Wrath of the Lich King Pictures

I was just wondering who I should tell before I go through with my plan, as I have set aside some time this weekend coming up to post over 100 pictures from Wrath of the Lich King and was wondering who I should warn here that the site traffic might get a big increase as I intend not to provide (i.e. post) the pictures on any other site, but this one. User:Raogrimm2

Don't worry about traffic - what type of pictures though? Kirkburn  talk  contr 16:41, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
The pictures are of serveral dozen NPC and regional shots of the area players played at Blizzcon, along with several quest test so I should be able to fill out about 6 or so quests. --User:Raogrimm2
Just make sure you do not upload over anything again. That causes some problems.--SWM2448 23:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
You mean replacing existing pictures? --  Shandris  talk / contribs 10:16, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think anything I have has been posted as I doubt many spent several of their 20mins periods just taking pics of NPC and towns. The only thing that could delay me right now is finding my copy of photoshop so I can edit the pictures. I actually would of had this up back in August, but I misplaced my camera card and thought I may have left it back in LAX. Either way the pictures should be of interest, although they aren't the best of quality as the camera I own is old and the flash can't be turned off so I had to struggle to cover the flash, while taking pics. User:Raogrimm2
Rememeber that much of the NPC population might change before Wrath goes live. But go ahead and upload stuff, it's perfectly legally obtained material. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 20:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
LOL going to be delayed for another week, as I spent my weekend doing home work, still I got one picture up enjoy! http://www.wowwiki.com/Taunka

A humble request...

I have attempted to make an NPC Icon for a Harpy, and it looks terrible. Perhaps if you have some time you could make one for harpies and kobolds? They are often included in race population breakdowns now on zone pages and we don't have icons for them. --Jiyambi t || c 15:53, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Done, and done. I also linked every single race/mount icon on my user page. File:IconSmall Harpy Small.gifFile:IconSmall Kobold Small.gif ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 20:38, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I concur. I'm not that familiar with template categories personally, but we could make it a subcategory of that other one... or are you thinking an entirely seperate category? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 18:26, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Subcategory sounds correct to me. And those look absolutely awesome, Varg :) --Jiyambi t || c 20:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Could you please make an icon for Pandaren too? I'm not sure if there are any pics of Pandaren Females, but I think there is one. Oh and can you make an icon for a lion and bear too please? Mr.X8 23:55, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Maybe the small Pandaren on the bigger one's shoulders is a Female Panadaren. Maybe...

Poor Varg... look what I've started.... --Jiyambi t || c 04:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Lion and bears aren't sentient they don't need to be in demographic lists. Pandaren icons should be easy as they existed in WC3 (tft), but there use would be extremely limited, and wouldn't be on any demographic lists.Baggins 05:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I made one for pandaren: File:IconSmall Pandaren Small.gif. There's no proper female pic so it's silly to create one that might be misrepresentative. What do you want to do with the lion and bear ones? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 11:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
There are two drawings of a young female pandaren in Sam's personal gallery, but none of them are a good image of her face.--SWM2448 01:01, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I was going to use the pics to put on my toon's webpage. He he has a lion, bear, and crocolisk. Mr.X8 19:20, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Wait if lions and bears aren't sentinent, why do we have cows, wolves, hoses and chickens? Mr.X8 23:36, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh do we use the ogre icon for ogre-mages? Mr.X8 00:32, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Visually there isn't much of a difference betwen ogres and ogre mages, considering that there are two headed ogres, and single headed ogre mages. Lore wise, we have been told that ogre mages tend to be blue.Baggins 00:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh and is there a Demon Hunter Class Icon? Could we use

INV Weapon Glave 01

Mr.X8 00:55, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Can we get a race icon for Nerubians please? Also one for Undead Dragons (Frost Wyrms), Gargoyles, Shades and Zombies would be sweet. Then again, their are not many Undead Dragons and they all look different based on their orgainal Dragonflight. --File:IconSmall Deathknight.gifBuraisu (Talk · Contr) 01:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

