WindSerpent

A brightly-colored, winged serpent that sports a feathered head.

Wind serpents are, simply put, flying constrictor snakes. These serpents are sometimes found in the Barrens, and they are often revered by local tribes of savage races such as quilboar, who see wind serpents as spirits of the sky. Wind serpents are simple beasts that reach sizes of 4 to 6 feet in length and can weigh up to 50 pounds. While green is the most common color, their scales can range in any hue from dark brown to a faint orange color. Their plumage often matches their scales, but with red or yellow tips. Most wind serpents subsist on a diet of rabbits and rodents, but they will eat things as large as small wild pigs or young sheep. While not aggressive, wind serpents are territorial, tending to attack anything that comes near their nests, built high in trees. Wind serpents are predators that ambush their prey, crawling among tree branches or flying silently out from a dark nook. They attack with lightning speed, swiftly poisoning their prey to death. Wind serpents vary drastically across species. Some are constrictors rather than vipers. Other wind serpents are in truth magical beasts instead of animals, and have an astonishing variety of magical abilities. Magical wind serpents tend to be slightly larger and tougher.Template:Cite

Species

As A Hunter Pet

  • Has high damage and low to medium armor and HP.
  • Eats Cheese, Fish, and Bread.
  • Can learn Ability physical taunt [Growl], Spell shadow burningspirit [Dive], Cower, Ability druid ferociousbite [Bite], and their special skill, Spell nature lightning [Lightning Breath]. Lightning Breath is capable of dealing a decent amount of ranged nature damage. Unless fighting mobs with very low armor or innate nature resistance, a Wind Serpent will have the highest DPS of any pet.
  • Like Raptors, Cats, Owls, and Carrion Birds, Wind Serpents gained new models with the release of The Burning Crusade.
  • Despite gaining a unique skill and having an easy diet, Wind Serpents are not a common pet. However, their numbers are increasing, due to that with new pet scaling system, a Wind Serpent's Lighting Breath will increase in power as its master's gear becomes stronger.
  • Makes an excellent pet for raids. The high base DPS, eating summoned bread, and the ability to do bursts of damage from Lightning Breath and return to you for safety, make for a good raid choice unless you are fighting mobs with high nature resistance.
  • A large number of Wind Serpents suffer from "caster stats" if you tame them as a pet: their stats useful to a pet (strength, agility, armor, stamina) are lower and their useless stats (intellect, spirit) will be higher, making them weaker than a normal Wind Serpent that level. It is advised not to use those ones as a pet, as you can use other Wind Serpents with the same skin without the same side-effect. Wind Serpents suffering from this effect are: Azzere the Skyblade, Thunderhawk Hatchling, Thunderhawk Cloudscraper, Greater Thunderhawk, Hakkari Sapper, Cloud Serpent, Elder Cloud Serpent, and Hakkari Frostwing.
