WoW is SUPER ADDICTIVE! Don't play it if you value your free time... ;-)

Test silly new sig. --Image:gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr)

BlzzCon 2007

I probably don't have anything to add from stuff that has been reported in the online press. I did get to play with the goodie bag stuff and I was mostly impressed with the Warcraft TCG box. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:01 PM PDT 12 Aug 2007

Killer startup?

Stumbled on an interesting article:

Doesn't really talk about how a business model could work, but interesting that some people are thinking about WoWWiki that way. --Image:gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:47 PM PST 5 Feb 2008

Re:Adminship

I think a nomination is fine, I just have some questions before you go forward.

  • Do I need to hang out on MIRC/chat?
  • Would I have any responsibilities/commitments? or is adminship more like access to do deletes, ip bans for spammers, etc?
  • Anything else I should I know?

I'm honored - thanks for thinking of me. Image:Emot-awesome.gif (and lol, I really need to work on getting a sig working. This is kind of dull, don't u think?) -Howbizr (talk) 20:08, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

You are definitely the best candidate for admin in my mind, but I'm looking for others.
  • Being on IRC will make you more liked by that crowd, but it is not necessary.
  • We don't put specific responsibilities on admins, but here are some of the things it is good to see admins doing:
  • I would do a thorough review of current policies and the more popular guidelines, but mostly so other policy lawyers don't embarrass you too much. Image:winky.gif
  • Feel more free to create new articles that you think would be generally helpful, i.e. ask forgiveness and not permission.
  • If you get the job, make sure you get on the admin mailing list (ask Kirkburn).
See the Administrator section of Special:ListGroupRights for the powers admins get. I usually check with Pcj or Kirkburn for any javascript or CSS changes or ideas I have (which is rare).

If you really think wowwiki needs more admins, Eirik Ratcatcher comes to mind as a possibility. He's a very courteous editor, but I would definitely still give him the quality of bold. I'm not sure what other qualities you're looking for exactly, but just a thought. -Howbizr (talk) 22:09, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Yup, he's on my list for consideration along with Ose. --Image:gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:11 PM PST 28 May 2009
I'm not really seeing what makes them good for consideration; then again I rarely understand you. --gOurra[T҂C] 22:19, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Who would you consider? --Image:gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:20 PM PST 28 May 2009
Apart from Howbizr? None, to be honest. --gOurra[T҂C] 23:44, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough. --Image:gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:49 PM PST 28 May 2009
For me it was enthusiasm. And the kind of questions he asks. He's put in a lot of edits for a short period of time. I know that's not the only reason one should be an admin, but it's something. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 5:47 PM, 3 Jun 2009 (EDT)

When you get back

See here. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 3:30 PM, 14 Jun 2009 (EDT)

Again I know you're gone, but if you are reading this, are you in charge of this? It seems like it's been neglected for oh... the past couple of years.
If it's just supposed to be self-designation, then maybe there shouldn't be a sign up page, and applications, and all of that hoopla. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 9:38 PM, 6 Jul 2009 (EDT)
Since welcoming is automatic now... I see no need of a welcoming committee, probably why its been abandoned. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! (TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 01:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, as Coobra said, it is effectively abandoned. I will decommission the Welcoming committee when I get back. If you become and admin, you will automatically be part of the welcoming committee... As Howbizr pointed out on WoWWiki:Help Team, seems its the same thing. WoWWiki:Article Council seems to be dead in the water with no leader or members hanging around anymore as well. I would ask if the community teams are dead on the forums or post/send a message to Kirkburn, kd3, or both. --Image:gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:01 PM PST 9 Jul 2009
