agents for hire by the higher ups of Silvermoon, but later reorganized and withdrawn from the majority of the governing Silvermoon forces post-Third War in order to eliminate the city's corruption by their own accord. The order became Niniann's home. Coming into the fold during the time of the order's second head, Mistress Emirelda Ishnu'alar, the girl found both structure in life and encouragement in her talents for the first time in her life. Though she was surrounded by agents and assassins for hire, it was a peaceful and constructive environment. Brought into the order's hidden manor in the South-Western mountains of what is now known as the Ghostlands, Niniann would begin her years of training and conditioning.

Even among her peers and superiors, the girl expressed a great deal of talent in covert skills. Tracking, shadowing, and eavesdropping came as second nature to the girl as did her ability to escape and conceal herself from danger. While her combat abilities were on par on the best of days, the girl lacked the composure to kill, be it in assignment or self defense. Though a bit brash and playful at times, particularly early on and as she grew a bit more comfortable with her surroundings, Niniann held a great deal of admiration towards Emirelda, whom served as her mentor. To her, the dark haired woman was not only cunning and skillfull, but she was the embodiment of grace, wisdom, and finesse. Often seen at the woman's side, both on and off assignment, her mistress taught her everything from combat and guile to art and compassion. Much of Niniann's personality to date is emulated from Emirelda and her expectations.

For a number of decades proceeding Niniann's first encounter with Emirelda, the girl would devote herself fully to her training. Her days, without assignment, would be spent sparring against other order members and practicing her combat techniques. The nights would be used for studying all manners or information and learning various skill sets in the event they were required for some obscure purpose. Notably, the girl was a learned engineer, her master and instructor, being a Blood Knight and ranking member in the order, Juriel Sukoth, whom she had also met on the first night with Emirelda. Niniann's tireless work and desire to better herself with each passing day was a trait quickly recognized by her superiors. In the years following Silvermoon's destruction at the hands on Arthas Menethil and his undead army, the Shadowblade Syndicate withdrew from the governing circles of the city. Under the leadership of Emirelda Ishnu'alar, the object of the order now became to follow the track of the Magistracy and subsequent individuals in power to both weed out corruption wherever it may be found. For this reason, Niniann began her training as a Spymistress under the tutelage of Emirelda.

Spymistress Training Edit

"I won't deny you of this training if you so wish, but realize and consider the weight of your decision first. You may no longer be 'you' by the time we finish."

In regards to the changing agenda of the order, Niniann's talents and devotion was what spurred the early start to her Spymistress training. Though Niniann's brash personality over nearly forty years of intensive training was still largely intact to this point, her training as a Spymistress would diminish it significantly. Her demeanor became colder, her expression blank, and mind increasingly wary. The training of a Spymaster was not only to in stealth or combat as her previously instruction had been. It was the ability to adapt in any setting to any skill set that could possibly be required. To use a rough form of telepathy to skim the surface of the minds of others, whether in or out of combat, and address the situation in the most appropriate way. It was at a level just under the impossible, but with Emirelda to guide her through the process, Niniann would strive to reach the level of her Mistress without tire. Though fully devoted and largely content, Niniann would never fully complete her training under her Mistress.

The End of the Shadowblades Edit

"You know, they say only the ones who are truly strong are able to live in our line of work without killing their emotions."

"What about you?"

"Myself? I tried, when I was younger, but I wasn't able to."

Between rumors and her own investigations on the matter, a seventy year old Niniann would personally confirm a number of murders of not only the informants of the order's information network, but dozens of their own trained operatives, all occurring within a shocking short period of time, it was not only clear that the organization was being targeted, but that their attackers had an intimate knowledge of it's inner workings. Following the orders she had received by her mistress, for all order members were to immediately return to the manor, regardless of assignment. Far from Quel'Thalas on business, Niniann would return at once, though significantly later than most. Entering the manor however, she would only be greeted with the stench of decay and the sights of her slaughtered friends and kinsman, some bodies still fresh, even. Grasping her blade and steeling her mind for whatever she might see, Niniann tread cautiously into the manor, looking either for any surviving members or those responsible.

Opening each door cautiously, Niniann would come to find none other than Emirelda standing over a a pair of cloaked bodies, seeing her from the behind. Sheathing her blade and calling out to her mistress, the young woman would walk over to the in haste, still in the dark by her own accord as to what was happening. Drawing close, Emirelda's head would cock around. The woman's expression was something else. The look in her eyes as ominous as her disturbing smile. As Niniann would open her mouth to speak, perplexed at the sight of her mistress, Emirelda would turn to bring her long elegant blade up and across the young woman's chest, carving a wound neither shallow nor fatal. It had been much more than simply a physical injury.

Niniann would stumble back, her expression in horrible shock. Instinctively, her hand would rise to the hilt of the blade on her back, but she wouldn't be able to draw it. As Emirelda opened up her footing to take her stance, her expression unchanging, she would inch towards her prey in half-steps at a time. Niniann could only back away at the same speed, clutching her wound and frantically questioning her mistress. Before being drawn into combat against her mentor, Niniann would escape the manor by leaping through a window, painfully tumbling down the rocky cliffs before fleeing as quickly as she could, though without a pursuer. Emirelda would go on to kill many more members of the order after this encounter.

Duel with Emirelda Ishnu'alar Edit

"Resolve? Don't delude yourself, boy. I've killed more important people to me."

