Wolves are indigenous to many parts of Azeroth. They live on every known continent and have a wide variety of subspecies and social habits. Although most are hostile toward anyone who trespasses on their territories, a few unique dire wolf packs have befriended the Horde in recent years. These cunning and ferocious creatures have found an especially welcome home among the orcs, who admire their endurance and keen survival instincts.

Wolves and the Horde
Wolves are a major symbol of the Horde, especially to the orcs. They serve as guards, scouts, pets, and partners. The large cousins of the wolf, the worgs, are used as the orc mount. Many such wolves came from Draenor with the orcs, others were natives of Azeroth.

Orcs and other Horde shamans hold them in high regard. They can speak to them and summon spectral wolves, some serve a giant wolf spirit. Their armor also often has a wolf on it.

The Frostwolf clan of Alterac has an especially close connection to the native wolves, and two giant wolves, Duros and Drakan, who guard their chieftain.

Peon Day
Kaboom!
Duration September 30th
Other events
Preceded by Harvest Festival
Followed by Hallow's End

On September 30, goblin vendors arrived in Stormwind City and Orgrimmar. These vendors sold fireworks at discounted prices. The reason? So that everyone might celebrate the day that was saved by the hard work of the mighty peon and the great peasant!

Legend has it that long ago, the leaders of the two races, orc and human, each called upon a lowly worker and assigned him a great task. This task had to be finished by the end of the day, lest the world suffer grave consequence. Working diligently, both completed their task four minutes before the day ended. Thus, on the anniversary of that day, we celebrate in honor of all the peons and peasants everywhere.

Peon Day coincides with the anniversary of the European Closed Beta Test. It was thought to have been removed from the game in 2007 when the Harvest Festival was moved to the end of September (displaced by Brewfest.) However, the holiday vendors were seen around Orgrimmar, Stormwind City, and Ratchet. This proves that the goblins of Undermine still care. During this event, one-day-a-year fireworks and the Spell nature abolishmagic [Green Firework] used in a Darkmoon Faire quest are sold.

NOTE: Peon Day is only available on European realms.
