Dear god I've wanted to see those black boxes disappear for aages! Yay :) -- User:Kirkburn/Sig 15:38, 1 January 2007 (EST)

LOL, glad to oblige. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 12:38 PM PST 1 Jan 2007

Thank you, thank you, thank you... The main reason I didn't do it myself, was fear that the person who made them in the first place would return to start an edit war.Baggins 15:40, 1 January 2007 (EST)

Mac Gamer!

Another Mac Gamer on Wow .... well i'll be damned... have you managed to get Ventrilo working on your mac, coz I've tried and can never get it to work properly with everybody elses.

Merry Christmas and all that. Nbwj 15:45, 1 January 2007.

See Ventrilo on the Mac for info.

Instance attunement

I'm a bit confused. I changed the formatting a bit and removed redundant links, but they're gone in your edit. Did you remove them or were you editing an older version? Amro 03:55, 2 January 2007 (EST)

I was editing an older version. To be honest, I didn't see much improvement with your last edit, so I wiped it out. I hope it doesn't bother you too much. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:14 AM PST 2 Jan 2007
No problem at all, I was just wondering if I messed up the page or something. --Amro 17:03, 3 January 2007 (EST)

News stuff

Talk:News please :) -- User:Kirkburn/Sig 13:07, 3 January 2007 (EST)
Okay, I've moved it to Warcraft News now and reformatted the header section. Now we just need to get people submitting to it :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 22:13, 13 January 2007 (EST)

10000club, 25000club, 50000club

Heya, just thinking, we probably should have a Category:10000club now Smiley Still got the original pic? 'Edit: so apparently we already do, but it's not been started :)

At some point I'm thinking about making a general award similar to one I notice used be around (you got one from Laisren I think), that any admin can give to a user they have been impressed by - only a small thing though, otherwise it becomes silly and would probably end quickly :P -- User:Kirkburn/Sig 20:23, 5 January 2007 (EST)

I'll make a 10000club seal. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 6PM PST 5 Jan 2007

Another request - we need a Category:25000club seal, and while your at it, a 50000 one too methinks. Crazy, I know! Thanks :) User:Kirkburn/Sig2 19:08, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

Done. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:22 AM PST 18 Mar 2007

Scaled to 128px doesn't look so good, though.
Thanks! User:Kirkburn/Sig2 14:56, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

Stub/Mob

Any chance you could get Stub/Mob added to WoWWiki:Policy/Stub, so that I don't feel guilty using it? --Beep2 08:41, 7 January 2007 (EST)

Sorted, and I've updated WoWWiki:Policy/Stub at the same time. -- User:Kirkburn/Sig 10:28, 7 January 2007 (EST)

Deleted redirects

The page you restored (restored "Paid Character Transfer": 1 revisions restored: why the deleting of redirects? please put some explanation next time)) did not redirect to that page when I deleted it. It redirected to an out of date news article. For other redirects, they do appear in some searches, and so the fewer of them (e.g. user page redirects, relics of old moves), the better. User:Kirkburn/Sig 16:31, 12 January 2007 (EST)

Ahh, I see. Should probably put "old news" or something next time. Then I would have figured it out. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1:38 PM PST 12 Jan 2007
Sure thing, I'll try and do that! :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 17:14, 12 January 2007 (EST)

Template:Questbox

Hey. Class is already included in the "heading" parameter, since all class quests have their classname as header, so would you mind we revert this? -watchout 09:31, 14 January 2007 (EST)

Sure, you can revert it if you can figure out a way to show both faction and class icons in a nice way in the quest box. Remember, there are class quests that are faction specific. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:20 AM PST 14 Jan 2007
I don't really see a reason why this affects the mentioned parameter ;) -watchout 19:37, 15 January 2007 (EST)
Tbh, I would say it's easier to see if it's written out. User:Kirkburn/Sig 19:40, 15 January 2007 (EST)
I removed the class parameter and related stuff. Can you make a class icon appear without having a class parameter? --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:03 AM PST 16 Jan 2007
I think it's possible. And... I will look into it. Todo list. Smiley--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 17:20, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Infernal infernals

Had talked quite alot on IRC about the infernals with Hobinheim and Kirkburn hence why they were positionned so oddly. I removed them now Burning Crusade is here for good. --Adys (talk · contr) 15:40, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Bot Flag

I need a bot flag on my bot User:VoidvectorBot (warning page is a redirect). Kb told me you are the man for doing this. I've already used the bot for a few things, hopefully that won't trouble anything. Thanks in advanced. --Voidvector 16:23, 19 January 2007 (EST)

