{{Wwclub}} Edit

More useless work for the botters, wee!

I made it when I saw again the one you used on your userpage. Try that: {{Wwclub|5000|img=5000Club_sealKBPNG.png|descr=No|float=center}}. --Adys 23:26, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

why not make the template easier with: {{Wwclub|<edits>|<adjective>}} resulting in: This member is a <adjective> member of the <edits> club and showing Image:<edits>club image. Just a thought :)

It says ratified, it's just implementation now I think, so I guess you may just go ahead and implement :) You also can file a bot request, because it may be automated, but I'm not too sure if it's possible. -watchout 05:24, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Resolved over IRC. DNP content as personal biography, heavily disputed, therefore removed. Kirkburn talk contr 22:04, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

This page has reoccured and contains inaccuracies. All the information posted on his page by Ohnoes was accurate and factual. If you do not wish this information to be on WoWWiki, then nuke the entire entry, since Punchline's 'self-written' biography is inaccurate. Ohnoes 18:56, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Ohnoes.

He can say what he likes (within reason) on his own page. This isn't a site for "calling out" people. You can have your page as a subpage of your own (assuming he does not complain/you have proof), but you can't go editing his own stuff. Kirkburn talk contr 19:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

This user is known to have a personal vendetta against WoW Radio and as you are well aware, posted actionable slander on WoWWiki previously, as well as polluted various entries with misinformation or personal bias. Since he is, it would seem, continuing to vandalize WoW Radio related wiki entries, I would suggest that the administrators keep a closer eye on him. Personally I find it rather despicable that this child continues to try and make out that he is something more than a troublemaker and dramaqueen but that's simply personal opinion, I prefer to deal in facts and actual events. Ohnoes 22:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

What a coincidence TB! I prefer facts and actual events too! That's why I edited the WoW Radio WoWWiki entries with factual information. --Punchline 18:13, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I am speechless Edit

Literally and utterly and completely speechless. I just plain have no idea what to say, other than I feel completely stabbed in the back (especially since the whole SoL 'vs WoWWiki' thing was over ages ago): http://forums.scrollsoflore.com/showthread.php?t=1695 Kirkburn talk contr 21:27, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

I guess I will never be visiting SoL again until they are able to cope with the possibility of differing opinions like we manage so well here. We do not ever, ever ban people for having dissenting views, or for coming from certain websites. People are only ever banned for vandalism or continuously violating our policies (the latter only resulting in very short suspensions). If I found any admin to conduct themselves in the way that some members of SoL have, they would have their privileges immediately revoked. You do not ban someone because you disagree with them.

There is absolutely nothing preventing people from belonging to both communities - in fact it is my hope that some manage it. It seems the main problem is that some don't quite understand how a wiki works - having a giant ego will win you no friends here. If you have a problem with an article, discuss it or at least provide a reason for your edit.

I do hope this is of interest to readers from whereever they come. Kirkburn talk contr 22:00, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

I don't get it... Are you mad that they called you Kickbum, or that they said you were dead, or both? --SWM2448 22:11, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
OH! You got banned! Ouch. They're jerks.--SWM2448 22:12, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Without reason or notification. I didn't mind the name calling, apparently it's something that they do. Kirkburn talk contr 22:13, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Apparently one suggestion is that I may have deleted my account. I haven't the faintest idea how to even think of doing that - I didn't know it's even possible (nor would I want to) :/

If any members from SoL read this, I do not think that everyone in the community is 'bad', not at all, I just wish you'd stop being so anti-WoWWiki for little good reason. I'm not anti-SoL (this latest charade notwithstanding), and I really wanted to improve relations. Maybe I'll try again in the future.

Also, note that I really don't believe WoWWiki is 'perfect' or infallible (or mine!), as most people here know. The wiki is all about working together, so I can understand that it is difficult for some to come from a forum (where adversarial attitudes are often the order of the day) to here where you just can't spend your days making controversial edits. You may have discussed it at length elsewhere, but we don't know that, so you have often to discuss it here too or at least leave a summary note. Anyway, this wiki isn't a closed community, and absolutely anyone is welcome to do stuff here or join the IRC channel - just try not to rock the boat too much, because it just makes people sea-sick. Smiley Kirkburn talk contr 02:22, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

I didn't really see anything that would warrant you being banned (Especially since you didn't even create the thread to begin with. Alas, I think people are just too closed minded to accept different views on an issue. Personally, I think it goes to show how immature that community really is.   Steelclash  Talk / Contributions 14:29, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

