At Legion's End: A World of Warcraft Roleplaying Story

"At Legion's End" is a World of Warcraft Forum Roleplaying Thread designed by Zillen. Set 81 years after the events of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Legion's End revolves around the story of seven mysterious heroes who, against all odds, journey to Argus alongside the United Armies of Azeroth to destroy the Burning Legion once and for all. The concept was first created on the 8th of February, 2011.

== Introduction ==

The skies of Argus roared with thunder as the ominous "ceiling" of looming black clouds continued to darken and thicken. Terrible spears of light lashed at the land from above, leaving nothing but ash in their wake. The cold, mountainous highlands were dotted with smaller fires that had sprang forth from the desolation left by the lightning, but its residents did not care. None of the Burning Legion felt anything for the worlds around them any more, as they gazed forth cruelly upon the lands below.

The stronghold of Ma'aros stood unwaveringly upon the highest peaks, a bastion for its demonic children who so desperately craved chaos, and destruction. From it, one could see across the entirety of Argus' surface-at the scorched, blazing, hell-touched plains that were covered with the Legion's settlements. Screams of both agony and delight could be heard echoing from below, and the unholy army of the evil Dark Titan went about its business as normal. But they all knew this was no ordinary time-they all knew what was to come. What had been whispered to their Master by the celestial winds...what the spirits themselves had prophecised.

The coming of Legion's End.

The inhabitants of the fel army's desolate utopia snarled and howled into the eternal night with anger. They had existed since the Fall of Sargeras, since the freeing of the Nathrezim, the very beginning of the Legion. And so they screamed their defiance into the darkness-they refused to let it end now. The unfathomable, uncountable soldiers readied for their greatest battle, the final fight that would truly seal their place in the universe. Their screeches of glee and fury spiralled up into the clouds, but none were greater than the earth-shattering roars echoing from the heart of Ma'aros. The Legion's Lord waited within his final sanctuary, waiting to step out of the darkness, and bathe all of creation in his all-consuming might.

Many miles away, in a rocky, barren wasteland with no signs of life apparent, a flare of blue light not unlike that of a lightning strike lit up the deadened earth. Out of the haze, a group of humans, elves and orcs appeared, teary eyes giving away their struggle not to splutter and weeze. These unlikely allies quickly set up a basic camp, tents, camoflage and defensive weapons set up around the perimeter. Once this was done, the leader of the group took up a small device and spoke clearly into it.

"This is Advance Team 1. We have arrived at Argus, and prepared for arrival. Begin mass-movement of army when ready".

The solemn, grim-faced members of Advance Team 1 stood silently and watched the rocks. Within minutes, dozens of blue flashes lit up the night, with hundreds of humanoid figures stepping out of the shadows.

The armies of Azeroth had answered the call, and the prophecised time was nigh. Now was the beginning of the end of all evils. The beginning of Legion's End.
