Voidcallers have been seen in Outland wearing things attached to their backs looking like the top of a Naaru, it is quite possible that voidwalkers torture, disembowel, and exploit the Naaru either for use as a magical item or as a fashion accessory...
Or this decoration may have something to do with the Naaru lifecycle. It is said that when a Naaru dies, its body turns from pure light into a vortex of dark energies. It would not be surprising to find voidwalkers drawn to such energies.
