Insertion point for new guild membersEdit

"There is no perfect "point of insertion" for a new guild member to start on an equal playing field with long-standing members, as there is in a strict Dungeon Specifc Point system."
  • I've been thinking on this problem, which is actually significant and very disheartening to those who aren't long-standing members in their guild. Some people spend months as an active member of a guild and continue to be trumped due to rank or the enormous dkp pool of their fellow class members. Additionally, it is very discouraging to potential guild members.
    • Solution: No points earned in instances A,B, or C are transferable to instance D until the guild has first begun instance D.
    • Example: Though PlayerJoeBoo has 50 MC DSP, the guild has never done BWL, so those 50 MC points are not transferable under any circumstances to BWL, now or in the future. The guild is doing AQ20, however, so those 50 points are available for Half-Burn transfer to AQ20 if PlayerJoeBoo chooses. However, this Friday the guild makes its first entrance into BWL, so from Saturday morning on, all newly earned DSP in MC and AQ20 is transferable to BWL by the Half-Burn system. I know this has the potential to get complicated, but it seems to be a superb compromise in addressing 3 of the largest problems in loot systems. [note: Could we program a client interface for this? A web interface?] [note: If we implement this it will change the desc. above under "Half-burn scenario"] [unsigned by Karegon]
  • What about just giving new members a base amount of points to start with? WhiteBoy 18:38, 27 December 2006 (EST)
    • Thinking about it in econ terms, this would be a "minimum wage," right? Based on that assumption, we would probably need to bump the minimum wage occassionally. Off the cuff, I don't really like the idea of having a point cap, but that may be a possibility, too. The main problem I have with a point cap is the loss of incentive once you hit it. Minimum bids Edit

A person can earn about 5 points for a full raid. It's been my experience that (on average) there was not something that dropped for me every single raid; I would guess that it was more like every 2 or 3 raids. This would become even less frequent as I became better geared. On a related note, an important aspect of the minimum bid is that we don't want the point pools to naturally inflate because it would just compound the problem of a difficult "insertion point." Any inflation should be caused by the player's choice, due to deference, etc. More or less just my random thoughts on the matter... WhiteBoy 19:18, 11 January 2007 (EST)

When can point transfers happen? Edit

I'm think all point transfers need to happen before the raid start time...probably even 10-15 minutes before. I wouldn't want to be holding up the raid because people are still trying to get their transfers in. Thoughts? WhiteBoy 19:25, 11 January 2007 (EST)
