Yellow Brewfest Stein

From WoWWiki

The Yellow Brewfest Stein can be filled at a Brewfest Festive Keg, and then can be used to drink the brew. Filling, hence drinking, is free, and the brews are both alcoholic (inebriating) and provide a well fed buff.

Notes

Use

  • Equipping the empty Yellow Brewfest Stein, then using a Brewfest Festive Keg will convert the stein into a [Filled Yellow Brewfest Stein], containing a one charge sample of the beer from the barrel.
  • The filled stein can then be used, drinking from it, which converts the stein back to an empty Yellow Brewfest Stein.
  • The imbiber get the effects of the particular beer that was sampled.

Multiple item ids

  • (Empty) Yellow Brewfest Stein and [Filled Yellow Brewfest Stein] are six separate items, one empty, and five full with different brews.
    • Each has a unique item id.
    • There are two icons, one for the empty stein and one for the full steins.
  • The full versions are from filling at three different Brewfest Festive Kegs each in the Horde and Alliance celebrations, but the Ogre's Gordok Grog is shared by both factions, thus only five.
  • Drinking from the stein and refilling at a Brewfest Festive Keg switches between them.

The brews

  • The three different brews in either faction's Brewfest are for different level characters. Stronger brews are higher level.
  • Each of three brews available from the Festive Kegs are the same as one of the three brews being vended by the brewer nearest that keg.
    • One of the Festive Kegs holds a brew that any character can drink, the weakest brew in the Brewfest, so everyone can participate.
  • You can fill your mug with any of the three brews. The only way to empty your mug is to drink it (use it).
  • You can drink a brew from your mug that has a higher level requirement than you are, but you will not get the buff,
    • instead you get a brief 'getting sick' graphic and a message warning you not to drink the big kids' drink.
    • There is no debuff, other than progressive inebriation.
  • The Festive Kegs are neutral and inanimate. You should be able to use the opposing faction's Festive Kegs, if you can get to them.

Historic note

Apparently, this aspect of the Brewfest has changed for 2008, or these statements were misleadingly worded:

  • "Fill at a beer barrel" - In 2008, the Brewfest Festive Kegs that you fill your stein at are different from all the other barrels. You can only fill at Brewfest Festive Kegs.
  • "There are several beer barrels at each beer garden (one beer garden at each major city)." - In 2008 there are celebrants outside the major cities, but only Orgrimmar and Iron Forge have the Brewfest Celebration Grounds, and only they have the Brewfest Festive Kegs where the mugs are filled.

Dark Iron Dwarf invasion

  • You fill at the same Brewfest Festive Kegs that the Dark Iron Dwarves attack when they invade.
    • If the Dark Iron Dwarves succeed in destroying a Brewfest Festive Keg, you will be unable to fill your mug from that keg until it respawns.
      • The destroyed keg will get a destroyed graphic with a caved in front, then disappear as the Dark Iron Dwarves depart.

Uniqueness

  • The Yellow Brewfest Stein is unique. Since the empty and filled forms are different, uniqueness might not count, but the mug is soulbound and you could only get the quest once in 2007, so you'll only have one anyway.

Use as a weapon

  • This mug is a miscellaneous weapon, as is the [Brewfest 2008 souvenir mug].
    • It must be wielded to be filled and used, so presumably is miscellaneous so that any character can use it as a mug.
  • Both the full and empty forms have the same low weapon stats.
  • Since they are miscellaneous type weapons, many class skills will not work with them.
  • On the other hand, they have no level requirement, and neither does the quest that awards the mug.
    • Literally any character can obtain and wield these in the current year.
  • Glowing effects from enchants do not work on Yellow Brewfest Stein.
  • If you have this mug from 2007 and acquire the 2008 mug, you can dual wield them (assuming you can dual wield).
    • This may cause difficulties with filling the mugs.
      • If you run into this, unwield one of them before you fill the other.
