January 7-18 2011

    • Death Knights
    • Druids
      • Druids previously unable to learn Spell nature natureswrath [Nature's Grasp] will be able to learn that spell now.
      • Spell nature rejuvenation [Rejuvenation] now consumes 16% of base mana, down from 26%, but still requires 26% of base mana in order to be cast.
    • Mages
      • Rank 1 of Inv misc volatilefire [Pyromaniac] no longer improperly gives 5% passive haste.
      • The mana costs of the following mage spells have been reduced, but they still require the previous percentage of base mana in order to be cast: Ability mage arcanebarrage [Arcane Barrage] (11% of base mana), Spell arcane blast [Arcane Blast] (7% of base mana), and Spell fire flamebolt [Fireball] (12% of base mana). As an example, Fireball requires 16% base mana to cast, but only consumes 12% of base mana.
    • Priests
      • Spell holy prayerofshadowprotection [Sin and Punishment] is now properly causing its terror affect when dispelled. In addition, it no longer shares diminishing returns with fear effects. It now shares diminishing returns with horrify effects.
      • Priests who were unable to learn Spell holy holynova [Holy Nova] will now be able to train the spell.
    • Warlocks
      • While Spell shadow twilight [Nightfall] is active, Doomguards will not instantly cast Doom Bolt.
    • Warriors
      • A bug has been fixed where the Ability defend [Shield Block] ability granted 25% more critical block chance than was intended for Protection warriors with very high total chance to avoid attacks.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • It should no longer be possible for players to inadvertently be locked out of killing a raid boss depending on whether or not they were online when the boss was killed.
    • The battle resurrection counter will now correctly reset if players are not inside the dungeon when an encounter resets.
    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • The hotfix on January 5 to increase the damage of Liquid Ice during phase 3 of the Ascendant Council fight has been reverted. Due to a separate bug with the size of the Elementium Monstrosity's hitbox, it is often impossible for melee classes to avoid damage from this ability. This issue is slated to be addressed in patch 4.0.6 so that Liquid Ice damage can again be increased.
      • Many adjustments to the behavior of various mechanics in the Sinesetra encounter have been made.
      • Fester Blood now hits everyone in the room instead of having a 20-yard radius on Heroic difficulty during the Cho'gall encounter. No more kiting he who has too many eyeballs.
      • Valiona's Blackout can no longer be absorbed by Grounding Totem or reflected. Its healing absorption effect has also been increased for 10-player normal difficulty.
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Atramedes will now reset if the players targeted by Sonic Breath or Obnoxious Fiends attempt to leave the room.
      • Zoning into the dungeon after a soft reset now causes all Atramedes-related objects and creatures to reset completely. The introduction event will replay once the dwarves have been cleared. Entering combat with Atramedes forces the gongs to become usable and the fight will function normally from this point.
      • Atramedes will no longer despawn when his tail passes through the area trigger in the entrance to his room. He will no longer despawn randomly during the fight. Pulling him out of his room will now cause him to reset.
      • The damage of Chimaeron's Caustic Slime has been reduced for both raid sizes and dungeon difficulties.
      • Chimaeron will not cast Caustic Slime on Feral tanks in Bear Form unless there aren't enough non-tank specialized targets available. This fix applies to Magmaw's targeting functionality as well.
      • Rip and Bane of Doom damage is no longer affected by the damage increase of Stolen Power when engaging Nefarian.
      • Abberrations spawned during the Maloriak encounter were displaying inappropriately high health values on Heroic difficulty. This has been corrected.

