Bracers of the Green Fortress
Hey thanks for fixing my wiki on the Bracers of the Green Fortress. I did look at the Boilerplate:Item and it didn't really help much as far as the layout goes. After you fixed my wiki I now understand what the point of the Boilerplate is, when it originally seemed very confusing.(Maybe I'm just a moron ;-P). I just wanted to get the wiki up there so I could link to it from my server's rare crafting page. However, now I can actually link to something that looks like it took more than 5 minutes to create.--Flop 00:48, 2 March 2007 (EST)
BC DPS Equipment (cloth) vs. BC Priest DPS Equipment
Some time ago you moved BC Priest DPS Equipment to BC DPS Equipment (cloth), stating that this equipment is not exclusive to priests. Well, I think you are wrong.
First: there are no swords there (mages and warlocks can use them, but priests can't). Second: there is some stuff with Shadow Damage (e.g. Boots of the QShifting Nightmare) there, which leaves mages out (it's only for priests and warlocks). And last but not least: there are parts of Incarnate Regalia (T4) and Avatar Regalia (T5) sets there, which are priest only.
To sum it all up: I think we should move this page back to BC Priest DPS Equipment. -- Vysogota 15:18, 3 March 2007 (EST)

Questbox and external links for quests
Noticed the What Are These Things name change and addition of external links section. Personally, I didn't think the external links section was necessary, as the questbox template adds links in the "see also" section of the quest box. Whatever you find useful, though. I'll check for links that may have become broken due to the move.--Eirik Ratcatcher 19:48, 13 April 2007 (EDT)

- Had no complaint about the template, Kiltek! :) And no worries about the additional External links section, Sky. If you missed it, others will to. Leaving that there. I DID, though, go back and reroute all the links to the former page to the moved page name instead of relying on the redirect. There weren't that many, and it seemed neater. --Eirik Ratcatcher 12:59, 14 April 2007 (EDT)
Mage talents/abilities
Hi there. I've had my eye on updating most of the mage stuff, since it was mostly stubs and inconsistent content. I figured I'd start with something simple at the "leaf node" pages like talents, but I can cover the abilities/spells while a new talent boilerplate is being made. The new ability layout is much better than the old. I'll post my thoughts on a "good" ability page over on Talk:Boilerplate:Ability --Piumosso-Uldum 00:11, 19 April 2007 (EDT)
Casual Gamerz looting system
We actually use SK for groups of 20+. I personally expect to run some 40 man runs again at some point, but it might be another 6 months or so. I still want to get into Naxx and BWL, and with all the 70s in my guild we will be able to at some point do them fairly easily. As far as changes to it, I am actually thinking about changing it to be used for any 20+ raid or level 70 10+ raid.
As for how SK works for us, It works pritty well. We have had arguments in the past over it, but with the release of the BC, we have not used it sence. I plan to restart the SK lists with no one in them fairly soon. Most of the arguments that we had in the past were over how people were added to the list and what class got what items. Whether the item went to a class list or to the general list was the main question most times.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dparvin (talk · contr).
Bcarticle -> bc
Ok, cool. I Actually liked the way the Bcarticle template was putting in the note, but either was is fine by me. I will continue correcting pages that do not have the bc template call on them as I find them. DParvintalkcontr 19:08, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
- I have to admit that I did prefer the way Bcarticle labelled things, but it's not a big deal - I can quite happily live with the Bc template, and agree it's almost certainly better to not have 2 templates for the same purpose. I have amended your bot request to include moving {{bc}} up to the top of articles, as some item articles have {{bcarticle}} after the tooltip, and the result of this change breaks the formatting a bit. --Murph 22:16, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
- I thought about requesting that... it's about time that that should be done again (It is a request from a while ago). I also like the idea of {{bcarticle}}; however, it breaks more important templates such as {{wikipedia}} :). Not only that, but the verbage used on {{bc}} was very explicitly thought over by the crew, which is another issue I had with bcarticle. --User:Sky2042 (talk) 00:15, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Buffs inside the infobox
Consider: User:Piumosso-Uldum/Sandbox1 --Piumosso-Uldum 22:59, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
