Wowhead is a World of Warcraft information database featuring a JavaScript interface. The site catalogs items, quests, talents, and much more — all able to be searched, sorted, and arranged to find the information needed. Wowhead is currently the only major database website that has been mentioned by Blizzard in their Community Spotlight.
The website started out as a talent calculator. The talent calculator offers the ability to import builds from Blizzard talent calculators. The database website was created in the spring of 2006; hence, it lacks game content that is no longer in common appearance since its creation.
Wowhead makes extensive use of AJAX for its interface function and requires JavaScript to be enabled in order to function.

The team
- Guillaume (Skosiris) - co-lead Developer
- Guillaume is the co-founder of Wowhead and the primary website developer. He has a ton of experience with PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL, and does the majority of the site upkeep. He's also the man responsible for Wowhead's unique design and intuitive user interface.
- Joshua (Mystadio) - co-lead Developer
- Joshua is a skilled developer, a whiz at javascript, PHP, C++, and Lua. He co-founded Wowhead with Guillaume in high school, and today he's responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Wowhead Looter addon and the Wowhead Client, as well as a number of other fixes, improvements, and changes across the site.
- Casey (Malgayne) - Community Manager
- Casey is Guillaume's partner in operating the site – he's responsible for everything on Wowhead that's generated by a person rather than by a computer. He manages the team of volunteer moderators, editors, and bloggers, and keeps the Wowhead forums neat and clean. Casey acts as the liaison between the Wowhead team and the community, as well as maintaining relationships with other MMO sites. He also takes care of giveaways, contests and promotions on Wowhead.
- Brielle (Miyari) - Content Manager
- Brielle is Wowhead's Content Manager. She creates new features, maintains data integrity across the site, and sorts all of our screenshots. Brielle's fingerprints are on everything the site puts up, including maps, miniboxes, comments, forum posts, and much more.
- Shaun (TheOnyx) <Developer>
- Shaun is a software designer and developer with experience in a number of web technologies, including those utilized by Wowhead. He works with Guillaume to develop and tweak the PHP and JavaScript features of the site. When he's not doing that, he's either working with Joshua and Brielle on data processing or with Casey on community-related matters.
- Claire (PoeticDragon) <Developer>
- Claire is a web development prodigy, who's been working on Wowhead behind the scenes for a long time. She's already acted as the driving force behind a number of projects, including the item comparison, weight scales, and hunter pet calculator, as well as being instrumental in the creation of the profiler!
Ownership
Wowhead was originally a privately owned site, owned by its founders, Joshua and Guillaume. During June 2007, Wowhead was sold to ZAM Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of Affinity Media, after several management and hosting changes.
