::: Yea that can be done, I just need to tell the template to put those pages in a categorize. Although I don't think you want to do such work, because there are at least hundreds if not thousands of those articles. --Voidvector 17:34, 31 January 2007 (EST)

Trolls Template

Hey, nice job on the trolls template. I like it a lot. Had no idea there were so many trolls in WoW. --Hobinheim 22:48, 25 December 2006 (EST)

Humans Nations

And similar work being done for the Human Nations, nice. --Ruan 01:36, 26 December 2006 (EST)

Greenwood Press

Hey there, Greenwood Press makes no sense to me, please rewrite it so that it makes sense ;) -watchout 14:23, 27 December 2006 (EST)

Quote:
ROFL, typo on title. Moved. Thank you for the catch. =). --Voidvector 14:25, 27 December 2006 (EST)

Ah, I see. That makes more sense ;)
but please keep discussions on one page, otherwise it's a bit hard to follow. -watchout 14:53, 27 December 2006 (EST)

Southbreak Islands

So Southbreak Islands wasn't an official name?Baggins 18:37, 30 December 2006 (EST)

This is the version of Southbreak Isles article right before I edited the article. The previous contributor clearly wrote "Its official name is unknown". If you look at one of the screenshots here, the island is not named. And I can't find any names from the quests involved.
It is pretty bad choice for a made-up name, because the beach closest to it is called Land's End Beach. On the other hand, Southbreak Shore is along the eastern coastline. [1] --Voidvector 18:57, 30 December 2006 (EST)

Thanks, for catching that. I take it the quest line doesn't hint at any discriptio for the islands either?Baggins 19:00, 30 December 2006 (EST)

The quest reads "island in the South Seas" and "Look for my crashed gyrocopter somewhere on Land's End Beach and swim south from there! You'll know the spot when you see it!" [2] --Voidvector 19:05, 30 December 2006 (EST)

Ahh, then I would reverse it as "South Seas islands", until we lore gives us a better name. More of a discription than a name, and I can't think of any other south sea island that hasn't been named, so it shouldn't be confusing.Baggins 19:08, 30 December 2006 (EST)

Feel free to do it. --Voidvector 19:12, 30 December 2006 (EST)

Dwarven Template

Love the template but needs some work. Ironforge Clan is the main clan during the war of the three hammers. Bronzebeard Clan is the ruling clan within the Ironforge clan, so they too were involved.Baggins 17:07, 31 December 2006 (EST)

Discussion was moved to Template talk:Dwarven Clans. --Voidvector 17:16, 31 December 2006 (EST)

Screenshot Template

Hey, thanks for updating the screenshot template. It's pretty much exactly what I was envisioning, haha.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 09:19, 2 January 2007 (EST)

.kill, .kill

Despite the sterling job you did tidying that page, I had to delete it as it was DNP content :( Sorry! -- User:Kirkburn/Sig 19:38, 3 January 2007 (EST)

All right, I will look out it from now on, so I don't end up wasting my time. --Voidvector 19:42, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Unit Icons

If you save them as gifs theys stay animated. Try to upload them as anything else they lose the animation.Baggins 00:42, 4 January 2007 (EST)

Blizzard Posters

Speculation tags are for articles or sessions concerning lore. I rolled back the change on Slouken and Rislyn. --Adys (talk · contr) 23:55, 12 January 2007 (EST)

Oh, I wanted to bring that point up, since the text of those articles speculated that they were the same person. --Voidvector 23:58, 12 January 2007 (EST)
No it doesn't. They're linked because they're related in job! User:Kirkburn/Sig 00:25, 13 January 2007 (EST)
NM, misread. --Voidvector 00:26, 13 January 2007 (EST)
Heh, it happens! :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 11:44, 13 January 2007 (EST)

Shadowmoon Fortress and Black Temple

If they are the same, I wonder if "shadowmoon ruins" reference in TFT was supposed to be related as well.Baggins 09:59, 17 January 2007 (EST)

Interesting, may be we need some fact checking on Black Temple's history section. The WC2 maps agree fairly well with the relative location of places in WoW. However, WC3 maps are pretty bad. --Voidvector 10:15, 17 January 2007 (EST)

Oh, I definitely don't agree with warcraft 3's map. It haphazardly merged shadowmoon valley and hellfire into one mass. The so called "shadowmoon ruins" was actually south of black citadel as a seperate location, don't think it actually played a part in the missions. This is why I wonder if WC3 team were implying they were seperate locations, but its unclear. Baggins 10:18, 17 January 2007 (EST)

