The [[zone]] you begin in depends on your race (unless you are a [[death knight]]). The Blood Elf and Draenei starting areas ([[Eversong Woods]] and [[Azuremyst Isle]], which were added in, and can only be accessed with, the [[Burning Crusade]] expansion), are generally agreed to provide a smoother, more enjoyable leveling experience with better-designed rewards. However, any race can level in any starting zone of the same faction, you'll just have to hoof it over there. You'll probably want to reach level 5 where you start and then travel to the new zone.

Animated Bone Warrior

  • These NPCs have an energy bar that slowly depletes over time. It will be reset to full if they are touched by shadowflame effects. They will 'lie down' if they run out of energy (they have far too much HP to be killed). Further, they increase steadily in damage while melee-ing and should be kited. They can also be feared and CC'd by effects such as shackle undead.
  • Spell fire windsofwoe Animate Bones — Shadowflame energy animates these bones, taking 2 energy per second.


Phase Two

  • When Onyxia is slain Nefarian will lift off and fill the arena with Lava. You must jump onto the few raised pillars where a Chromatic Prototype will be standing. Phase three begins when the Chromatic Prototypes are slain. The Animated Bone Warriors do not take part in this phase.

Lava

  • Spell shaman lavaflow Magma — Swimming in Magma deals 5,000 fire damage per second. Increases damage taken from Magma by 2000. Stacks.

Nefarian

  • Ability warlock shadowflame Shadowflame Barrage — Spammed on the raid the whole of phase 2. Inflicts 22500 to 27500 Shadowflame damage to an enemy.

Chromatic Prototype

  • Will stand in place and constantly try to cast Blast Nova. Can be interrupted.
  • Spell fire sealoffire Blast Nova — Often cast by Chromatic Prototypes doing 13050 to 16950 Fire damage to all enemies every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. Interruptable.

Phase Three

When the Chromatic Prototypes are slain the lava level subsides and Nefarian lands. The Animated Bone Warriors can be raised by Shadowflame effects in this phase.

Nefarian
