Elune was one of the leaders of the eredar, along with Velen, Archimonde, and Kil'jaeden.

On some occasion during this hunt, she came upon the worgen of the Emerald Dream. She brutally slaughtered a great lot of them, and her overuse of fel magic tainted the realm, turning it into the first Emerald Nightmare.

She found the draenei, but the naaru persuaded her in some way to turn away and stop hunting them.

She stumbled upon (or was drawn) to Azeroth, where she selected one tribe of trolls (the Starchildren) as her Chosen, and led them to the Well of Eternity. Using the powers of the Well, she transformed the Starchildren into the first night elves.

She raised the night elves into an empire over a long time, and they came to regard her as a goddess. Being, after all, an eredar, she let them do this.

At some point in time, the worgen came after her with a vengeance-hungry warhost. She was able to convince them that she had changed, and cleansed their realm as a proof. The fel taint could not be fully removed, however, so she sealed it deep within the plane. The worgen became allies with the Kaldorei.

The Highborne use of magic would not have attracted the Legion had they not sensed that Elune was there, too. She was forced to defend her people against the Legion.

The Legion attacked yet again (Second Invasion), and Archimonde was slain. His spirit found itself drawn towards the sealed taint of the Emerald Dream, and he entered the realm and broke the seal. The second Emerald Nightmare began to form, slowly but securely. Some worgen felt that Elune had betrayed them, and offered their services to such people as Ur (who didn't actually summon them) and Arugal (who did).

A few years later, the draenei fled their homeworld and, officially, crashed at random on Azeroth, near Kaldorei territory. In truth, Velen specifically chose Azeroth to land on (there never was any blood elf sabotage), having known about the elves and their "goddess" for quite some time. Using his extensive powers, Velen erased all memories of Elune, the fourth eredar leader, from all but his most loyal followers. He currently spies on the elves, wishing to learn all he can about Elune's present state, location, and agenda.
