The first established Alliance settlement in Northrend, Valgarde is the obvious stop for anyone traveling on the icy continent. It is led by Magistrate Randalvarr.

Valgarde, located in the Howling Fjord, sits on the shores of Daggercap Bay, and is a rough seaport. Inhabited by a variety of Alliance-friendly races, it is also the only place in Northrend where one can hire safe passage to warmer lands further south. However, the town is often attacked by the Drakkari trolls and the Grizzlemaw furbolgs, though the fortified walls hold well.

It is periodically attacked by a group of vrykul and their wolves called Dragonflayer Invaders, and by Proto-dragon riders raining fire from the sky.

Based upon the fact that many NPC names here were yellow at BlizzCon, it is likely a faction.

Two Known NPCs are Macalroy (Who gives Alliance Crest [68] Hell Has Frozen Over) and Vice Admiral Keller at Valgarde Port.

Anchorite Yazmina, who takes care of soldiers in some way, is also nearby.

It is guarded by Valgarde Defenders. Also, peasants called Valgarde Yeomen work here.

History

Valgarde was founded by the humans, elves, and dwarves stranded behind on Northrend when Prince Arthas burned their ships, preventing them from returning to Lordaeron. Thus the Captain is one of the founders, as he was the highest ranking member of Prince Arthas' expedition after Muradin's death.

Inspiration

Valgarde appears to be similar to a Viking town from the concept art, this would make sense due to the fact Northrend's climate is similar to northern Scandinavia.