I'm fine with giving User:VoidvectorBot bot rights, but I'd prefer if you put some information about what it does more specifically on User:VoidvectorBot. If you put a description of what it does there and try to keep it updated when you change what it does, I'll give it bot rights. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 2:18 PM PST 19 Jan 2007
Done. --Voidvector 17:36, 19 January 2007 (EST)
Done (VoidvectorBot (talk · contr) now a member of "Bots" group). Also added Voidvector (talk · contr) to the "patrollers" group for the heck of it. --Fandyllic (talk · contr)2:42 PM PST 19 Jan 2007
Ah, thank you. The second wasn't really necessary, since I don't normally do that. --Voidvector 17:56, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Strange happenings

I was editing night elf earlier, but whenever I went back to the page, all it displys is a blank white. No wiki frame, no links, nothing. I don't know if this is a wiki issue or a browser issue, so I thought I'd best check with you. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 22:35, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Thanks. Also, apologies if this wasn't the right place/method to do this. -- User:Mephator/Sig
Must be the right place, if you want to ask me a question... ;-) Anyway, you can't be a total newbie with such a fancy sig. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:28 AM PST 30 Jan 2007

I couldn't figure out how to create a sig until I stumbled across a page that Kirkburn had created detailing the process. User:Mephator/Sig

Insane, every last one of you. Not that I'm really one to be talking about insanity (rather a case of pot calling kettle), mind you, but it's the principle of the thing.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 21:32, 30 January 2007 (EST)

C'mon Rage, everybody's doing it! --  talk ·Fandyllic · contr 12:53 PM PST 31 Jan 2007
Aside from the fact that I have no skill with such templates, one of us must maintain a certain aura of respectability (especially as my acerbic aura keeps failing). I think my display has been permanently stained by that yours, milord. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:02, 31 January 2007 (EST)
Sigh, I guess I'll have to be boring too. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:05 PM PST 31 Jan 2007

Last I checked, milord, all the controversies were happening in my department, so I'm not that boring. Also, since when Mac-wielding Beaurucrats cave to stuffy half-English Bookeepers?--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:10, 31 January 2007 (EST)

When they realize their last crazy sig gave them a minor stroke when they looked at it. o.O --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:16 PM PST 31 Jan 2007

Yep, that could have something to do with it. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:18, 31 January 2007 (EST)

The fully-english not-quite-sure-what-his-job-is admin demands compensation for this ... this ... twisting of his sig! People these days, no respect or anything ... Smiley User:Kirkburn/Sig 12:30, 1 February 2007 (EST)
I sense a disturbance in the sig ... --K) (talk · contr)

Riding trainers

I'm curious about your move from Riding instructor to Riding trainers. Why do this when the vast majority of the referred NPCs carry the term 'Riding Instructor'? Yeah, they are a form of trainer, but so are weapon masters, and moving that article to weapon trainers makes no sense since none of those npcs are actually called 'weapon trainer'. I suggest we keep using the same terms that Blizzard does. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 05:18, 8 February 2007 (EST)

I did this for consistency with other professions. I think its a stretch to say Blizzard calls them riding instructors as a term. If you feel strongly, change it back. I won't object. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:06 AM PST 8 Feb 2007

Template:Tlink

Hey Fandy, I rolled back the BC tags you added on items, see User:Kirkburn/Dev - it was talked about on IRC a little while ago. --User:Adys/Sig 03:21, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Putted? --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 7:55 AM PST 22 Feb 2007
Not english, remember. Anyway, that wasn't really a final list. This whole thing is a hard decision, as there's no clear choice what to do. Either we give up on the Burning Crusade category being usable and put it on everything, or some other choice. :/ User:Kirkburn/Sig 11:28, 22 February 2007 (EST)
Fixed <cry> My english is much more good than you :( --User:Adys/Sig 13:14, 22 February 2007 (EST)
I was just being snotty. I'm not really opposed to any particular system, I just want it to work for people who are trying to get information. If there is a good reason to not put a Template:Tlink tag on every BC related page, then I'm all for it. We could always go the way of stubs and items and make sub-category tags: Template:Tlink, Template:Tlink, Template:Tlink, Template:Tlink, Template:Tlink, etc. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:22 AM PST 22 Feb 2007

I want to change my username

I want to change my user name to User:AlphaDread, because I believe my username steals away search engine priority from searches for "Tichondrius" spelled the wrong way.--DarkTichondrias 01:03, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Nevermind, I realized I could just create a new account by myself. If you read this thanks for your time.--DarkTichondrias 01:15, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Hey temporary leader!