The 300 quotes were funny. A lot of us are elitists, but most of us have spent over a year chatting together daily on that forum so it's to be expected. Elitism is only us liking the lore and taking it seriously. We have some good laughs, and a few exceptions aside, I'd like you guys to know that the whole animosity thing is mostly fabricated. Sure there are some who don't like Wowwiki, but that isn't that big a deal. There are some here who don't like Scrolls of Lore. Fine. It goes both ways. We have a handful of members who contribute to Wowwiki and are a part of this community too. I visit Wowwiki regularly myself, and fix up some things too. One last thing; random Wowwiki posters logging onto Scrolls of Lore to gain brownie points defending this site are not necessary. Don't do that. Anyway, yours truly. --Timolas 19:33, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

I think we need a more rigid talk page policy. As it stands, only a handful of pages have "non-editorial comments will be removed" banners, and there are all sorts of comments on the pages. I just think we need to have a clearer convention or policy on this. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 09:12, 27 April 2007 (EDT)

Dear Sir, Edit

You have my sincerest apology from the bottom of my heart. It was not my intent to infringe your regulations on editing articles; – I thought the debate was ended, and that I had the liberty to incorporate my own stances and suggestions in the mage article. I have recently been informed that you sanctioned a ban against me because of this, a ruling which I oppose. It is my conviction to favour dialogue over conflict; – you should have notified me and we could have talked this over. Putting me on your 'most wanted list' was not very nice¨. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Look, both of you need to cool your jets. If this is how bad you are over one image, what's going to happen when the new race for the next expansion is unveiled, hmm? Bottom line, no, the image hasn't been definitively stated as depicting Tyrande and Furion, but analysis and evidence strongly suggests that it is.
Hence, the image will stay in the article, which is in fact the whole point of this mess. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:59, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Thottbot / Allakhazam Edit

From wikipedia:IGE, the story's all very confusing.

Apparently from what I can tell, "RPG Holdings was created as a new company that owns all MMO-fansite assets."[2] Thott was snapped up a bit of time before that, and Allakhazam was bought out later. However, what's confusing is that on the wikipedia page, it says that "IGE has since been sold by its current parent (Affinity Media)..." but this says that "Affinity Media continues to own Allakhazam. Brock Pierce, aka Rosemary's Baby, still owns Affinity Media and Allakhazam."

I'm guessing somewhere along the line, RPG Holdings LLC got bought out or was owned by Affinity Media in the first place. As I said, it's all messed up, and I'm trying to weave together a story with what I can muster up. Pzychotix 13:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kirkburn, I wanted to get your thoughts on something. I am trying to figure out which games coming out this year people are most excited for.. so Wikia can set up wikis for those games. Vlad suggested running a poll on wowwiki and I thought that was a great idea. Do you guys have any kind of poll or rating extension? If not, perhaps I could just make a list and let people add points next to the game they are voting for. Hello ugly!
Hey Even
Wanna go for a ride?
Sure, Even.
Hah! Forget it!
I am an ugly girl
My body is pompous
Not attractive
Never had a mate
Vomit-green hair
Enormous legs
Skin like Ronald Reagan
I look like Jan Teigen
Keep Grethe Rhode on your mind
I am ugly and fat
I look like a potato
Not prima
Worse than Hiroshima
No one else gets as much lip hair as me
You must use a knife because razors don’t work
I am big
I am heavy
I look like a mountain
I have warts and acne
Well, name me Kjell
Smells repulsive and sweat
You have never been light
Your arse stretches from Oslo to Drammen
Do you want?
Wanna stroke?
(Ha-ha)
If I want to be yours forever?
Uhouu!
I am an ugly girl
With legs like Gundun Jøs
Big ham
Never heard of make-up
Can’t stand mirrors – in them there are only mistakes
Eating old bread to decrease my weight
I have hair under my arm and I am quite dotty
My boobs have been treated with an iron
Go away, leave me!
You will never be a model
Thank you very much for a ruined night
Take me now!
I am yours
(No-no-no)
If you turn the light off I’ll even look good!
I have not enjoyed this, Even!

NominationsEdit

Fan-Fiction is not allowed in the nominations are they?