There's no demon hunter class icon because there's no demon hunter class... even deathknight doesn't have a public symbol yet. Squeezing two ogre heads into a pic doesn't make much sense. I don't have anything against making symbols for beasts as long as there's a reason... if there's a solid article that could put them to use, it's better. I did make one of a skeletal dragon, File:IconSmall FrostWyrm Small.gif. Nerubians don't exist in the game (yet) so that's kind of hard. It would have to be a WC3 graphic somehow.---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 18:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Understood. Thank you for making the other icons. Mr.X8 23:31, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh and Wowwiki uses regular undead icons for undead creatures like trolls (in ZF), and High Elves (Dar'Khan)? Mr.X8 21:57, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I made a bunch of new icons, including titans, bear, boar, yeti, nerubian, and others. Check my user page. Dar'Khan has a unique skin, but I use the normal high elf icon for him, although the undead icon would make sense as well. For trolls, I'd probably just use one of the pre-existing troll icons. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 22:11, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Just dropping by to say someone made a list of them at WoWWiki:List of race icons. --Sky (t · c · w) 06:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

See Category:WoW icon templates - all the race icons are listed there. We have also started Category:Race templates for things like {{Human Race}} = Template:Human Race
EDIT: I forgot that I was subcategorizing the race icons to Category:Race icon templates, so hopefully soon they will all be found there.
--Jiyambi t || c 17:45, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Dar'khan is not an entirely unique skin, its used for some of the blood elves in Shadowmoon Valley, although they are also somewhat out of phase in appearance.Baggins 17:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Since it's now the "thing" to do, I have yet another image request. Looks nice, although I'd prefer if there was more zoom on the Wretched's face so it fills out the box more or less, like the other races. And for the elementals, a full body shot fits very nicely into the square box, like how it is with the others: File:IconSmall Fire Small.gifFile:IconSmall Earth Small.gifFile:IconSmall Water Small.gifFile:IconSmall Air Small.gif. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 13:40, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

If one of you could readjust both icons it would be super helpful for the species article.--K ) (talk) 14:12, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Well once again, I need your help. Since you have an amazing 40,000 edits all about WoW, do you happen to know the name of those orange & purple, double sided, looks almost like the ceremonial warmaul blood-blade, warglaives most demon hunters use? Race Icons

Hey Varg, I made this page: WoWWiki:List of race icons - thought you would like to know it existed. If you make any new icons, please add them to that page. In addition, all race icons are now under the subcategory Category:Race icon templates, instead of just Category:WoW icon templates - they were cluttering things up where they were. Categories and such

I noticed you added category "Category:Zone:Nagrand". These type of categories have been deprecated (see WoWWiki:Zone category project). Since I know you have a manic obsession with editing NPCs, not only would it be great for you to reverse such doings (use the appropriate subcats and naming schema present already), but to change the categories as you move along to each NPC that you end up updating. If the cat doesn't exist at the point of the updating, that's alright, but better that than using an old style of catting. Feel free to wander around the subcats in order to get the feel for how they are catted and how each item fits into a category. --Sky (talk | con | wh) 09:22, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Lol, true. Although this is warcraft, the two terms get interchanged alot, :p... You should see how many times orc clan and orc tribes get interchanged in first Warcraft RPG book, :p. About 50/50 or so.The same thing goes for ogres even in the MMO itself, :p... To be frank I wish we could use a neutral term for the categories and articles that neither discredits the use of clans or tribes, something that allows both, :p...Baggins 08:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm not exactly certain what the proper difference between the two terms is, but to me 'clan' feels more organized and warlike, and 'tribe' feels more loose and socially-based. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 08:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
To be fair, there is a distinct meaning in anthropology for the two. Tribes sub-groups within clans, at least for some cultures, IIRC. Essentially people could marry inside the clan, but not inside tribes. However that's not how it works in the RPG, :p...Baggins 08:26, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, and it appears centaur are usually called "tribes" more than clans. So far only references to them being tribes in the rpg...Baggins 08:28, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
In-game, the centaur refer to themselves as belonging in clans quite consistently. And the factions are called "Magram Clan Centaur" etc. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 08:31, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Still think this is an issue of Blizzard just mixing and matching the terminology. Yep, found references to centaur clans in the same books that say "centaur tribes", :p.Baggins 08:32, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Fun, look at the synonyms, both clan and tribe are considered synonyms... [2] :p. New mini-icon ideas

Any chance that you could possibly fancolor the female ogress's head from WC1 manual's and turn her into a female ogre icon (for the purpose of the few female ogresses we know of)?

