Wyvern Sting puts an enemy to sleep for 30 seconds and upon waking the enemy takes Nature damage over 12 seconds. Useful in PvP as a pre-emptive counter to early use of Fear. Having a second crowd-control ability (in addition to Freezing Trap) is very helpful in instances.

Tips

  • Very useful for PvP as it will give you a chance to hit your target with an Aimed Shot or other powerful attacks, thus effectively poisoning and cutting down your target's health.
  • This spell can be used to crowd-control an enemy for 12 seconds, but the subsequent DoT effect will prevent it from being further controlled. To avoid this, replace Wyvern Sting with Scorpid Sting after the sleep effect wears off.
  • Dwarves can break sleep without taking damage with stoneform.
  • Note that undead mobs are immune to Wyvern Sting.

Talent enhancement

  • Efficiency reduces the Mana cost of your Shots and Stings by 2% per rank (5 ranks total).
  • Hawk Eye increases the range of your ranged weapon by 2 yards per rank (3 ranks total).

Patch changes

  • Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): Duration increased from 12 sec to 30 sec. PvP duration reduced from 10 sec to 6 sec.