Kirkburn's away for a while. I can't see why fan-fics can't be nominations, as long as they show a high quality of style, and follow the guidelines for a WW:FA. However, an extra criteria would probably present itself: does the lore presented in it make sense? I don't think we really want feature articles about the story of a puppy rising against Arthas and taking him down with a single blow. But if the fan-fic is very well written, and actually can be tied into current lore (no major contradictions), I'd say sure. (Not to be rude or anything, but most of the fanfic written on here don't meet the very basic standards of editing.) Pzychotix 03:27, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

All Wiki's of this format have interchangable infrastructures so that they may share information as well as import and export content and format. These templates I am adding will facilitate interwiki information systems. I've been talking with the WikiProject World of Warcraft about finding a way to import some of the content such as key concepts to the English Wikipedia. THE Lightbringer doesn't serve purpose anymore - obsolete Edit

I took the liberty of removing it as I made it obsolete when I moved my lines, although modified, to "Last name?", where a new discussion was sparked. As Ragestorm said when refering to my post that I removed; "It doesn't make sense", and it is true, it doesn't, I agree with that. What I have written now is pretty much what I meant to write ages ago, not the hastily written post that I deleted (I wrote it late at night and my (English language) head doesn't work when I'm tired). I do not see why Ragestorm would have trouble with what I did. It is only two posts (the other is mine in any case) of which the first doesn't make sense, and the other doesn't serve any purpose alone. No real, major discussion was removed, and I hope that (and don't see why it would) this won't cause a war now that I have made my reasons clear. Regards, --Theron the Just 04:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Using fanart in infoboxes versus using non-fanart pictures Edit

Some time ago we had a little argument in Uther Lightbringer article over the use of fanart pictures in the infoboxes. Well, you said that it is not a good idea, yet I disagree with this. Yes, I understand that infoboxes should have art that is related to Blizzard somehow (Metzen, RPGs, Sunwell ect), yet because there are so many things that lack this official or more official art, and many of the fanart pictures are absolute eye candy (no disrespect meant to any fanartist. I personally can't draw ****) I belive that it is a good idea to use fanart in infoboxes too. Also, given that one of the moderators, Baggins, recently added the VERY good fanart picture of Anduin Lothar (Respect Pulyx, respect! :S) in the article's infobox, I belive that we need to discuss this in any case. Regards, --Theron the Just 06:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Community disagreements about Progression formatting. Edit

Kirkburn:

I've encountered a situation on this website whereby I see part of the community wants a Server Progression page sorted in chronological order, and the other wants it alphabetized. Lately we've seen the page changed back and fort a few times, i.e. Argent Dawn Server Progression.

I'd imagine that this is likely where the Discussion page comes into play, but in the case where changes are made avoiding the page all-together, who arbitrates a solution to these sorts of disagreements? Obviously trying to avoid confusion and magical overnight page changes here.

Sylvanas's article changes. Edit

Hello. You just posted me about the changes on Sylvanas article and I was trying to figure out how to reply. Anyways, thanks for the information. What I wanna know about the article is.. Is that main image from it, an official artwork from Blizzard? Cause if is not, I don't see why I shouldn't replace it for a more expressive and loyal to the Sylvanas's character one.

--Dragão 19:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it's from the Trading Card Game. Will get it checked. Kirkburn talk contr 19:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Its the trading card image, and ya I dislike it too... I prefer metzen's image myself...Baggins 06:48, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

I checked on Google and it's from the TCG. Now let me ask you something, how you know the images from the TCG aren't Fan Arts as well? In case you don't know, Magic: The Gathering TCs were made by hundreds of different persons. That's Magic I mean, I dont know about the Warcraft ones, that's why I asked.

--Dragão

The difference with TCG is are the cards are authorized and published by Blizzard. The TCG is an official Blizzard product. Yes the art is drawn by lots of different artists, but the work was authorized to be on the cards by Blizzard themselves, thus becoming copyrighted to them.Baggins 07:06, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Just cause an image were published by Blizzard It doesn't make it more original or authorized than other image. The difference is the publish. nothing else, in my point of view. And since this is an open and free website, all opinions shall be read and discussed.

--Dragão

Er, if something is published by Blizzard, that is the definition of being authorized and official. Kirkburn talk contr 20:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I didn't say it wasn't, did I? What I said is, that the image be copyrighted, authorized and published doesn't make it more authentic to the Sylvana's character from all games (including WoW), than any other Fan Art. The difference is that it was copyrighted and published that's all. In my point of view, there are better and "more-loyal" to the character artworks of her than the actual one, and we should choose the one which represents Sylvanas best as the its official character in all games from the Warcraft series. And that again, in my point of view, is the Lament of Highborne image. What do you say about that?

