Ulduar

(from couloircarver) The biggest issue I'm having with the Ulduar description is the bad grammar. There are so many run-on sentences and poorly punctuated sentences that I've made the edits to improve other user's experience reading the content. If the copy for the Ulduar page can be updated without major grammatical errors (and errors of paragraph structuring) I'd be glad to stop updating it. I'd like to mention also that it isn't vandalism when it is a public wiki, where anyone can add and modify content.

Uldar "intro"

Do you think it should just be moved to Ulduar Raid or leave it on the Ulduar page? I wasn't sure where it fit, so I stuck it here because of the namesake. -Howbizr (talk) 00:20, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

It is about the raid, but I have no idea. The wing is called just 'Ulduar' as far as I know, like Utgarde Keep/Utgarde Keep (instance), but more so becase it seems to be the main section of the city/prison.--SWM2448 02:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Frostborn/frost dwarves

Do you know if there are any ingame references to "frost dwarves"? Most quests I've looked through appear to just call them "frostborn".Baggins (talk) 00:01, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I have not done any quests for them yet. Sorry.--SWM2448 00:21, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
You have to do the quests at K3 in Storm Peaks before they will send you to the Frostborn via a rocket (for when you are lower than level 77). -- (<span="help title=Morph>M o r p h | <span="help title=Morph_Contribution(s)_to_this_Wiki>C | <span="help title=Morph_Discussion_Page>T) MorphgnomeMorphdraenei 21:54, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Warcraft III stat box

I drew one up at template: WC3UnitBox, heavily based on the one at the StarCraft Wiki. I noticed you have a project for doing up Warcraft RTS units, and thought you might like it.

The template is currently missing a lumber icon! It can also have stuff added to it (eg gold bounties), etc, when I have a bit more time. I added it to the Draenei Elite Assassin so you could see it in action. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) 17:25, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Quick request: Don't start using this template for a bit. I want to get it up to snuff so to speak, and I have a few ideas about how to do that. --Sky (t · c · w) 18:39, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh now you tell me :) Well, rather, I didn't see this post 'til today. I only added it to one more page; I'll wait 'til it's fixed. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) 16:02, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

I like the idea. Though, I will off doing anything with it until Sky gives the OK.--SWM2448 21:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Gotta ask...

Noted your comment replying to Adys re my comment on his/her page. Got to ask: did your ears perk up because of the talk page, or that I did the edit? :) I've seen a fair amount of fairly swift response to my edits, and was wondering if I should become paranoid... :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:59, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

I usually have the Recent Changes page up on my screen with the Ajax box ticked. I was just following the current arguments and felt I had something to add. I am not stalking you any more then I can wiggle my ears.--SWM2448 00:27, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, why aren't you? Aren't I worthy of stalking? <snicker> --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 15:48, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Decompression sickness

I am torn between decompression sickness causing the dementia or the abandonment, on the Forsaken Spy in the Diving Log. The Forsaken don't circulate blood so much, do they? (That's always puzzled me ... if they're undead, why do they need air?) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:14, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

There is too little information on Inv misc book 03 [Diving Log] to really psychoanalyze the guy, but I am guessing it is a combination of both. I do not know why they need to breathe. Gameplay, or an old habit from life? I recall that I gave a stupid guess on Talk:Forsaken a few years back, but I still do not know.--SWM2448 21:26, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Rolandius

Leave the review points alone, don't add ongoing discussions to it. Nice corpus, though.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 02:24, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

My bad. I still think they need improvement. Thank you for thinking so, I tried.--SWM2448 02:39, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

RE: Citations

{{Ref game}} should, as I see it, only be used when it references a different game other than WoW, since it is the main focus. The template should instead be used for example for Warcraft I/II/III missions and other games, which aren't covered as much by WoWWiki. --g0urra[T҂C] 06:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Cat:Camps

Looked at Category:Villages. Description includes "... and camps". Saw you'd added the Camps category, perhaps in response to my message to Rolandius. Added cats to it, just to be thorough.

