This page is considered a guideline on WoWWiki. It illustrates standards of conduct, which many editors agree with in principle. However, it is not policy. Feel free to update the page as needed, but please use the voting process and put the vote on the discussion page to propose any major changes. In the past, WoWWiki used to have quite a large collection of AddOn pages, being one of the first sites to have such a thing. Over time however, it grew outdated as dedicated AddOn sites took over that function. We now treat AddOn pages a bit differently.

Regular AddOn pages

We're happy to have AddOn pages here on WoWWiki, as long as they contain something that's useful and not available everywhere else. Examples include:

• WoWWiki contributors reviewing AddOns that they find particularly useful. Such a page does not have to contain all the info about the addon at all, you can simply link to hosting sites. The important part here is that the content here on the wiki is actually unique to the wiki and useful!
• Authors using WoWWiki as the main site for info about their AddOn. Not everyone has a web server, and AddOns are a big part of WoW, so it's certainly on topic.
• Authors using WoWWiki for otherwise unique information about their AddOn that is not generally available somewhere else.

Please place the {{addon}} template at the top of the page (or {{addon/subpage}} template at the top of any subpages), and add a short oneliner to Hosted AddOn Pages (which is linked from the Main Page). If for some reason you do not want the banner that {{addon}} produces, you can of course add Category:AddOns manually.

Cosmos related AddOn pages

Cosmos has a strong presence on WoWWiki for historical reasons. Though, looking to the above guidelines, one could just view it as another AddOn where there's unique information on WoWWiki. Except it's positively friggin' huge :-)

This goes for Cosmos related AddOns:

• If an AddOn depends on Cosmos, use {{cosmosdep}} at the top of the page
• If an AddOn is optionally dependent on Cosmos, use {{cosmosoptdep}} at the top of the page.

• If your AddOn works fine alongside Cosmos, but has no actual idea about Cosmos... don't use any of the above tags.

Some of the Cosmos related AddOns, primarily optionally dependent ones, have pages here that contain enough information that they deserve a spot alongside other WoWWiki-hosted AddOn pages in Category:AddOns. But far from all Cosmos related AddOns belong there.
