Subpages in the default Namespace
Articles
Articles should never be created as subpages. If a page can not be expanded to the point where it can reasonably stand on its own, the article may be better suited for inclusion as a sub-section of the main article.
Templates
Templates should only be created as subpages if they are exclusive. For example, a template that creates a table showing the required mats, skill levels and uses of bandages that would only be appropriate on the First Aid page could be created as a subpage (see First Aid/table).
Any template that could be used on multiple (more than one) pages should be created in the Template namespace.
Resource Files
To preserve system resources, some pages incorporate Ajax technology to load content only when requested by the viewer. This can especially be helpful on pages that include several large tables, such as Dungeons & Raids achievements. Because the files called by the Ajax areas on the page are only used for this one specific page, they should be subpages. If other articles can use a resource, the page should be in the Templates namespace.
Effects of this policy
By keeping articles in the default namespace, it will simplify the editing and linking of articles in the wiki. However, by keeping article-specific templates and resources as subpages, it should be easier to modify articles using these external pages without cluttering the article and template namespaces with content not intended for reuse.