I wrote some stuff at WoWWiki talk:NP Patrol and thought since you didn't see it (or anyone else), I'd drop you a message here :)

I'm also working on this, and you may want to look at it: User:Watchout/Sandbox (Boilerplate:Guild rework)

(This message selfdestructs in 10.. 9.. 8..) -watchout 07:44, 8 March 2007 (EST)

I'm totally swamped at work right now, but I'll take a look. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:56 AM PST 10 Mar 2007

I like big bots and i can not lie

Hey, I've been recently developing a bot (KasoBot), it's purpose is to: 1) Replace tooltipcss with tooltip template 2) Batch add new stubs for items (note: this skips grey items and "random suffix" items, at the request of Adys) 3) Record a list of these skipped grey and random suffix items for future use when some decision is made on how to handle these items. You can check out a sample of the stubs i create here: User:Kaso/Test_Templates and an example of the tooltipcss replacement here: [[1]]. I'm told you're the one who can Bottify bots, so i wonder if you could take a look at my one and if you like what you see do the honors. If you have any questions, suggestions or whatnot about this gimme a message, also im on IRC a fair bit too if you need to catch me.

Thanks --Kaso 11:22, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Looks Kirkburn botified it already. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1:11 PM PST 18 Mar 2007

Template editing

We had to rollback your change to Template:Tlink as it appeared to break some tooltips. Please, if you want to change a template like that, mention it on the IRC or somewhere first - it's frustrating having to deal with 10 mins downtime out of the blue. Especially when Kaso was testing out his bot! Thanks :) User:Kirkburn/Sig2 21:19, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

Whatever. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 6:25 PM PDT 21 Mar 2007
If you're not having a good night, fine, but the fact is, the change broke tooltips, and we had to revert it (though the first attempt at that went wrong unfortunately). This is why the IRC channel is so useful so everyone can be up to speed on things and that you can discuss changes with the rest of the admins first (four of whom are on the channel now). Sorry if I came across harshly in the edit note, etc, but it was a frustrating half an hour - if you don't believe me when I said it broke - see the very bottom of [2]. User:Kirkburn/Sig2 21:31, 21 March 2007 (EDT)
Okay, I see the problem. I guess I'm just mad that Rustak made you a bureaucrat without consulting me. He's gone dark on me with e-mail and I get the sense I'm being cut out of alot of decisions being made about WoWWiki on IRC.
I will try to pop on IRC before making any changes like I did, but I'm starting to think having a monolithic tooltip template is a really bad idea. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 6:47 PDT 21 Mar 2007
Cool. I don't wish to subvert you in any way, but times move on. IRC has been really useful in co-ordinating many of the recent changes - it certainly isn't meant to cut anyone out. Rustak is on IRC btw. If you're able, I suggest just idling on IRC when possible. It's useful to be able to dip in and out of conversation. Lots of people stay quiet much of the day/week. User:Kirkburn/Sig2 21:55, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

License

Following my email, I'd like to know if we could make an "official" statement allowing WikiWoW users to translate WoWWiki content to French. As I understand the WoWWiki policies, it's perfectly fine to use the content as long as it's kept free. However, I believe that the GFDL doesn't allow this. The modified (ie. translated) content must be under GFDL as well which is not the case of WikiWoW (we use Creative Commons). Please let me know if we can come to an understanding. --Furism 07:08, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

I don't personally see the problem with translated content. The content on WoWWiki - apart from the Personal Articles and some user-created images - is not by itself created by the users anyways. Now, licenses and me... --User:Adys/Sig 07:36, 23 March 2007 (EDT)
Unrelated but while I'm here, gotta let you know Template:Tlink doesn't default its arguments to {{PAGENAME}} anymore. You have to use {{lang|fr=blah}} now even if the name is the same in French (or any other language). See Naxxramas --User:Adys/Sig 07:43, 23 March 2007 (EDT)
Aye, I've noticed that and I always used the fr= argument anyway (see my contribs), I think. I'm not sure if that's exacly what you meant. --Furism 08:44, 23 March 2007 (EDT)
Would you mind to include an english description to Creative_Commons? Because I just don't know what all the french text means :) -watchout 07:52, 23 March 2007 (EDT)
Sorry, about that, I should have included a link to the English version of the license we use. Here it is. We basically authorize the use and modification of our texts, do not impose to keep the same license than us (that's why we picked CC instead of GFDL in the first place), but we do ask to keep the content free (no commercial use). We also ask to be quoted as the source unless authorized otherwise. --Furism 08:44, 23 March 2007 (EDT)
