Skreeran IV was born in Quel'thalas, son of Skreeran III. He was very much elven, in fact, his ancient elven genes, which did not actively appear in his line, were activated by his high elf genes, extending his life span by thousands of years. While he lived contendedly in Quel'thalas for a time, soon the call of the unatamed world took hold. He left to explore and observe Azeroth and did not settle in one place for very long for nearly four millennia.
He plotted out the land of Elwynn before any human touched it, in secret he watched the Atal'ai trolls perform terrible rituals to Hakkar, he saw the Nerubians before the Lich King's influence, he saw a great shadow looming behind the gates of Ahn'qiraj. And all he saw, he documented, mapping out the lands and its secrets.
Unfotunately, he inadvertently made enemies with the Night Elves. While traveling through Ashenvale, he was attacked by a bear. Letting an arrow fly which pierced its throat, he slew the bear. However, he saw that it was a Night Elf corpse which had fallen. Taking ill of it, he moved onward. In but a few days he was ambushed by a Night Elf sentinel hunting party.
While he assured them it was a mere misunderstanding and that he would happily do all he could to atone, Nith Elven prejudice against High elves dominated in the end. He was sentenced to death and imprisoned underground. Nearby, he could hear another prisoner talking to himself. However, before Skreeran IV's sentence could be carried out, he was freed by a Night Elf rogue, who revealed himself to be Tana (Tah-nuh), friend of Skreeran I and II, Tana was a master ranger who survived the Remaking, but gradually had become a Night Elf through exposure to the Well of Eternity and the blessing of Ysera, who had come to love him through dreams while he slept underground through the Titan's wrath.
Tana had been a human once, but while sleeping during the remaking, the newly gifted Ysera the Dreamer approached him in a dream. She showed him the Emerald Dream, where he stayed until he awoke. Upon awaking, he noticed that his body seemed charged with the energy of the Emerald Dream, and he found the elves on the edge of the Well of Eternity. The Well, in addition to Ysera's blessing and the Emerald Dream, slowly turned him into a Night Elf. As a Human, and later as a Night Elf, he had been a ranger, more skilled with bow than any mortal since. However, he had been the first non-highborne to discover Azshara's plans, and when he fled to inform the others, she cast a terrible paralysis spell on him. It had taken thousands of years for him to slowly regain full body movement, but even after, he could not hold a bow steady enough to make full use of its power, and thus, he abandoned hope of regaining his past, and instead, embraced the future. Becoming a rogue, he quickly mastered the arts of stealth and silence. Upon seeing Skreeran IV imprisoned, he knew he could not be guilty of any murder, and left for a time to invesigate the crime. Understanding what had taken place, he returned to set Skreeran IV free. Skeeran IV fled the sentinels pursuing him, and sailed across the Great Sea to Quel'thalas. There he was nearly poisoned, but the drink was spilled upon the grass, causing it to die. He alerted the Quel'thalas guard, who nearly caught the Sentinels, forcing them to regroup in Ashenvale. Skreeran IV, mildly worried, moved to Hillsbrad, where he married a human woman, Laera Stonebrad, and they had two children. The name Skreeran is still hated by small pockets of Night Elves. Skreeran IV still lives, and played an important part in reviving Skreeran I, as he was the one who was able to plot the location of Skreeran I's tomb, based on the testimony of Skreeran II and Tana.