Bandaging her wounds and renewing her shattered resolve, Niniann set off after her mistress. By following a trail of Shadowblade related murders and meeting with some of the surviving contacts, she was able to track down and intercept her mistress on her way to her next target. As the two drew their weapons, the master and student broke out into feverish combat, both resorting to each and every weapon, trap, device, and trick she could possibly offer, most of their tools being destroyed until the two only had little other than their swords. Having set an elaborate trap for the woman, Niniann would trigger a series of explosives and throwing knife slings, set all accordingly to her assessments on her Mistress' tactics. Realized an opening in Emirelda's guard, there was a moment of hesitation in the woman's strike. Though the hit seemed to connect, it would take only a split second for Niniann to discover her blade carrying nothing other than her mistress' empty cloak with the swing. As the woman followed through with her swing, her eyes would widen at the sight of Emirelda standing just out of reach, her long blade coming down over Niniann's right eye.

Screaming in pain, the woman fell to the ground, blood running quickly through her fingers over the clutched eye. Having defeated her subordinate, Emirelda stood over the woman, ready to deal the killing blow until being struck by a bolt of holy energy. Being knocked to the ground before springing back up to her feet, the woman proceeded to evade a barrage of several more bolts before vanishing, gritting her teeth the whole time. As Niniann looked up to the hazy figure over her, recognizing the man Juriel Sukoth, her conscientiousness would fade. Waking up alone to find the majority of her wounds healed, though the vision her eye almost entirely lost. Her expression a worn and defeated one, the woman would place a hand to her head for a moment before pulling some of the hair over her blind eye as a sign of her shame. Seeking out her mistress once again, nothing more than a blade in hand, the woman set off into the Eversong Woods after her trail, her mind bent on a single course of action. Niniann had learned everything she knew from her mistress, combat or otherwise. With the realization that she wouldn't have any chance in fighting on equal terms, especially having lost her depth perception in the previous encounter, she devised a new plan, as well as the resolve to see it forward.

Coming across Emirelda, the two would exchange words just briefly, Niniann's previously distraught expressions replaced now by a somber one. She had already accepted what would be soon to come. As the two charged at one another, breaking out into quick-paced combat, Niniann couldn't help but reflect on the last sixty years of her life. Every experience, every lesson, every moment with the woman she had for so long admired. It was a difficult fight without the use of her eye, but it no longer mattered. The plan would set the stage for a simultaneous strike, opening her defense to take her mistress' blade once again while using the opening for her own fatal attack. After a short break in combat, the two charged at one another again, their blades pointed towards one another. Niniann showed a flaw in her guard and Emirelda would be quick to respond. In anticipation, she shifted into the attack and the two plunged their blades towards one another.

Everything seemed quiet, though perhaps it was because the woman had shut everything else out aside from her mistress. It would take Niniann a moment to grasp the outcome. Her sword had pierced through her mistress' chest without fail. Niniann however, had no matching wound to show. Instead, Emirelda's blade would fall to the ground, having been dropped after diverting from its original path into Niniann's heart to just skimming her arm. As the weight of the moment washed over her, the two fell to their knees. As Emirelda spoke her final words, her tone no longer the gripped by the same insanity it had been, she would fall lifelessly to the ground. Shaking violently and covered in Emirelda's blood, she could hardly comprehend the scene before her. She had been undoubtedly outmatched and at the disadvantage. Having accepted her own death, yet still be left alive came as no solace. Niniann could only crawl over to to the body, weeping and for her beloved mistress.

The Blood Knight Intelligence Division Edit

"Don't misunderstand, the Blood Knights are absolutely necessary. They are charged with the protection of the city, but even then, there are some things that even they can't preserve under their own laws. That's where we come in."

Though still grieving at the loss of her mistress, Niniann would spend the next year searching for any of the surviving members of the Shadowblade Syndicate and completing her training as a Spymistress. Already, her mission had become clear. The woman would choose to devote herself to Emirelda's ideals. investing herself into the future and betterment of Silvermoon. With the information network all but destroyed and all of the members in hiding, if not dead, she would only meet a small handful of members whom had choose to instead blend into the public. Regardless of the lack of success in gathering her organization, Niniann remained resolved on her goal, soon coming across Knight-Lord Leon Dawnblade.

While this had not been her first meeting with the man, having been assigned to rooting out some of his corrupt Blood Knights in the past around the time the man was first named Knight-Lord during the middle years of her time with the Shadowblades, Niniann took the time to carefully observe the man and his affairs for a fair period of time. Upon determining that the Knight Lord's intentions, the Spymistress would reacquaint with the Blood Knight to offer her assistance. Working under the agenda of Leon Dawnblade, Niniann would work tirelessly in assisting the Knights with their daily arrests, patrols and training. Notably, the woman gained some renown as an examiner for the Knight's and Knight Master's Tests, disguising and posing as an assassin in need of capture while evaluating squads of Blood Knights on their individual and team performance. It was far from a carefree life, particularly with the woman's wide range of assignments.

Shortly into her career, Ninian would be charged with spying on members of the Crimson Circle: the Magistrate, Blood Knights, Farstriders and other governing powers within Silvermoon in an effort to expose and root out corruption within the upper echelons of the city. Receiving the clearance to form the first Blood Knight Intelligence Division, the woman would spend her years recruiting and training Rogues and Hunters in the same fashion as the Shadowblade Syndicate had, working closely under the Knights, though often outside of the law, with those she had trained.
