WoWWiki vs. Wowpedia Edit
- Basically the same as was posted at User_talk:Seven44#WoWWiki_vs._Wowpedia.
The story is too long to relate on a talk page, but the summary is that Wikia decided to change the wiki's skin from Monaco to Oasis which was a big pain in the @ss for most of the admins and they thought it diminished WoWWiki too much. It just happened to be that Curse gaming wanted to host a wiki on WoW, so they worked with some old WoWWiki admins to host a copy of WoWWiki that was more like the old skin and gave the admins more control over the wiki. Wikia really screwed up. I even left for awhile (6 months? I forget), but I wasn't a huge fan of the main admins who were controlling Wowpedia. Wikia started to realized how much they screwed up and started making changes to improve WoWWiki, so I decided to come back.
Wikia still has issues, but I'm sticking with WoWWiki for now. You can see some of the reasons I'm staying here and here.
- The only updates I would give to the above is that Wikia still has alot of improvements to make regarding WoWWiki, but the biggest is acknowledging how much they damaged the WoWWiki community and that it has a long way to go before it comes close to being what it was. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1 Aug 2012 8:07 PM Pacific