- I'm going to work on the whole infobox a bit more. There's a parser functions issue that makes it not work well with the pipe code in tables, so some embedded templates are unavoidable. But I can move the parameters to the main template and do the embedding in the code rather than the explicit method now. --Piumosso-Uldum 23:50, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- Check in now. --Piumosso-Uldum 00:33, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
- BONUS - I got rid of the pesky blank fields for un-talented abilities. The switch is just to catch the special cases, like the disambig for Magic, and I think Magic is the only one. Putting curse or poison in the template already links to an appropriate article, so the default case catches those. Either way, if an article like curse gets moved to Curse (Dispel Type) I still have to edit the template. --Piumosso-Uldum 00:51, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
- Putting the image on the right in the box would be consistent with other tooltip things on wowwiki, like for items. I am tired so I will try that tomorrow. --Piumosso-Uldum 01:29, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
Be careful changing parameter names. It will break pages that already use it, requiring unnecessary edits. --Piumosso-Uldum 00:27, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
- When it comes to code, underscore_style, CamelCase, and other styles is akin to British vs. American english. One style has no logical benefit over another other than personal preference (consistency aside), and everyone has their own preference. I only change variable names if the name itself is bad (ambiguous or misleading). Otherwise, I just follow what the programmer in front of me does. Years of software development has taught me to stay out of religious wars. --Piumosso-Uldum 00:51, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
More infobox
For PBAoE, I've just been putting the radius in the range field, but a distinct radius for ground-targeted spells would be helpful, there are a lot out there. It works for some odd things like the arcane brilliance and other group buff which have mechanics that use a similar radius distinct from the spell range. Same with seed of corruption. Short Stories/Novel Template
There are many sources of "short stories" the RPG books are one of them. While quote or section of article may have a citation to an RPG book, sometimes the info comes from the short stories rather than actual RPG material. Thus the novel template is used to point out that info is from a short story rather than just an rpg material. I haven't completed the "short story" article, but as you notice it contains synopses or links to all short stories found throughout various sources including strategy guides, rpg, and websites, etc.Baggins 10:48, 12 May 2007 (EDT)

Delete/Talk
The current implementation of Delete/Talk doesn't work correctly if you use the "reason" parameters. The "reason" parameters automatically put a vote for you with the specified reason. However, the current implementation will put four straight tildes instead of actually putting your name down as a signature. Look through what I changed and you'll understand. User:Pzychotix/Sandbox at the bottom will have an example of what will happen in it's current implementation. I've fixed it, so currently it looks fine, but if you revert it back to what it was, you'll see that there will be only four tildes instead of my sig.
Pzychotix 20:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- Though it may be true, can it be fixed rather than putting your sig in there. Kirkburn talk contr 23:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know what you mean. What I've done is only a minor change. By moving the "includeonly" tag just two tildes over, it's fixed. I'm pretty sure that by splitting the tilde's up like that, the four tildes don't get to be processed together, and aren't converted into a sig. Go to my sandbox now. You'll see how it's broken now. Revert it back to my changes, and then see my sandbox again. The four tildes you previously saw will become the signature for the first vote, as intended. I don't see the problem here. Pzychotix 01:36, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- A little more tinkering shows that through proper use (with the subst as it was intended), it's fine, but without the use of the subst, it doesn't work. Although using it without the subst is not intended, I don't feel that's an excuse to not fix a glitch (which is what my edit does). Pzychotix 01:44, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- My bad all. From [1]:
- "The code ~~~ will be displayed as ~~~ when the template is not included, ~~~~ when the template is included, but it will only be expanded as the active user when the template is subst'd, which is to say when it has been joined within the same block once again."
