Feral specced Druids in Dire Bear Form generally require large amounts of armor, stamina, and dodge to make for a group tank. Bear tanks often have the most health out of the WotLK tanks due to the 14.5 health/stamina from the combination of Heart of the Wild (20% more stamina in Bear Form) and Dire Bear Form (25% more stamina).

Protector of the Pack talent (3/3) allows for an overall 12% damage mitigation and the use of Barkskin causes 12 seconds of 20% damage mitigation (1 minute cooldown).

3/3 Thick Hide talent increases armor by 10%.

For a druid to avoid critical attacks from Bosses, druid tanks should choose 3/3 from the Survival of the Fittest talent. Since patch 3.08 this also grants 33% increased armor from cloth and leather while in Bear Form or Dire Bear Form in addition to 6% increased stats.

Thus, assuming only armor from leather and cloth items, the armor multiplier for a druid in Dire Bear Form is 1.1 (Thick Hide) x 1.33 (Survival of the Fittest) x 3.7 (Dire Bear Form) = 5.4131

Armor from rings, weapons and other special armor bonuses are not multipled with the above factor of 5.4131. However, the above talents also increases both Stamina and Agility which helps survive and mitigate damage.

Druid Conversions (at 80 and ignoring diminishing returns)

- 1% Dodge ==> 41.67 Agi or 39.35 Dodge Rating
- 1% Hit   ==> 32.79 Hit Rating
- 1% Crit  ==> 83.3 Agi or 45.9 Crit Rating