BTW, this is mentioned in the "temple vs. citadel" section of the Black Temple article.Baggins 10:24, 17 January 2007 (EST)

I was trying to do a few fact checks. Seems like some of the history section are from quests in TBC. For example, I could only find the "Karabor" name on TBC beta forums. I put up a need source tag. May be we will find out more after playing TBC for awhile. --Voidvector 11:01, 17 January 2007 (EST)
Karabor is in ROTH too.Baggins 21:13, 17 January 2007 (EST)
Good to know. Given I am cheap, it's not gonna be something I am going to buy. =D --Voidvector 21:32, 17 January 2007 (EST)

Bot Flag

If you're going to create a bot account, you might want it to be flagged as a bot first.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 14:10, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Yea, sorry, just flag User:VoidvectorBot.--Voidvector 14:13, 19 January 2007 (EST)
Fandyllic can do that, bug him :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 16:07, 19 January 2007 (EST)
Done (VoidvectorBot (talk · contr) now a member of "Bots" group). Also added Voidvector (talk · contr) to the "patrollers" group for the heck of it. --Fandyllic (talk · contr)2:42 PM PST 19 Jan 2007
That is one hell of a bot :) I espcially like its category sorting system - more of the wiki needs that "already in subcat" work imo. User:Kirkburn/Sig 03:42, 22 January 2007 (EST)
I like tasks that doesn't require my attention, like now (text replacement). Categorizing actually requires some work, like creating the article list. Yea, botting is good. =) --Voidvector 04:05, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Hakkar

This is just me being a bit paranoid, but I assume you have taken steps to ensure that Hakkars meant to refer to the Houndmaster don't get redirected to the Soulflayer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ragestorm (talk · contr).

Yea, I have watching the bot's contribution page as long as I am not in the game. I didn't see anything that would go for Houndmaster. Most of the pages are guild pages saying they cleared Hakkar and stuff. --Voidvector 16:01, 20 January 2007 (EST)
just checking.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 17:14, 20 January 2007 (EST)

Spell categories

Thanks for adding all the spells to the spell categories :) --Bobson 20:01, 21 January 2007 (EST)

NPC template

Just thinking about the questlong template - there should probably be a similar one for NPCs too which would be easy for the bot to work with (example List of Hellfire Peninsula NPCs) User:Kirkburn/Sig 08:01, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Not sure what purpose you have in mind. --Voidvector 08:11, 22 January 2007 (EST)
Rather than it being written out in the format of Alchemist Gribble Grand Master Alchemist, it should really be in the form of the Template:Tlink template - i.e. using the template I just noticed, Template:Tlink. So it'd become Alliance Grand Master Alchemist, and to improve upon that, the title template should also be part of the NPC one. So Alliance eventually. User:Kirkburn/Sig 08:17, 22 January 2007 (EST)
Oh, that can be done. Might want to add another parameter for disambiguated articles. --Voidvector 08:20, 22 January 2007 (EST)
Don't ask me to edit a template, I'll probably mess it up :P I just steer this great ship, that's all ;) Oh and chop massive chunks off it when too many barnacles attach themselves. Bloody things, they keep ...uploading... the wrong type of ...wood? User:Kirkburn/Sig 08:25, 22 January 2007 (EST)
I will look into it when I get a chance. I am gonna get rid of the easy stuff first. --Voidvector 08:44, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Lol, notice anything wrong with this? [3] User:Kirkburn/Sig 09:05, 22 January 2007 (EST)

The bot is smart enough to not touch anything within nowiki tag. =) --Voidvector 09:08, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Redundant text

Hi, I like the "questlong" work. However, it's leaving behind a lot of "Questlong|Faction|Lvl|X|Y" where X==Y. It can be collapsed into "Questlong|Faction|Lvl|X". A more general case is that many pages have links of the type Y where X==Y. I don't know how hard implementing checks for these would be, but it would significantly shorten some articles.