- Apparently there isn't much of a way to fix it, and I wasn't paying attention to what my change did. Sorry about all this. Pzychotix 04:52, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Category:Quests:Faction
You seem to have moved (or militated for the move) of Category:Quests:(faction). I am interested to know what makes that category more worth moving than, for instance, Category:Zone:(zone name)? or is that on your hit list too? --Eirik Ratcatcher 23:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- (Pretending to be Sky) We are planning on moving all of those categories eventually (including Instance:(instance), Continent:(continent), Quest:(zone)). It just happened that the Category:Quests:(faction) looked like the easiest to start off with. If all the quest pages were done properly (with no categories hardcoded, just those that the quest box puts in automatically), then it would be incredibly easy to change. Unfortunately there are a plethora of quests which have not been updated in ages and don't even have a quest box, or have categories duplicated by the quest box. In any case, the quest pages being updated is sort of going along with the change, which means its going to take a while. Hope this helps. -Jiyambi t || c 00:48, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Both are on my coughscoughhitlist. :D. As Jiyambi said, this was just the easiest mass change we could do. Atm, we're cleaning out the old categories, usually adding a {{stub/Quest}} or some other such template in the process. --User:Sky2042 (talk) 04:20, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Personal Images (Resolved)
I don't understand why you say I don't have a choice as to where or how I use an image that clearly has no use outside of a personal user page...which is precicely why I made that template and used it on my personal images. It's not like I slapped that template on a Blizzard image of Thrall or an image of the world map or something... I mean, if you can find some other place as to where the images of my personal roleplay characters might, could, or would be used, by all means...do tell. Alternately, if this is one of those "You don't own your these images because they're from in-game World of Warcraft stuff," then fine. All I'm saying is that they have no use outside of my character's profile pages and therefore I believe my template is perfectly fine. Furthermore, don't remove the template from my images and immediately nominate said template for speedy deletion on the grounds of "not used". It never occured to me to publicize my template, quite frankly. I figured it was fine enough on the Templates page. ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 08:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- No-one else uses such a template (and literally, no-one). I certainly did not find it necessary for one person to have a template all to themselves ;P. In effect, I was just doing general cleanup of the category it was in and decided we didn't need a personal template in the global template namespace. My personal suggestion would be to use a local template (gah, where's the link?), such as User:Doc Lithius/images. Use of which would be {{User:Doc Lithius/image}}. Alternatively, just add the verbage to the description of the image; no-one else will use it anyway.
- As for ownership, the pictures are now under the domain of the GNUFDL. Obviously, copyrighted to Blizzard. --User:Sky2042 (talk) 09:09, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- PS: It was the wordage; as if, no-one else was allowed to use the picture. Admittedly, I can't think of a usage for it, but ya' never know. --User:Sky2042 (talk) 09:11, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Image:Char tws70mage.jpg
Hello. If you don't mind me asking, why did you delete Image:Char tws70mage.jpg? Seeing as many people have pictures of their characters for their userpage, I figured it is permitted - Was that wrong? Thanks. · tws T C · 23:29, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- The old one is linked on my user page. Silly as I am, i didn't save the image locally. Can't you restore the deleted one? · tws T C · 07:56, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- The image was linked. I created the link with this edit, about 1 hour before you deleted it. It was, however, merely linked, not displayed with [[Image:...]], which is why you didn't see it on the image page ("What links here" would have revealed the link). I haven't saved it at all, I deleted it after uploading it. I'll have to recreate it, which is no biggie since it is a whackjob in terms of photoediting anyway. You could have contacted me first though. :-p · tws T C · 08:12, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Logo convert request
I noticed you wanted the Wikipedia logo changed to .png to remove the black background...but it's doable in .gif too, so I made both a gif and png file.--gOurra[T҂C] 22:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, I just noticed that the new logo in .gif replaced the "old" one. Maybe it's just me, but it might be worth looking into.--gOurra[T҂C] 00:41, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm blocked too: you shouldnt block a IP adress, that is given to several users bei the ISP... aren't there other methods? Fernsehmuell 00:59, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- We've never had this issue. It happens to be a bug in some way; who knows how it was introduced. For the future, if I block someone incorrectly and are notified of it on this page, and do not respond promptly, then you should contact another administrator on their talk page or on IRC. Should be resolved for most of you. =) Cheers! --Sky (t | c | w) 03:08, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of legitimate pages
Why did you delete Amani Charm Box and Amani Treasure Box?--Tiwuno 20:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, didn't see this until too late. I was looking at the Wanted pages, saw that Amani Charm Box had multiple broken links, and went about correcting it. Let us know if there's a reason for deleting this pages. --

Superb Editing and Proofing!
Thank you, once again, for following in my footsteps and cleaning up the bits where I err. Is it that you're on a verification committee, or just a case of "ah, he's edited some more pages; I'd better see what he's messed up this time..."? :) --Eirik Ratcatcher 01:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
And again, thanks... I have little patience for Pcj's "we had to destroy the page in order to save it" method of flagging pages. <rote whine>OTOH, we have a 64x64 pixel image associated with the image. I know there are folks against it "because we have the image in the tooltip", but said image is what, 16x16? So what's wrong with displaying the full sized image at full size on the page describing the item for which the image was made? </rote whine> <stomp><stomp><stomp> Pay him no mind... :)--Eirik Ratcatcher 20:26, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Class mess
What is the difference between class ideas and Possible future hero classes? I was talking with Baggins, and he said that one is trying to discuss classes in general, the other is trying to discuss hero classes. He also said the distinction between hero and regular classes is not very much yet, and the two could be merged, with a section on hero classes, and a section on regular classes. Should the ideas section should be merged into another article, or what? He said to ask you, so please help me.--SWM2448 02:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Shadowmoon Edit
Haha. Your recent edit just confused the hell out of me. I was just about to change all that junk and I went to look at the edit box and saw it wasn't there... and was highly confused. I thought I had super special awesome mind powers to just think, and the wiki edits itself.
