Well i want my page to atleast look some what good, not just blank!

Well, the other way would be to use IRC, but I don't appear on that much. As for making your page look good, just do what many of us do... copy from other user pages and make it your own. When I started I took a few ideas from some of the admins, after a few months I changed into a another direction with my user page. Once you start to get more familiar with the wiki's code and how to do things, you can be more creative. Hope this helps. Had to read that a couple of times to understand what you meant, but I think I know what you are talking about....
Those numbers show the difference in characters to the page, a positive number (+123) indicates more, negative numbers (-65) indicates less, and (0) indicates no change in the amount of characters... even if the whole page is changed, but the number of characters remained the same. It's basically used to see if a large amount was removed or added to prevent vandals get away with the changes they do.