Also is there any way to have a two-headed ogre icon? If not perhaps a blue ogre to represent the ogre mage race? --Baggins 07:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I can give it another shot, but last time I tried, the two heads in one square frame looks pretty much unrecognizable. A blue head would be doable, though. I don't have the WC1 manual, is the pic on wowwiki somewhere? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 12:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Well I have to say, they look good to me, even your two headed version. Both may be useable dependent on if ogre mage is one headed or two headed. Your female looks awesome.

Half-blood elves don't even exist yet, you'll have to wait 20 years.
As for half-night elves there is only one known adult and a bunch of rumored babies. Hardly enough to make the icons useful(and we don't even know where they live so they won't be used on any region page). Although I suppose an icon could be derived from the picture of Feulia with a bit of recolor touch up (but that icon would only get use on a small handful of pages, where she's been linked to).
At least with ogre females we can use the icon on any region page that has ogres, in order to show "the other half".Baggins 21:44, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Half-elves don't all have blue eyes. Some have brown, some have green. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 03:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Zarnks, technically I think that's only if they ever intended them to be playable. We have seen female arrakoa right? They don't look any different than male counterparts. As for females of races in the artwork it actually varies somewhat, there are some rather fugly female trolls, dwarves, and orcs, even humans in the RPG.
X8, he could do it the way he did half-elves and half-orcs, although for half-night elves he'd better off basing it off Feulia as a template to get the ears and eyes right. With half-orcs there was a bit of variation in the artwork so something down the middle was called for. The same could be said for half elves. We only have one known artwork for half-night elves, and only a female version.
Varg, I don't know about any references to brown eyes, but the RPG definitely says that half-elves eyes are usually blue or green.Baggins 03:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Well if elven eyes are carry the same type of genes as human eyes, the brown-eyed chromosome would be dominant, and thus a brown-eyed human parent would get brown-eyed half-elven children, with a hidden blue-eyed chromosome. Even if the elven blue-eyed chromosome was dominant in elves, we'd see codominant hazel-like eyes in half-elven children. Of course, blue or green or gray-eyed human parents would get correspondingly blue- or greenishly-eyed half-elven children. Yay for WoW science! ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 13:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Varg I did't mean to resort to speculation based on real world, I meant were there any official references to brown eyed half elves being possible? Its however, officially stated that, "Like their high elf parents, they tend to have fair skin and hair and brilliantly colored eyes, usually blue or green."[1] [2] This would imply that for eye colors and hair high elven genes are dominant. As for high elves, its stated that, "While many high elves have blue or green eyes, violet and red are not unheard of."[3] It would seem blue and green are more dominant than violet or red.--Baggins 18:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I know of no source that says that high elves could have "yellow eyes". What I posted above is about the only specific sources I know of that gave quotes. I guess its possible there may be references to a yellow eyed high elf in the novels, but not sure. Also, I wouldn't take icons as a way of "seeing what a race looks like" they are fun, and useful for categorization purposes. But they fall under the same speculative nature as any other fanpic really, i.e. not official. If you want to see how a race really looks you basically just need to turn to whatever official artwork exists.Baggins 18:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

But no pictures exist of half BEs and humans. Right?  IconSmall HighElf Male Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 18:49, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Why would there be, they don't exist, yet. I'm pretty sure they are going to look just half-elves, maybe a bit ruddier or extremely pale, and possibly sickly green glowing eyes.(in the same way blood elves don't look much different than high elves except for the same differences as above).Baggins 18:54, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Wait how could they not exist? I mean if one became a BE, and met a soldier in Garithos' army, the child could possibly be alive, if the gestation period o a High Elf is the same as a real life humans'.  IconSmall HighElf Male Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 18:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

The blood elves and humans of that period were hardly very friendly with each other. In fact, I think if against all odds there was to be a couple there, they'd probably face loathing and harassment from everyone else. Not to mention in the time since the elves broke from the Alliance. And anyway, they would be very young children if there were born any at all. Add that to the fact that the child of a blood elf and a human might very well simply be a half-elf since the craving for magic might be thinned out to a point of not making a difference. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 20:04, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
First off early blood elves were blood elves by name only, they hadn't yet mutated as far as the fel energy imbued race they are now (although by some accounts they were already quite mad by that time before they left to help Garithos, even having murdered any high elf that tried to stop them from burning Quel'Thalas forests). Secondly, should also remind that high elves generally hate their half-elf offspring and give them to their human parents or implication of living in orphanages. The same would have been for the blood elves (the distrust and disgust is actually shown in the Ghostlands manga to some degree). So any so called half-blood elves born at that time if they had been would have probably been raised in human homes, and thus would have grown up like any other half-elf culturally (thus they wouldn't have been true "half-blood elves"). Its stated that there won't likely be any half-blood elves for at least 20 years, see half-blood elves.
Also its stated that half-elves do not have the addiction to magic like their high elf parents, therefore from a physical level its unlikely that a physically half-elf would change into a physically half-blood elf individual. However due to blood elves already being mutated, and likely to be mutated further in 20 years the chance of half-blood elves existing and being physically different (at least on the internal level and some physical difference) will be possible. We already know that according to rpg that the future half-blood elves will have all the same racial traits as their parents, including the addiction, and likely the green fel eyes and pale/crimson skin tones as well.Baggins 20:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok so I know now that

