Category Epic Items or Epic items

See, now I'm completely confused. Surely, as per WW:CAT, those cats should be capitalised (Miaow) -- Kirkburn (talk) 20:40, 29 September 2006 (EDT)

Precisely. I reverted the changes.   --Mikk (T) 03:57, 30 September 2006 (EDT)
Oops, I misread the policy. You might want to fix Category:Rare items and Category:Legendary items also. --Fandyllic (talk) 5:41 PM PDT 1 Oct 2006
They have now been fixed.   --Mikk (T) 03:35, 2 October 2006 (EDT)
Please also see Category:Factions. We have Faction:The Mithril Order and Factions:Thorium Brotherhood. The first is correct and the second is wrong, based on my understanding of the Cat and Sub-cat guidelines. <Since I of NP has been doing the Cat teams work? Do I get double credit? :D > --Dracomage 13:45, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
Well since your two links are both red (no article), I'm not sure why either is a problem. --Fandyllic (talk) 10:57 AM PDT 5 Oct 2006
Oh wait, you meant and . Personally I think these are both wrong... I would prefer just and . I put Template:Tlink tags on them to suggest this naming convention. Is N Blacksmithing [40] The Mithril Order a true reputation tracked faction? Or just an organization by name. --Fandyllic (talk) 11:06 AM PDT 5 Oct 2006
Now that you mention it... The Mithril Order is not a tracked faction in the game, Thorium Brotherhood is (The Mithril Order I think is part of them (not sure about the lore)). Tracked Factions are Argent Dawn, Cenarion Circle, etc...--Dracomage 14:30, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
See Faction for list of all tracked factions. The Mithril Order is a group of NPCs, but as player you do not gain reputation with them. --Dracomage 14:36, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
Maybe some mention should be made on N Blacksmithing [40] The Mithril Order and Thorium Brotherhood pages that one is a part of the other. --Fandyllic (talk) 11:37 AM PDT 5 Oct 2006

User:Asdf5678

I've decided to give the user a short (unlisted on the vandal page) 3 day vacation so they can decide whether they want to continue making and deleting ADarkShinobi (he wiped the content twice today, so I've deleted it again, even after I asked why he did it on the talk page). That okay with you? -- Kirkburn (talk) 00:33, 5 October 2006 (EDT)

I guess so. --Fandyllic (talk) 10:59 AM PDT 5 Oct 2006

Navigational Images

Any idea why the Help:Navigational image don't work? -watchout 11:11, 5 October 2006 (EDT)

Because it's totally out of date. That was for MediaWiki 1.4 and we're at 1.7 now >.<   --Mikk (T) 11:12, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
And do you know how to create those for 1.7 MW? -watchout 12:55, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
I've updated the page to the best of my knowledge now.   --Mikk (T) 13:40, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
Nice work, thanks! -watchout 05:50, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Help with Lightning's Blade site

Could you please help me to separate the EU and US Lightning's Blade's ? (-.-')

Lightning's_Blade

Need to fix the main Lightning's Blade site, then change titles on both EU and US. The EU one is the one with Raiding progression, etc. While the short one is probably the US one. Either or the US have not fixed their realm page, but anyway the main site could be fixed to make it somewhat easier. :D Thank you. ;) --Vladinator 13:30, 10 October 2006

Okay... Lightning's_Blade should not have been a redirect, so I filled in the page with the lore an put a link at the top to Server:Lightning's Blade (which is actually a disambig, but that's okay). I integrated stuff from Server:Lightning's Blade EU into and redirected to Server:Lightning's Blade Europe. The " Europe" naming convention has been used for most of the other Europe servers. --Fandyllic (talk) 6 PM PDT 10 Oct 2006

Redirects

Hey :) Just wanted to ask what the reason was to put a redirect on Gyth's Skull of Shadow Resistance? This item alone has 5 suffixes, and is one of the rare ones that doesnt have the 15 other bear/owl etc. I find it a bit heavy to put a redirect on every item suffix :) Only my opinion ofc ;) --Adys 17:29, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

Rustak has assured me that size and space of WoWWiki won't be an issue, so I figure why not redirect stuff instead of delete. It still remembers deleted pages anyway. I delete stuff that is legitmately bogus, but some of the things you marked were okay, just not exactly named correctly (no "The" when it should be there) or some variant that there might be too many of ("...of Shadow Resistance"). I could see why some people might be interested in some variant for raid intances that usually require high resistance of one type or another (fire for MC, nature for AQ, etc.). --Fandyllic (talk) 4:18 PM PDT 12 Oct 2006

What the h*ll? =)

You finally let one of your toons ding 60?!

