Talk Template

The help sections and such kept refering to a 'Post a Comment' feature which I couldn't find at all. So I created this template for talk pages that adds a Post a comment link. Clicking the link will add a new level 2 heading to the bottom of the page, with the specific subject given (and that subject will be put into the change log). Looks cool and seems to be working for all namespaces and would be a nice template to have on talk pages (hence why I called it the talk template). Should be able to make deviations of it to add content to a specific section (although the edit button is always there for that), or a deviation that takes a line of text and puts that in instead of "Post a comment." --Ralthor 23:47, 9 April 2006 (EDT)

Bah its the '+' next to where it says edit, oh well it was a learning experience, learned some things about variables and templates and such.--Ralthor 00:18, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
Yeah, its not obvious. I just made {{plustab}} and {{editplustab}} templates ( Comment  and Template:Editplustab) so you can show people what to look for. --Fandyllic 3:43 PM PDT 12 Apr 2006

Skill Template

Is there a template that is to be used for skills?

How do you mean? A page describing a skill, or a list of skills, or a link to a skill? If it's a page, WoWWiki:Boilerplates has "templates" (boilerplates) for abilities as well as spells.
Oh and btw, it helps to keep matters straight if you sign your posts with "--~~~~", which expands to a signature just like mine:

Server Template

Suggest adding a template similar to the guild and player ones, for servers, possibly differentiating between EU and North American servers, since there are a few duplicate names. -- Erobus 11:04 PM MST Thursday August 24 2006

I've been working on a server information template. My dev version is at User:Rahskala/Template:Infobox Server right now. I have several more things I want to add to it before I go adding it to every server page on the wiki, but it'll have to wait until the wiki software gets upgraded. (I also reformatted your comment a bit, sorry! :)) --Rahskala 17:34, 25 August 2006 (EDT)
Brilliant, no problems there. I like where your going with that template, fair bit of work involved but the idea is slick. --Erobus 3:19 PM 28 August 2006 MST

Outdated

I suggest that a template should be added for outdated articles, so people reading them can bring them up to date, or that they know it is outdated, an example is the Making Money With Alchemy page, which talks about fire resist potions for MC. I suggest that it runs along the lines of "This article is out-of-date, please help by bringing it up to date" thanks. --Shiryo 13:44, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

{{cleanup}} can be used for that. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 23:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Or {{ood}} --Sky (talk | con | wh) 21:29, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Bands

These should be deprecated, and, where appropriate, replaced by {{ambox}} which:

  1. Is compatible with all skins
  2. Looks nicer
  3. Isn't complete mess of code :P

I've done two, but the others need more pages changed - not sure how to deal with all of them, especially for user pages, however, since substing them produces wacky code. Kirkburn  talk  contr 03:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

{{bc}}, {{bc-inline}} and {{bc-section}}

Okay, so, {{bc}} is deprecated now... what about the other two? Should we still be using them, or is it time to see them phased out as well? Since the Warchest, the number of players without BC is dwindling fast. Hekirou 12:48, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Why/When was it depreciated anyway? Doubt i'll like the answer.. *sigh* I don't see why any ilogical reasoning used for depreciating {{bc}} would exclude the the others unless it was because the usage changed to where it would be longer be required (remember some crazy babblings in IRC about how it doesn't apply to any articles). In which case your reasoning would be wrong and there's no need to depreciate the others. -- Zeal (T/C)  13:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Don't ask me the why and how, I haven't the faintest clue ^_^ It looks as though there had been a discussion on the Village Pump, but it's gone now. Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Bc shows very few results though, most of which are in archives and talk pages. No articles. I assumed it was deprecated because of both the shear number of articles that would require it, and how largely irrelevent it is now when most people have the expansion. It's pretty easy enough to tell from context when something is BC related or not, but that's just my opinion. Regardless, all I want to know is if I shoudl still use {{bc-inline}} and {{bc-section}} anymore. Hekirou 15:24, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
It was deprecated; people were using it in more places than necessary. As for the small-templates, using those should be fine. --Sky (talk | con | wh) 23:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

The banner templates are for signalling that the stuff in the article isn't yet in WoW. They are removed once the game is out. The smaller ones are for sections and highlighting specific stuff in an article that not all players can reach. Kirkburn  talk  contr 23:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Ahh, gotcha. Thank you for clearing that up! Hekirou 16:53, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Split

We should probably split this page up like the Newbie guide. We can still have a giant version with inclusion. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:27 PM PST 9 Dec 2007

I can support transclusion. --Sky (talk | con | wh) 07:04, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Can someone make "tank", "healer" and "damage dealer" templates?

I want to use "tank" and "damage dealer" templates on my user page. Wondering why no one else suggested this before. :) WakemanCK 12:48, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if someone has addressed this yet, but what is it you would want the template to say or contain? --Wige (Talk - Contribs) 16:52, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I think WakemanCK is going for {{User role|<tank>}}, {{User role|<healer>}}, {{User role|<dps>}}, {{User role|<all>}}, etc. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 4:57 PM, 17 Jun 2009 (EDT)
