General Info

Appearance

Nozz's most striking features are the clockwork replacements for her left eye and hand. A slender line of red draws down her left cheek from eye to jaw, similar to blood poisoning. Her reddish-pink hair is worn in boars tails.

The iris of the engineered eye is a sea green and pale blue; often it appears warmer than its natural ice blue counterpart. The flesh surrounding the eye socket remains a constant, angry red. Where clockwork hand joins arm, the metal is uneven, as if it somehow spread. Its appearance is brushed titanium, and matches the the large rough patch of titanium on her upper left arm. Unseen to most, a flesh tone scarline stretches from hip to hip, curving along her lower abdomen.

Typically the gnome favors fashionable clothing, from revealing dresses to every inch disguised under a black pointy witch's hat, flowing robes and cloak.

Personality

Nozz's personality swings from deep-seated anger to sarcastic amusement. How she interacts with others depends on the relationship with the person/people in question. On good days, she can be gracious and polite. Most of the time she is reserved, and when she does speak, her words are blunt. She can also be cold and downright rude. Nozz seldom falls into the stereotypical bubbly behavior that so many of her kind display, though one can almost be assured that when she is "cheery," it is to mask malicious behavior.

Countering this, Nozz can display a childlike naiveté, and at times a total lack of judgment or concern for ethical/moral behavior. Nozz is more open around people she trusts or even loves, but the capacity for deception and betrayal is still there.

History

There was a time when Nozz Tappet was held in high regard within Gnomeregan. She had been one of the designers behind the Crowd Pummeler 9-60 project and helped develop the Arcane Nullifier X-21. Her mind was sharp enough to comprehend complicated schematics and the intricacies of spellweaving; like other gnomes with the same talents, she sought a way to marry the two schools of thought to produce wondrous items of utility and power.

When Gnomeregan succumbed to the troggs and radioactive fallout, Nozz was crushed. Everything she had ever known was now trapped underground in an environment inhospitable to the living. Her father had perished in the tragedy. Her mother, Charla, had escaped, but with injuries that completely wiped away her mind - her own daughter was unrecognizable. Joining the throngs of evacuees who sought refuge in Ironforge, Nozz felt confident that High Tinker Mekkatorque would rally the survivors and, with the aid of their allies, be able to retake the city and restore it to its former grandeur. Yet as time passed, it appeared this was not to be, and she began to lose confidence. It seemed the High Tinker was content to hole himself up in Ironforge. Talk was made of reclamation, but she saw very little evidence to back up those claims.

Nozz found herself adrift - there really was no suitable, stable place for her to settle down and once again pursue her studies. To make matters worse, the humans and kal'dorei tended to treat her in a shocking manner, reacting to her or any gnome's presence with the simple abandon one might display around a pet dog. While the dwarves were somewhat more tolerant, even some of their kind were prone to thinking less about the gnomes. These were supposed to be their allies?

To hopefully steer her heart away from the growing anger and bitterness she was feeling, Nozz pursued her arcane studies. Boredom quickly overtook her, as her gnomish counterparts did not (or could not) understand her passion for arcane engineering, considering it "too dangerous" and the reason why their entire race had been put into their current predicament in the first place. They were content with the tried and true. Nozz knew that greater knowledge was out there, but that others were too afraid to look for it. As long as Gnomeregan and its engineering labs lay abandoned, she could not pursue her one true love. Accepting that fact, Nozz decided to focus on learning everything she could about the arcane - even the darker arts. If she could wield those powers, she'd finally earn the respect she deserved from her so-called "allies." Even if it came in their final, dying moments.

At the time a willing cult participant, Nozz subjects herself to a cult ritual ...

When the cults came to Stormwind, it seemed her opportunity had finally arrived. Nozz first fell into a Scourge cult. Only at the last possible moment did she escape with barely her life and sanity. At the behest of the group's leader, the gnome went to pursue certain alchemical studies under a most notorious figure in Duskwood. There, she learned to use grave moss and rot blossoms to put nearly any sentient being into a catatonic and highly programmable state - but not without having to experience the effect first. Nozz still cannot recall exactly how long she was under its effects, and what flashbacks she has of the event are too terrifying for her to even put to parchment.

Almost immediately, she was drawn into another group, this one seeking to draw its powers from the nathrezim. Here, the gnome excelled in her studies and quickly rose in rank, surviving an excruciating ritual where, by the Nathrezim's powers, she cheated death. Yet from that very point forward, Nozz felt as if some piece of herself had been lost. When the cults were finally purged from the city, Nozz went into hiding. It was only through the help of forgiving friends that she was finally able to gain some sense of stability in her life.

Some time passed, and Nozz came under scrutiny for a series of Night Elf murders that swept through Stormwind, but was never formally charged for the crimes. It is widely believed that she is responsible for a number of "mailbox dancer" murders, and for the most part people are accepting of this fact. Persistent rumors and allegations have gifted Nozz with a dark notoriety; one of the more prevalent rumors being that she is a Necromancer. Only her close friends know the truth behind these allegations, and one in particular may be responsible for helping to build her notoriety.

Nozz has become fascinated with self-experimentation, purposely amputating and replacing her left hand with a fully functioning and realistic mechanical prosthetic. Utilizing a combination of frayed abomination stitching, crystallized life, and other components, there have been some minor (yet disturbing) side effects not anticipated. She also extracted her left eye, replacing it with a clockwork orb. It is highly possible that she will continue to conduct further research and self-application in the future ...

The Present

Whatever the truth of her actions, Nozz has done a great amount of work for the Alliance and has been rewarded a position of Ambassador. Perhaps because of her brush with the Scourge cult, she also champions the cause of the Argent Crusade. Stormwind is her city of choice. The Ambassador owns a warehouse/loft in the Harbor district, which she uses to design and repair mech, draw up new schematics, and otherwise engage in less sinister activites. Business often takes her to Tinker Town, Ironforge, and the Clockwork workshop located there.

Despite (or because of) her eccentric and at times psychopathic behavior, Nozz has attracted a number of followers.

She has been known to be openly dismissive of the High Tinker and gave backing to the late activist Bequerel Kindlewheel to rebuild Gnomeregan and possibly overthrow Mekkatorque. However, evidence suggests that these days Nozz is no longer interested in pursuing these actions.

Despite many warnings, Nozz was married to Midglet Boltinker on August 23, 2009. The marriage has already fallen apart, to no one's surprise. Despite allegations that Nozz was to be a mother, it is quite apparent that she is not expecting. Her current relationship status is unknown.