  • It's impossible for them to exist until another 20 years or so
  • They would be raised by humans since BEs are prejudice
  • The BE genes for the most part would be dominant

But with half human/ogres, what's the scoop on them?  IconSmall HighElf Male Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 21:26, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

List of <Race> (NPC)

So you think it's useful creating a page for each race? Don't you think the corrected naming should be "List of <Race> (NPC)"? If so I'm going to move "List of Blood Elves in Azeroth" to "List of Blood Elves (NPC)" and "List of Draenei in Azeroth" to "List of Draenei (NPC)" though the Delete Tag pending --N'Nanz 11:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I didn't say it would be useful creating a page for each race, just that the two that's there already (blood elf and draenei) are incomplete. In the past, I believe it's been frowned upon to use "List of..." in article names (Teldrassil quests used to be named List of Teldrassil quests), so perhaps Blood elf NPCs and Draenei NPCs would be better? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 17:53, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Red hair is not that rare among Ironforge dwarves, it's just less common than among Wildhammers. Hair colors of all types exist in both groups of dwarves. Besides, she has no tattoos, and a winged helm is something anyone can wear, even some humans. Hall of Legends

Have question on wiki = search for "admin" and find one that looks like he'll be useful. Target = you.

As you can see, said page is outdated with the coming of S4 (and quite possibly with the coming of S3). I was trying to think of an easier way to keep that page going - I'd manually update all the vendors myself, but I only know what Warriors can get by visiting and the huge lists look ugly - and I was wondering if we couldn't provide, instead of tables, links to the NPCs themselves and a category of what they sell? For example, instead of a table for Raider Bork, we would link to Raider Bork and Category:Horde PvP mounts. (Raider Bork trades PvP mounts for Marks of Honor, for example).

The thing is, that would require going through pretty much all of the PvP rewards and re-catting them for, say, Category:S2 armor set, Category:S4 armor miscellaneous, Category:S3 weapons, and so forth. It's... more than I'm willing to do, especially as my warrior requires a couple hundred thousand honor.

Can this be done, one way or the other?

Armond (talk) 14:35, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sure it can be done, if someone is willing to do it. Personally I never ever pvp, so I don't have the faintest clue who sells what. If it's something that could potentially be done by a bot, you could try asking a botmaster like hobinheim or laurly. I agree that providing a brief but informative list of which vendors are present and roughly what they sell, and move the more detailed tables to the vendors' personal articles to avoid being hit by walls of text would be better. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 16:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Quest enders?

You removed "Draenei quest ender" from Anchorite Paetheus. As this NPC clearly ends a quest, I have to ask: Is the collection of quest ender categories going away? If so, what rationale exists for "quest starters"? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 16:13, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

The category isn't going away as far as I know. I've been operating under the assumption that a quest giver usually also ends the quests they start, which makes noting that someone is a quest ender easier because one needs only include the npcs that end a quest they do not start. Adding quest ender categories to every npc that ends the quests they begin is a huge undertaking, and one I don't really know would be worth the effort.
In Anchorite Paetheus' case, I see now that he both starts (and ends quests) but also ends a quest which he doesn't start. In this case, I've also viewed "quest giver" as a superior category to "quest ender", but having both also makes sense. I probably just looked at the categories while fixing something else and saw the uncommon combination of categories, and removed one. Feel free to add it back if you feel that represents the npc better. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 16:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