Still not sure if Camps should be a separate category, or rolled into villages. Would like to see a better description. Nesingwary's encampments would belong, as would several camp-like areas in eg Grizzly Hills. How about eg Ghost Walker Post? Camp? Village? See why I would like a better description than "has village or camp in name"? :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:17, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it was in response to your message to Rolandius and my message to you. You are asking me to make an action based on a series of vague technicalities make sense? I do not think camp is defined consistently throughout the Warcraft RPG. The only thing I can think of is to expand it into "has village or camp in its name, or has been called a village or camp in any sort of reference in any official source". Even then, would it be worth it for categorization purposes? What do you think?--SWM2448 19:34, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I've no knowledge of the RPG at all. I cannot discuss it in any informed fashion. As for the MMO... I agree, "Camp" is used to refer to anything from a few people around a campfire to Tauren (specifically) communities. If I were to do it from scratch, the "villages" category would be (something like) "any community with permanent structures, a flight point, or mailbox that is not recognizably a town or fortress". Camps would be communities without those. IE anything with anything of real interest would be a "village" (because "communities" or "small communities" wouldn't be useful names to casual users IMO). --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:50, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Looking at Category:Towns and its subcats, I think my description of "Village" is consumed by those categories. Which leaves the question, "why is a village category still interesting?" Or put another way, "why do we have this category, again?" ... all of which also applies to camps. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I am just saying I think there is no anwser or point to this, even if the terms are used. A page with a cited list of every time both terms are used and how may help, but that would be a mess. You are of course welcome to do whatever you think is best, like rank and apply labels to types of habited locations (Which seems a bit like fan fiction), if you feel that would help. I do not know why they are there, but both Village and Camp are there because Rolandius made it that way.--SWM2448 20:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Given what I know now, do you see any reason I should not disband both categories (to the extent I am able)? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:09, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
You can not find a point. I can not find a point (But I do not deny the existence of the term). So I do not see any reason.--SWM2448 20:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Cite to ref?

(Asking you as I remember seeing your name on this kind of changes the most, and I don't wanna be laughed at in the forums)
I haven't been very active on the wiki lately, so I probably missed it on the village pump/new forums, why are uses of {{cite}} changed to a hardcoded <ref>?
As far as I can see, changing the template to create refs would've been far easier and would require less effort. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 10:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

{{Cite}} was deprecated long ago and needed to be removed. <ref> type templates are cleaner and more professional. There was no real announcement, at least not a recent one, so you did not miss it. If you are asking why the changes are being done manually in the stead of through the template, then I have no idea why this was done, and no idea how to do it myself (My knowledge of bots is limited to much simpler find and replace functions, and only in theory). Cite should not be used within reference tags, if that is what you were talking about. Gourra is doing most of the changes, so he may provide further information.--SWM2448 17:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Titans

There is no reference in lore to support your claim that "most scholars" didn't believe in the titans. This is only true of the humans. The "scholars" of the dwarves are the explorer's league, and bran is not alone in thinking of them as real. The gnomes certainly never doubted their existance, the trolls and tauren were AROUND when the titans were, and the night elves struggle against sargeras really left little room to doubt the existance of titans. Orcs and ogres, being not native, would have no opinion either way. Certainly the draenei know about the dark titan, and thus the other titans. The blood elves/high elves perhaps as well, though their shared history with the night elves implies a knowledge. Simply put, one race, and the newest race at that, doubted their existance, while every other major race believed in them and wanted to no more, the statements you made are just not justified by lore.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Crazyguy co (talk · contr).

The statements I put back[1] are almost verbatim from Shadows & Light. It can be added that this passage refers to humans if you wish, but it is 'in lore'.--SWM2448 23:51, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Talk: Kargath

Why keep a dead discussion, one is some strange request that there should be a link to "a boss.. called Kargath" which there is, and other is a question if the village even exist?TherasTaneel (talk) 22:30, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Block/ban policy

I view the fault here to be reliance on the telepathic interface, rather than necessarily a failure of discression. IMO the correct reaction to the (unprecedented) talk page spamming would have been "please don't do that. You are not demonstrating acceptance of the block." The correct reaction would have been, "I disagree with my being blocked, but accept your decision. See you in X days." But I don't believe either party could have acted/reacted in that fashion. They aren't those people.

G0urra surprised me with his pronouncement, as his statement did not include reasons or limitations. A 'rule' heretofore unknown to me; was I in violation of some policy or guideline myself? And here we are now. I hate surprises. I hate more the appearance of arbitrary behavior by authority. I'll leave "substance of arbitrary behavior" for another time. With any luck, never.

In any case, "thanks", and "no worries" are called for re your comments. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:45, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm guessing that the last line is a reference to my apology in my last post... But, I do not understand the rest. I will agree that a lot of things could have been less rude from most parties (Myself included), but the past can not be undone.--SWM2448 21:53, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
For what you didn't understand of my above, sorry. Equal parts wishful thinking, rationalization, bitter irony and failed attempt at humor. My bad. Didn't actually intend to provoke a response. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Talk:Baron Rivendare

I don't think that removing a comment on the talk page just because it is an empty piece of (inoffensive) fluff is the right action to take. Your edit comment would have been appropriate as a response on the page, sure. Because it was just a bit of fluff, it's probably not worth bothering with to put it back. But I don't know of a policy that says such comments should be removed. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:17, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

WoWWiki:Talk_page_guidelines says that "Article talk pages are used to discuss changes to the particular article." and "...they are not a soapbox for personal opinions on the matter." I think that is the basis for uneditorial warnings. However, removing it with the edit summary of "So?" was rude. It will scare people off.--SWM2448 20:39, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