Thanks for updating. --IceSage 08:22, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Magisters' Terrace
The name of the new 5-man instance scheduled to appear in Patch 2.4.0 will be Magisters' Terrace as it appears in the newly relased map, not Magister's Terrace. I tried to fix the mispelling but somebody reverted the change. Can you fix it? --N'Nanz 10:49, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
--N'Nanz 11:01, 10 February 2008 (UTC)- I was just in the PTR - N'Nanz is right, it's clearly listed as "Magisters'", not "Magister's". --Joshmaul 19:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Both ways are grammatically correct in certain cases - e.g. singular "Magister's" if there was one "Magister" being spoken of. Not incorrect spelling, just not this case. Kirkburn talk contr 20:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Quest:A Haunted History/Quest chain
You really think the current version looks better than the old version? Organizing it the way you did seems confusing to me, especially with the three neutral quests formatted differently than the rest of them. --Tiwuno 23:40, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Take a look at it now. Yes/no/maybe? --Tiwuno 23:46, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- So if the way I formatted it was incorrect, about 99% of the articles on Category:Quest chains are also formatted incorrectly? --Tiwuno 23:53, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Essentially. If you wish to clean them up though, I should forewarn you that the majority of those pages probably shouldn't exist, as the majority of them are not proper articles, nor are they quest chains of longer than 5+ chains, making them rather useless compared to having inline links on the quest pages. Do as thou wilt, though. :) --Sky (t | c | w) 23:59, 10 February 2008 (UTC)\

Why did you re-add Heroic Magister's Terrace to 10-man progression template?
It's a 5-man, same as every other heroic. Kadaan 20:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it has items of a high item level, but I don't believe a non-raid instance belongs in a progression list. Zul'aman has higher/equal item levels to SSC/TK, and definitely higher than Mag/Gruul, but is on the 10-man progression template instead of the 25-man. It's not about loot quality, it's about raid progression. Kadaan 17:20, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I still strongly disagree that it belongs on a guild progression chart. It will most likely not be something run "as a guild" but in pugs, like all heroics now. Is there a way we can vote on it? The only reason it was brought to my attention was an officer in my guild complaining that it doesn't belong there, and I agree. Perhaps an individual "instances completed" checklist on a user page, but not for a guild. Kadaan 21:47, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Is the Item template going out of favor? I notice you have changed at least one page out of it. At this point, it might take a bot. As well, if I didn't 'get the memo', others also will have missed it. --Eirik Ratcatcher 20:44, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Quest chain names
Just trying to keep it consistent with all the other quest chain pages. Infact, I was making the pages "Quest:Nothing But The Truth/Quest chain", till I was informed that they should be "Quest:Nothing But The Truth quest chain". And some questchains I have been putting the chain on the first quest, and linking to it from the other quests. So...I'm hearing 2-3 ways of how its supposed to be done, and seeing 2-3 ways of it being done. Is there actually a place on the wiki where it states the correct way of doing things? Cause I was trying to be consistent, and now I hear thats wrong...
{T•C) 03:17, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- From what I understood, the correct naming convention is "Nothing But The Truth quest chain", without the "Quest:" in front of it. I have had discussions about this with people before (don't remember who tho), because I, too, was confused. I looked and couldn't find anywhere which mentioned this. Perhaps we should have a discussion on the Village Pump and put the resolution into Help:Quest articles or something. --Jiyambi t || c 05:03, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have been using the form "XXX quest chain", where XXX is some descriptive name. Often, but not always, it has been the name of one of the quests. Sometimes, the name of the unifying object of the quest. The name of the first quest in the chain is seldom a descriptive choice, and my idea in the name is to make it readily identifiable.
- OTOH, I (personally) have been leaving all "Quest:xxx/Quest chain" pages alone until I decide either 1) "this deserves to be a page of its own", 2) "this is still useful as a transclusion page" (wherein I generally remove the "quest chains" category), or 3) "this might as well be included bodily" (wherein I generally mark it for deletion).
- Your own milage may vary. --Eirik Ratcatcher 19:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