--Lon-ami (talk) 17:01, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

I put all of those up in the article now except the bone giant.. it's really just a huge skeleton and looks nearly indistinguishable from the normal type when reduced to the same size. Also, the live Nerubians really don't look any different from the undead ones as far as I've seen. I can see if I can find something that looks different somehow. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 23:28, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Great work, thanks you ;).
Anyway, I don't know if you actually make minor versions of things; I mean, model-wise icons. You know, there are many different shilitids, a fel arcane golem, and things like that, but I don't know if you consider them different races/subraces which deserver their own icon :S. (Only when the differences are considerable, of course. Making another icon for the northrend ghoul would be useless)
--Lon-ami (talk) 18:45, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Those aren't something I'd consider first because they can be represented well enough with the icons that already exist. There's plenty of missing icons to take from but fel golem and another silithid type aren't priority. I see you made icons for "outland" type creatures. Are you planing to do the same with Outland raptors, Outland chimaeras, Outland Hydras, Outland parrots...?
Anyway, small note: The current silithid icon is the one from the silithid wasp, and the one of the wasp is just... er... weird. Anyway, there are 2 species of wasps, nope? I'm unsure :S. Silithid
--Lon-ami (talk) 18:31, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
The article is getting big now, we should probably not add too many more icons. I'm getting warnings when I post there. Those Outland creatures are represented well enough by the Azeroth variety I'd say.. the difference is mostly cosmetic. As for the wasp, yes the silithid wasp is the one that has the Silithid icon. The wasp icon is from a giant wasp from Outland. I tried to get a version of its head but it's really hard to tell what it is that way. The wings are at least understandable. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 21:16, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Earthen

I'm afraid to change the name of the so called "Uldaur earthen" icon due to it being interconnected to alot of pages. But I think it needs to be changed to "earthen2" and the original earthen type to "earthen1". They are both simply desribed as "earthen", and there are no "official" race names to designate the differences between the two (other than "earthen dwarf", Earthen Dwarf). Otherwise all appearances of the second earthen variety either appear directly with the Earthen of Uldaur faction, or the group affiliated with Kuron, in Grizzly hills, and various spirit ones found throughout northrend. I have made changes to earthen page to point out that "earthen" is used for both types.Baggins (talk) 00:21, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

How about changing the icon name to "Northrend Earthen" instead of "Ulduar Earthen"? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 00:32, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Sure that would be more relevent in describing where they are seen, rather than "race". Although it might help to give southern variety earthen a descriptive name as well for icon purposes.Baggins (talk) 00:36, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
That's harder though as non-Northrend Azeroth doesn't have a simple name to describe itself. "Old World" is the closest that comes to mind, which I really think is a misnomer to begin with. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 00:42, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Use the little button over the edit window that looks like a painting of some trees, and you get a wiki called [[Image:Example.jpg]]. Change the name of the picture to what you want it to be, like Quel'Thalas.jpg or something relevant, then you can place it around using |thumb |right |left after the .jpg part inside the brackets, and add a description after that using another | Like for example [[Image:Tyrelda.jpg|thumb|This is an image of the NPC Tyrelda]]. Then you post the change. Then you click the red picture link and you get to the picture upload page where you browse your pc for the pic you want.

I made one of Garona, Med'an and Lothar. Using art as basis for the icons is less ideal than using character models because you're stuck with the angles you get presented and often they are heavily shadowed, lit by random light sources and partially hidden. I tried to make one for Orgrim but there's no art of him in color and coloring b/w pics and then iconizing them leaves very subpar results. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 08:41, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
No problem, I"m not asking you to make too many unique icons. Mainly thought it would be better for Garona since the half-draemei icon doesn't look anything like her, she still looks closer to the half-orc icon (which is technically a correct icon to use). Mind you I still don't undertand why people have an issue with using the half-orc icon, and chose to use half-draenei icon. I mean she is a half-orc, and she does identify herself as a half-orc in both name and references to herself. Other than the fact we know she is half-orc half-draenei there is nothing particularly noteable about the draenei aspect of her life. Giving her own icon avoids that conflict.Baggins (talk) 16:23, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

To end a table you have to use a bracket "}", not a paranthesis ")". I fixed it. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 09:20, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Mounts mounts mounts!

