Walt Hayward is one of five brothers that own and operate the Hayward Fishery^{[37, 84.6]}

in Gilneas. They have operated it for a number of years, but are forced to flee when the Forsaken invasion occurs, coupled with the seismic activity of the Cataclysm. They are successful in gathering their supplies and making repairs to their boats, but nothing is ever heard from them again after their expected departure to the sea.

Judging by his long silvery hair, Walt could be the eldest of the five.