CONGRATULATIONS FANDYLLIC! :-)

  --Mikk (T) 22:13, 15 October 2006 (EDT)

You're worse than my guild mates! I tried so hard not to get to 60, but I did a few too many quests in Winterspring... ;-) --Fandyllic (talk) 2:02 PM PDT 16 Oct 2006
You ... lose?? ;) Congrats -- Kirkburn (talk) 18:20, 16 October 2006 (EDT)
Congrats you Slacker! --Dracomage 14:35, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

Category:Unofficial Servers

Hey, I saw you created Category:Unofficial Servers, just wanted to ask what for :-P All servers are "official" normally, unless you were talking about test servers etc, which are anyways temporary, so not sure its needed. Thanks :-) --Adys 03:47, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

Um Adys, I think you're wrong. There are unofficial servers, run only by players. I have tried playing on them once. They are legal and some are very famous all over the world. Unofficial servers are created by players who can edit the very database of the game (say, mess with the fun, sometimes) and change the loot, the creeps, the NPCs, and sometime, if the game masters really kick ass they can add their own things.--K ) (talk) 04:23, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
They're also known as "Private servers".--K ) (talk) 04:24, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
I know them Kirochi, and yeah there are many well known Private Servers, however they are not legal at all, and I doubt WoWWiki is going to have articles about them any time soon. Blizzard barely allows programs like WoWModelViewer and WoWMapViewer to exist, let alone private servers :) --Adys 06:14, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
If that's the intention of the Unofficial Servers category, I'd advise against it.   --Mikk (T) 06:25, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
I just wish to stress that 'unofficial servers' are completely illegal. Blizzard does not allow access to the server software, and the use of it is effectively stealing. In any case, the wiki is not in the habit of attracting Blizzard's ire. -- Kirkburn (talk) 07:54, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
Okay, I deleted the category. I copied the above conversation to the discussion page. --Fandyllic (talk) 2:04 PM PDT 23 Oct 2006

New page question

Greetings, I've been noticing a lot of pages that were created with no information at all. It seems that the creator's only intent is adding the stub headers. Is it frowned upon to do such as this? I could see why the author may do this perhaps as it could clear up what some WoW terms are by looking at the category on the blank pages, but is this enough to justify a new page? Sam Weber 21:09, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Please see Zero content Pages (New page Patrol) thread in my talk archive. If you have further concerns or comments, feel free to put them here. --Fandyllic (talk) 6:17 PM PDT 23 Oct 2006

Sam Weber in RC patrol

Sam Weber (talk · contr) got accepted into the RC patrol, but someone forgot to poke you about patroller permissions, so I'm doing that now :-)   --Mikk (T) 03:27, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

Done. --Fandyllic (talk) 8:41 AM PDT 24 Oct 2006

Item pages

Hey Fandyllic :-) I meet many item pages (such as Inv mace 10 [Noboru's Cudgel]) using a deprecated item tooltip (mostly stubs expanded by you), the problems with this tooltip appears when there is much text on a line (ie a long Use or Proc description) and also on computers with a low resolution. Problems which dont appear with the Standard Boilerplate. Could you, in the future, use this boilerplate? Thanks :-) --Adys 21:15, 25 October 2006 (EDT)

Yeah, I'm kinda lazy about using the boilerplate because it has so much stuff in it. I'll try to use it more in the future. --Fandyllic (talk) 11:26 AM PDT 26 Oct 2006
I putted the name bolding straightly in the template, better than changing every single item I guess =P --Adys 00:30, 29 October 2006 (EDT)

Wikipedia ftw :)

[1] argh! -- Kirkburn (talk)

Who cares. Wikipedia is crammed with stick-up-butts. If they delete their WoWWiki entry, I won't waste time on Wikipedia entry in WoWWiki. It gets the Template:Tlink. --Fandyllic (talk) 1:20 PM PDT 27 Oct 2006
Lol. Have you seen the notice on my user page btw? -- Kirkburn (talk) 16:25, 27 October 2006 (EDT)
Wikipedia ftl :)....and now it's gone lol, ya know, cause the article space conflicted with so many others... --Gryphon 18:55, 1 November 2006 (EST)
I made Wikipedia a redirect to wikipedia:wikipedia. It looks ugly, but we're not as stick-up-the-butt as Wikipedians. --Fandyllic (talk) 4:21 PM PST 1 Nov 2006

Are you a Burning Crusade βeta tester?