Another case is XY which can be collapsed to XY. This is very common where Y is "s" or "es". Regardless, nice work so far. --Beep2 08:24, 22 January 2007 (EST)

That is not particularly easy to do with RegEx (unless my RegEx skill sucks, that I don't even know that function exist). But if I start writing scripts using the bot's API, it would be one of the easiest task. --Voidvector 08:44, 22 January 2007 (EST)

bug report

Again, I preface by saying lovely work. However, your bot choked on the quest "Ogre Head On A Stick = Party", I imagine there may be other quests with equal signs that may have been borked. --Beep2 17:07, 22 January 2007 (EST)

oops, I'm wrong, your bot worked fine, the template choked. :P --Beep2 17:08, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Bot editing comments

In lieu of "complete" transparency, I think the comments field for edits would be best served describing what the edit was, in English. i.e. "upgraded the quest template" instead of the regex you used.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 22:17, 22 January 2007 (EST)

I'd rather have it the other way around, since I often need to go back and do the run again. --Voidvector 07:23, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Bot speed

I think the bot might be causing some instability to the wiki - on the IRC channel we've just noticed a lot of errors occuring in the last few mins - can the bot be slowed down at all? User:Kirkburn/Sig 11:56, 23 January 2007 (EST)

I think you should look into throttling. IRC says you did it already, but the bot is making way more than two edits per minute.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 10:12, 24 January 2007 (EST)

Oh, yea forgot to put it on. It's an extra parameter I have to type every time. Haven't gotten the habit of doing it yet. --Voidvector 10:20, 24 January 2007 (EST)

small redundancy to consider for the bot

In image links, "|thumb" and "|frame" imply "|right", making it redundant. Unfortunately the order is variable. It may not be the most pressing thing to bot but it's one to consider. --Beep2 16:50, 23 January 2007 (EST)

The only way to perform such replacement is to check every single article that is there. So, the cost of such a run would be too high for the benefit it would yield. --Voidvector 16:25, 25 January 2007 (EST)

selflinks

Just curious, what's the advantage of converting to ? It's actually longer to write. --Beep2 16:53, 23 January 2007 (EST)

When the page is moved, one of them would become a messed up link, the other would stay as bold text. Otherwise they are pretty much identical. --Voidvector 16:57, 23 January 2007 (EST)
Well, just watch out for the many pages that start with "Names". The "s" is bolded in a selflink but not in Names. --Beep2 17:02, 23 January 2007 (EST)
Yep. it bolds the whole word. --Voidvector 17:06, 23 January 2007 (EST)
Cool --Beep2 17:08, 23 January 2007 (EST)

My suggestion for this is to set it going at a very low speed when the bot has nothing else to do. We may as well get it finished now :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 01:15, 26 January 2007 (EST)

I always preferred [[]] because it shows up in a nice red colour if you happen to misspell the article name. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 06:50, 28 January 2007 (EST)
Then don't misspell ;) Heh, no I understand your point, but I still don't see it as a good enough reason to keep self links. I'd rather have simple bolded text than complicated piped links. User:Kirkburn/Sig 06:54, 28 January 2007 (EST)

Bot on my user page

I don't appreciate your bot coming to my user page and doing editing... And since when were the loot templates deprecated? I almost blocked your bot out of spite...--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 04:40, 26 January 2007 (EST)

And this needs further inspection, but I don't think the loot template is up to snuff yet. Another reason why I don't like the bot's recent edits.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 04:41, 26 January 2007 (EST)

I think we should finish off the loot template update. I think Hob has come around to it, and in any case, the template can be changed further in future. For now, it's best we get everything constant and on a single simple template. User:Kirkburn/Sig 13:07, 27 January 2007 (EST)

Bot restart

In fixing the Template:Tlink template, the wiki broke for about 5 mins - and so your bot needs restarting :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 06:44, 28 January 2007 (EST)

Dumb question

What's going on with Horde questlong, like for example Inv sword 20 [Bronze Greatsword]? There are a pair of random brackets hanging out in the template output - and I don't really grok templates well enough to know whether this is a one time thing or something awry in botland. I certainly don't grok templates well enough to fix it. Luci 01:36, 31 January 2007 (EST)

It is supposed to show the difficulty level for quests, but the difficulty level not specified initially when the article was written, so when my bot converted all the quest links to use Template:Tlink, it simply left it empty. Changing Horde to Horde would do the trick. You can find those numbers on Thottbot or any other info sites. (don't confuse it with level requirement) --Voidvector 02:03, 31 January 2007 (EST)
Ah, that makes a lot of sense, and was very easy to fix, thanks. Is there a way to flag which articles are missing their quest level? (I only ask cause it looks like your bot did a specific pass for quests with no level). I happened to stumble across that one; searching on the empty brackets doesn't work. Luci 04:24, 31 January 2007 (EST)
Yea that can be done, I just need to tell the template to put those pages in a categorize. Although I don't think you want to do such work, because there are at least hundreds if not thousands of those articles. --Voidvector 17:34, 31 January 2007 (EST)
Ugh. Luci 20:29, 31 January 2007 (EST)