That's quite a gallery you have there! :) Kirkburn  talk  contr 00:09, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Heh aye... think it's too big? I looked over the nice Tabard page and I thought it would be neat to see all the mounts and companions in a similar light as well, especially given that there were lots of mounts that did not have their own screenshot. I think it's a nice way to navigate them graphically, considering the vast variety of them are mostly for looks and flavor. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 00:14, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, it's certainly long, but cool - given the length it might be suitable for a page of its own, split into sections? Kirkburn  talk  contr 00:25, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I was considering that. Not sure exactly how to split them and right now I'm too sleepy to think about it much. I'm done adding mounts for the moment - I'll wait with the Argent Tournament ground mounts until they have their graphics updated. Bedtime now :) ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 00:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Aye, bed for me too. G'night! Kirkburn  talk  contr 00:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Updated Shaman Set Picture?

I was wondering if I could (very nicely!) coax you into updating the Shaman Raid and Arena Set pictures used in the Shaman Set Comparison Article? It's taking me a while to bring it up to snuff, but some pretty shinies would be a nice distraction for viewers until I get it finished. -- User:JustinGN 10:33, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

If nobody else does it, I will eventually update those pictures when I get the time, yeah :) ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 18:38, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Dragon Hunt

Did you get the program fixed? I assume so. BobNamataki (talk) 17:38, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

My model viewer works, my map viewer doesn't, so I'm kind of halfway there, but yeah it's easier for me to continue this now, when I have the spare time to do so :) ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 18:39, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, could you license the images used for your graphics version of Dragon Hunt? Thanks. TherasTaneel (talk) 16:54, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

I'm new to this whole license thing. How does it work? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 04:02, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
hmm, since the options seem to exband every now and then; I have a list with most of them, which I don't remember where I got. Hmm, but Coobra must know where to find them, since I think its him that make new ones. TherasTaneel (talk) 12:32, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

Boss modelviewer images

Just wanted to tell you that... they're awesome! I love them all. You really did a great job with them, man. What could I say? Congratulations? Thanks a lot? As you can see, I really appreciate them Winky Tongueout--Lon-ami (talk) 19:59, January 2, 2010 (UTC).

Haha, thanks. Good to know they're appreciated :) ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 20:32, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, they are! If you do one for every single instance you'll be my hero, man (I don't consider Arcratraz completed until you put the 6 adds of Skyriss, btw; xD). Nah, just joking. But, really, some of them are really art themselves. See BRD. Hell. That pic is worth a medal or something; and same for AQ complete and BRS. A really, really appreciated work ;).--Lon-ami (talk) 20:41, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Hah, BRD was intense. And there are lots of considerations to put into account, like not making the graphic too lopsided, giving the final boss the proper respect, making the text legible and at the same time not cover anyone's face, adjusting each character for rough size and position, etc. Sometimes WMV makes the job extra hard by for example not providing the glow inside ethereals (which is really the actual ethereal) and giving Teron Gorefiend untextured pauldrons, which I then have to manually edit in. I did consider the various adds in the Skyriss fight but I guess I decided they didn't feel "named" enough, unlike, say, the adds for Hex Lord Malacrass. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 21:10, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Aah, well, ok, then I pardon you :P. Really, only Akkiris seems to be named, but who knows, Akkiris could end being a type of sorts. Whatever.
And yeah, I know enough of image-programs and modelviewer to know some images were just hard, very hard. Also, you had to equip items on some of the bosses using player models. That can be annoying, too. I would go mad if I have to search the equipment, uhm.
Looking forward more (if you make more). BT is awesome, too, btw (I didn't remember Naj'entus was that big. Ah, memories xD).--Lon-ami (talk) 21:25, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Actually most of the raids are mostly guesswork when it comes to the bosses' relative sizes. I'm not much of a raider so I try to google their names and see how their corpses look next to players cheering their defeat. Maybe Supremus should be bigger? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 21:39, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Er, I'm not sure. I'm not much of a raider, neither xD. Actually, I always believed Naj'entus to be the size of a normal naga. I didn't remember he was that big, duh. Long time since I was at BT, and I was only to watch around, not to raid. Guess you'll have to ask, or wait for feedback. I suppose you have the original saved, so it won't be much of a problem to resize Supremus without remaking everything again. Until that, let it be. It's fin as it is. I couldn't tell you the correct size.
Uhm, why don't you create a new thread at the forum, showing all your work and ask for feedback by the way? I'm sure most people haven't noticed the new images (I just noticed them because I had MT in my watchlist).--Lon-ami (talk) 11:00, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
He's quie a bit bigger [4]. Supremus is larger than many buildings in WoW [5].Hope i'm not poking my head in where it doesn't belong. :) I think the BT image looks great, as do all the others (I've been watching them go up on the new files page), and I hear ya about the challenges of playing with model viewer. Anyways i think the pages really needed them and just love seeing all the bosses posing together like that.Warthok Talk Contribs 11:55, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
I thought so, looking at some of those pics. I can edit it, shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Glad you like em :) ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 00:14, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
Vargh I just want to help you by adding a touch of Shandris to the boss images. Can I make my own and upload? Tired of my work always get deleted, Wikipedia is free, why do admins have some dictature here? --User:ShandrisForever 09:56, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Well done on Algalon, agree it now looks better? --User:ShandrisForever 10:48, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
I agree - where did you get your version of the viewer? Is it an addon? ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 12:03, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
Good work, once again, with Ulduar, Naxxramas, Icecrown and Argent Coliseum. They're just awesome. Really love them (although Naxx and Icecrown raid could be more wing-distributed, but whatever). Just 2 things:
  • You're missing a few mini-bosses at Icecrown: Rimefang, Spinestalker, Precious,Stinky.
  • Arthas is a bit small at HoR, nope?
  • Would be nice if you mix the 3 Icecrown dungeons into one for Frozen Halls or something :P.
  • The Rhino at Utgarde Pinnacle is missing his name.
That's all. By the way, I think you have nearly completed all of them. Congratulations, man ;).--Lon-ami (talk) 20:11, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
No, Varghedin, it's a software; the advatage is that it shows particles correctly. Should I incorporate Ionar somehow? http://i47.tinypic.com/2m2j777.jpg --User:ShandrisForever 10:59, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
If you could send me one of Ionar facing right on a black background and bigger than the one in that pic, I could swap it in. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 08:48, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Female Kvaldir icon