--Dragão

Fan artwork is still not official. I don't care how amazing it is, putting non-official artwork as the main image of a character is just not going to happen. There's not much more to say than that. Kirkburn talk contr 20:58, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Though you are welcome to vote for which official artwork you like the best, ragestorm has said if the consensus likes one of the other official pieces better, he'd be willing to accept it int he racebox.Baggins 21:01, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you a registered employ of Blizzard or something Kirkburn? Cause the way you expressed yourself it looked like you were in charge here or something. Can you show me your badge or license? Cause if not you're just a normal visitor as anyone else here, and has the same vote power as me :). About the policy of the website, I didn't see nothing in the license when I created my account, that tells you can't vote or even change the images of the website if you're not meaning to vandalize or ridicule the official history, characters, etc. of Blizzard.

I do not mean to sound like I am not open to discussion, but this has come up a lot - so my apologies for any harshness in my response. As Baggins says, I have helped run the wiki for over a year, and one of the critcisms that comes up is that fan fiction could once prominently find its way into articles - having fan created images as the first image someone sees of a character article would certainly not give us an air of authority. Kirkburn talk contr 22:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Kirkburn - Yeah, It's ok. I tought it was a free open website, so everyone had the same power and free will to edit articles, and etc., as long you not injuryng the official stuff of Blizzard. But he apologized himself. I just replied asking him if he was an employ of Blizzard, cause I tought this site was projected by the official company Blizzard Entert., just like Wikipedia by Google, and found out he is an admin., and that there's an admin. crew of this website. - Second) I tought too, people had the same power to freely express what they think it's better to the articles or website, and freely edit the same (just like Wikipedia). I didn't know there were such policies as prohibiton of free-will edition, as long you not injurying the original works of Blizzard. Tought it was something like good sense of people to vote or choose an image who fits well to the original works of Blizzard. - Third and last) - You can ban me if you want, then pick your "Sucefully complete action" and stuck it right up your ass, cause I really dont give a shit dorky "almighty" ass, haha :D. --Dragão 06:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Already answered on your talk page ... Kirkburn talk contr 16:45, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

No you didn't, all you did was send me an Auto-message of Welcome to WoWWiki saying "you" prefer Authorized Artwork from Blizzard on the info boxes, than other Artworks. I agree with that too, the change I did on Arthas was an official artwork from Blizzard, and since you edited, you probably did(do)n't like it or prefer the old one. So, I'm still waiting for an answer for we come up with a deal. Cause personally, I too don't like that actual image from Arthas still as a Paladin. So, let's respect both sides and come up with something that please both of us. I'll edit it again, till you answer me here.

--Dragão

As I said, the article is about Arthas pre-transformation. Thus, it's not appropriate to the picture of him as Lich King on there. I know what the policies of the site are, and it is not a case of "what I want". Kirkburn talk contr 20:01, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

The article says at the beginning This article tells Arthas's life as a human., tho, it tells about Arthas wearing the helm of Lich King's armor. Same thing with Sylvanas, the article tells her history but the main image is Sylvanas already as Dark Lady of the Forsaken. Before Arthas merge with the Lich King, he was a Death Knight serving the same. There's a different article telling the Lich King's history that the main image is Arthas as the one already. So, the point is, why not showing Arthas in the main picture of his article as his last look or form before merge with the Lich King?

--Dragão

Hmm, and about you knowing the policies, not sure you know but, this is a free open website, so anyone can come here, make an account, edit the policy he wants on his PMs and send to others :). I have come here lots of times to read about the characters and History of Warcraft, but I'm new helping and posting so, you're a registered employ of Blizzard or something? Can you show me your badge or license :)?

--Dragão

Largely because that is either: 1) last few seconds of his old life or 2) the first few seconds of the new one. And the article tells the story of his whole life. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 21:26, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Err, you didn't answer my question. In anyways, if it's about his whole life, why not show him in the main image as a Death Knight? Since +85% of his life's History shows and tells him as a Death Knight already. Not just it, also, it was his last look before merging with Ner'zhul.

--Dragão

These were your edits - http://www.wowwiki.com/index.php?title=Arthas_Menethil&diff=786742&oldid=771653
The problem: Arthas Menethil is not the Lich King, the Lich King is either Ner'zhul or a combination of Arthas and Ner'zhul. The image you changed it to was that of the Lich King, which has an article of its own.
Now, as to why it's a picture of normal human Arthas, well, that can be debated. I personally would still stick to the more human visage as it is more recognisably Arthas, and that the article is nominally about his human life. My mind is open, however, and Ragestorm is really the one to oversee such matters. I recommend posting on the Arthas talk page about it. Kirkburn talk contr 22:20, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