I noticed you've been adding tons of entries for BC items. --Fandyllic (talk) 8:27 PM PST 30 Oct 2006

I got a code stuck to my account yes, and can occasionally lookup stuff. but haven't bothered to download it at home (2gig bit much).

CJ 15:30, 30 October 2006 (EST)

Yeah, if you have access to a higher speed connection (university or workplace) that you won't feel guilty about using, you should download it. You could probably download it on a DSL connection over a couple of days over night, since the download should be resumable. I'm not a βeta tester and I'm jealous! I'll still get to see it though, because my brother-in-law is in the beta. --Fandyllic (talk) 1:20 PM PST 30 Oct 2006

Vandals

Check Known vandals --Gryphon 19:55, 3 November 2006 (EST)

TY for letting others use yor format for your user page check mine out i modified it slightly for my taste but tell me what you think

NPC Stubs

I was wondering why you'd added stub tags to such NPCs as Wesley and Darla Harris. What else is there to be said about them? And the NPCs Category is redundant since they are already in subcategories of that one - Stable Masters, Flight Masters etc -- Varghedin 13:56 PM CET 6 Nov 2006

Just habit mostly the reason for adding stubs. I'm flaky that way... ;-) As for the adding the NPC category, I sort of think it should be on all NPCs... sometimes you don't know what kind of NPC the person is, so then it makes it hard to find. There is also an argument that it is redundant... which I don't totally disagree with. --Fandyllic (talk) 2:02 PM PST 6 Nov 2006

Dude

Look at RC and vandal page and your own talk! --Gryphon 14:00, 7 November 2006 (EST)

Update: You got him Jim. --Gryphon 14:15, 7 November 2006 (EST)
Yeah, I wasn't paying attention. I forgot to check vandal list. --Fandyllic (talk) 11:16 AM PST 7 Nov 2006

Isha Awak

Quest:Isha Awak/Chain is a template used by all the quests in the Isha Awak chain. That's why I made it a subpage and didn't stub it. Guess I should've left a note to that effect, huh?  :-) --DarkRyder 14:58, 8 November 2006 (EST)

Yeah, if you're going to use it as a local template you should make it more obvious. Maybe Quest:Isha Awak/Header or something like that... I thought it was just a guide to the quest chain. --Fandyllic (talk) 12 PM PST 8 Nov 2006
Hmm... actually (now that I've already moved it back 9_9), perhaps "/Chain Template" would be best. I've already gone back and added a description to the template. --DarkRyder 15:03, 8 November 2006 (EST)
Yeah, Quest:Isha Awak/Chain Template or Quest:Isha Awak/ChainTemplate would work (I hate unnecessary spaces). --Fandyllic (talk) 12:05 PM PST 8 Nov 2006
Done and done! Thanks for pointing this out to me. --DarkRyder 16:16, 8 November 2006 (EST)

Guild stub and dead guilds

Hand of the Forsaken and Low Red Moon have been stubbed because they may be dead guilds. While they basically are dead, I will still contend that the pages have a reason to be up here. Both guilds have been a very important part of the server history (Feathermoon US is the server), and I feel it is important that this history is documented and recorded somewhere. If you need me to make changes to the text (to separate IC and OOC comments, to make it more clear that this is a defunct guild, etc), I'll be happy to do so - but not including this page at all would be, imho, a mistake. Also, I checked the guidelines in the Guild writing pages, and I cannot find any mention there that the featured guild should be an active one. I'm not trying to play rule lawyer here - but if you feel that dead guilds should not be on WoWWiki, then maybe the Guild writing guide should mention that. Thanks for any explanation. -- Tsark 07:55, 9 November 2006 (EST)

