Hello, I am the creator of WoWWiki's hover tooltips, and indeed most of the site's AJAX and other JS functionality. Please leave me a message on my talk page, or ping me on the WoWWiki IRC.

My name is properly styled on the wiki as Pcj. The only acceptable variation to this is all-lowercase, as it is rendered in IRC, pcj.

Other variations on these are unofficial derivations of my name (and all uppercase implicitly refers to my bot, PCJ), and may be frowned upon and/or be subjects of derision.

Where is the actual script for the tooltips located?

It's located at MediaWiki:Tooltips.js.

Can I port your tooltips to another wiki?

Yes, the script is released under the GFDL (with the rest of the wiki). The process of porting the script itself can be very technical, and is not advised if you don't have any experience with JavaScript. The simplest way is to use User:Pcj/simple.js and go from there.

Can you help me port your tooltips to my wiki?

I can, and the easiest way to do this is to contact me via my talk page. Note that to make it as easy as possible I will need administrator access to your wiki (or a test wiki with all the relevant templates you want to implement the functionality with).

Your AJAX-powered recent changes script is amazing! Can I use it?

Yes, and it's actually easier to port than the tooltip script. See w:User:Kirkburn/global.js for an easily-portable version designed for Wikia global.js scripts.

The ads are overlapping the tooltips.

This is a known issue, dealing with how Flash interacts with floating DIVs. I've built in some functionality which makes the tooltips try to avoid the ads but it doesn't always work, and due to the nature of the ads it's not very straightforward to get it to work. A ticket has been submitted to Wikia to see if they can do anything about it. Meanwhile, I recommend registering (logged-in users don't get ads) or finding another way to hide the ads (I'm not going to suggest any).

There's a problem with your tooltips/the AJAX RC...

At this stage (of complete testing) it's either a quirk with some old/new browser, some problem I haven't seen personally and no one else has bothered to report, or Wikia changed something (most commonly the cause) with the skin. Please file a report with the following information on my talk page:

• Page you had the problem on
• Which skin you're using (Monaco, Wowwiki, etc)
• Your browser
• Your OS
• Your screen resolution
• Steps to reproduce the problem
