Frostfire Bolt Mage ability 40 yd range 9% of base mana n/a cooldown 2.5 sec cast Launches a bolt of frostfire at the enemy, causing X Frostfire damage and slowing the target by 40% for 9 sec. This spell will be checked against the lower of the target's Frost and Fire resists.

Frostfire Bolt is a Mage ability that came with Wrath of the Lich King. It is used by Fire and Frost trees. Fire can use it as a primary nuke in place of [Fireball], Frost uses it as a proc from [Brain Freeze]. It gains benefits from talents that affect both Frost and Fire damage.

Notes

It has been stated by Blizzard, that Frostfire Bolt will replace Fireball as the primary nuke for Fire specs in the later Tiers of Cataclysm^{[citation needed]} .

For Frost Mages, Frostfire Bolt is the strongest snare in their spell archive. A 70% movement speed reduction can be achieved by combining the talents [Frostfire Orb] and [Permafrost].

Glyphs

 [Glyph of Frostfire] adds a DoT-effect to Frostfire Bolt that stacks up to three times per target.

Elementalist Spec

Before Cataclysm, Frostfire Bolt enabled mages to play an Elementalist spec. With the way the talents work now, this is no longer possible.