See response at User talk:Tsark#Guild stub and dead guilds. --Fandyllic (talk) 10:22 AM PST 9 Nov 2006

green

Enchantment. please dont use "neon" green in soft-tone tables. it looks beyond horrible, and very much out of place. User:CrazyJack/Sig 03:21, 10 November 2006 (EST)

I used "green" which looks okay on my FireFox... you must have some strange color settings. So, what is "Note: Enchantments available only in Burning Crusade are marked as green rows" for, if you're not going to color them green? --Fandyllic (talk) 10:29 AM PST 10 Nov 2006
CJ's are a soft green for me in IE7 and FF. Fandyllic's green was the same bright green in both IE7 and FF for me. Might want to check color settings if CJ's doesn't look green to you. --Gryphon 13:42, 10 November 2006 (EST)
Edit: I take that back, I accidentally loaded the same page in both IE and FF. Fandyllic is correct that CJ's green does not display in FF, nor does the light grey, only the table headers are grape colored, the rest is black. But I have to agree, that the green Fandy created was burning my retinas ;-D --Gryphon 13:45, 10 November 2006 (EST)
Found the reason, colors were missing the hash (#) for the rows. IE makes up for the missing hash, FF is strict. --Gryphon 13:48, 10 November 2006 (EST)
ahh, so it's working now? User:CrazyJack/Sig 04:36, 11 November 2006 (EST)
Okay, I think the issue is calling it neon green... This is neon green. While this is green. I guess the regular green is a bit too bright, but not neon. The softer green is good, I was just being lazy and picked "green" cuz it was easy. --Fandyllic (talk) 10:45 AM PST 10 Nov 2006

boilerplate

RFC : Boilerplate:Talent_Tree User:CrazyJack/Sig 05:32, 14 November 2006 (EST)

Thanks, I 'll take a look. --Fandyllic (talk) 10:51 AM PST 14 Nov 2006

pls come into irc

just want to talk with you ´bout my request @ wow-api

I can't really offer you any help. I'm not an AddOn developer. Just tell the people on the channel that I referred you. --Fandyllic (talk) 12:01 PM PST 17 Nov 2006

Hi =)

I joined the community about a week ago and I was wondering if there's any itemization team going on, I see few standards on the way of introducing items into WoWWiki.

Thanks in advance ;) -- TiMoToR (talk · contr) 10:49, 19 November 2006

There isn't a specific team for adding items to WoWWiki, but the recommended boilerplate is Boilerplate:Item. You can add and click Save page, then edit again and fill in the boilerplate. --Fandyllic (talk) 7:26 PM PST 19 Nov 2006

Furbolg

Argh! Just uploaded a furbolg fanart pic (Image:Furbolg_Warrior.jpg) and noticed it had a copyright on it... could you delete it for me until I get confirmation that wowwiki is allowed to use it? Thanks in advance... --Vorbis 16:10, 25 Nov 2006 (GMT)

Looks like you uploaded a placeholder until you get permission. That should be okay for now. No need to delete it. --Fandyllic (talk) 9:38 AM PST 26 Nov 2006

Bot Marker Please

Could you please make Hobinbot a listed bot? --Hobinheim 22:32, 25 November 2006 (EST)

Tell me what it does and I'll give it the rights. --Fandyllic (talk) 9:36 AM PST 26 Nov 2006
Well, me and bullet were talking in village pump about how we tend to make lots of similar edits to things, like one of this projects where he was upgrading the bare images on NPC pages to framed ones. So both of us wrote bots for it, but realized our bots were clogging up the recent changes page. Me personally, my bot does not have any single purpose. It does whatever repetitive task I give it for whatever project I'm working on. Usually adding in templates across many pages or something like bullet's project. It's more semi-automatic than anything, since I sit there and approve each change it's about to make. If I'm feeling good about how some samples turn out, I'll run it "fully automatic" and let it just approve its own changes. Clogging up Recent Changes was our main concern. Thanks. --Hobinheim 17:29, 27 November 2006 (EST)
Good enough for me. Hobinbot is now part of the Bots group. --Fandyllic (talk) 3:11 PM PST 27 Nov 2006