Hello, Varghedin. I was wondering where did you get a picture on which you based the female Kvaldir icon? I can't find any pictures of females of this species. Are they even in-game? {{SUBST:Race Icon Naga Male Small}}Shargas the Naga (blearrgglaerrgall) 20:29, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

HMM hello?--Ashbear160 (talk) 16:44, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
Hi - sorry, I'm not much on wowwiki these days. I'm not sure how I'd make an incubus or angel as we don't even really know they exist, do we? And there's no image to go after at all. ---- Varghedin Varghedin  talk / contribs 09:07, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

Angel from warcraft 3 but i think they're going to make an angel in cataclysm and i think you could make a incubus by changing a succubus picture, it's up to you.--Ashbear160 (talk) 11:45, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Removed in patches

When something is removed in a specific patch, you can add patch=<patch>, such as {{Removedfromgame|patch=4.0.3a}}. This would put the article in the Removed in patch 4.0.3a category. --g0urra[T҂C] 12:27, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Gotcha, thanks.--Varghedin (talk) 12:21, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Worgen priest trainer

The most important inaccuracy is that the Military District is not the starting area for worgen players, Merchant Square is. They start there and after the first initial quests they head to the Military District where priest characters meet Sister Almyra that can be met again roaming in the Merchant Square in a late quest. --N'Nanz (talk) 13:35, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

What late quest is that? I went through the entire Gilneas chain twice to document the locations of NPCs. Near the end during the siege, there's no trainers in Merchant Square, just a lot of forsaken and a lot of generic Gilneans fighting. The trainers remain outside in the Livery area --Varghedin (talk) 13:40, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I found her in wowhead, perhaps it's outdated info. However what about the starting location? --N'Nanz (talk) 13:45, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it's probably outdated. What we could do is call Gilneas City the starting location and then demarkate which 2 areas of the city the trainers appear in (the military district and greymane court).--Varghedin (talk) 13:49, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

this is what I was talking about. Perhaps the best idea is not to mention the "starting location" thing at all for worgen players. I mean for other races a NPC inside of a capital city is always shown with the exact location (square, district, entrance, even building sometimes). Saying only Gilneas City seems too much generic to me. --N'Nanz (talk) 14:06, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah that could work too. Although it applies to all their trainers, not just the priest. --Varghedin (talk) 14:09, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Browsering around wowhead I found this and this. Looking the path they take (very similar to the one Almyra has) it seems like they are in some kind of escort quest, I don't think it's outdated infos maybe they are instances of these NPCs that can't train you anything or more simply they represent only the characters that move from the Military Quarter to Livery Outpost. However I'll not take them into account. --N'Nanz (talk) 14:19, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