  • PvP
    • Arenas
      • Ring of Valor has been temporarily disabled until select bugs can be fixed in an upcoming patch.
    • Battlegrounds
      • Teams who are in the rated Battleground queue and have a member disconnect are now removed from the queue after 10 minutes if the player does not come back. The team is still at the top of the queue if the player comes back and the Battleground will pop almost instantly.
      • Battleground ratings, wins, and losses should now always update after every game when playing in rated Battlegrounds. Certain conditions were not causing this to happen previously.
      • Players who do not show up to a Rated Battleground, either by leaving the queue or letting the Battleground queue time out, are not being credited for a win.
      • Players who are removed from a Battleground when it closes due to a lack of players will not receive the Deserter debuff.
      • Players are again able to queue for more than one Battleground at a time without issue.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Darnassus
      • Worgen character hearthstone location is now set to the Craftsmen's Terrace in Darnassus upon completing the quest "Quest:Rut'theran Village".
    • Deepholm
      • Fungalmancer Glop no longer grants experience and now rewards quest kill credit to all players who have damaged him.
    • Tol Barad Peninsula
      • Players will receive quest credit for killing any quest boss, regardless of party status, so long as they participate in killing these bosses.
      • Problim can now be seen from a much larger distance.
      • Cell Watchers in D-Block are no longer incorrectly tagged as elite.
      • "Quest:The Leftovers", "Quest:Swamp Bait" and "Quest:A Huge Problem" can now be shared between members of the Alliance. In addition, these quests now award the correct amount of gold and faction for the Horde and Alliance as well.
      • Darkwood Broodmothers no longer flee at 25% and periodically inflict targets with Reckless Toxin instead.
      • Hungry Ghouls and Skeletal Beastmasters now drop the Inv misc bone 01 [Cursed Femur] quest item when on the quest "Quest:Salvaging the Remains", and the tooltip also indicates these creatures drop the quest item.
      • Restless Infantry and Restless Soldiers now spawn more quickly.
    • Twilight Highlands
      • If reinforcements are not called after 60 seconds, Skullcrusher will now despawn. When reinforcements are called, Skullcrusher no longer improperly despawns.
    • Uldum
      • Titanic Guardian's Burning Gaze ability should no longer put everyone in the zone in combat.

    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • It is no longer possible to outrange the Halfus Wyrmbreaker drakes without being attacked by melee. The drakes now reposition themselves correctly in order to regain the capability to melee the target.
      • Twilight Phase-Twister's Twist Phase ability now has an initial cast delay of 7 seconds, up from 5, and a cast time of roughly 8 seconds, up from 6.
    • Blackrock Caverns
      • The Evolution aura during the Corla encounter now displays its warning visual on players at 74 stacks, instead of 82.
    • Deadmines
      • Shapeshifted characters should no longer be unable to jump on the rope during the Vanessa VanCleef encounter. They will now be pulled out of a shapeshift form automatically. In addition, players should no longer lose pets when jumping on the rope (they will respawn when the player lands after swinging). Please note that until a client-side patch can be applied, an inappropriate aura will be displayed when pet classes or shapeshifted characters use the rope. The tooltip of this aura will read "Delicious Aura (UNUSED REUSE) / Instant / Delicious food increases haste by 10%" and can be disregarded, as it does not provide a haste buff. It's an aura of free word association... Enjoy!
    • Lost City of the Tol'vir
      • Tamed Tol'vir Prowlers now have regular loot and Skinning tables, instead of epic-quality loot.
    • Throne of the Four Winds
      • Al'akir's Static Shock now does 5,000 damage and only interrupts the spell the player is casting at that moment. It doesn't lock out the caster and only casts every 5 seconds or so.
  • Items
  • Professions
    • Jewelcrafting
      • Shaman were unable to obtain Design: Figurine - Demon Panther from Neferset Looters. This has been corrected.
  • PvP
    • Strand of the Ancients
      • Demolishers now spawn at about the same moment that the boats reach the docks in the second round.
    • Tol Barad
      • If a player is already in Tol Barad and does not join the battle, the player will be ported back to the camp.
      • Using /afk ejects players out of the raid and back to the camp.
      • Entering Tol Barad via the bridge during an active battle by joining the queue will port the player to the correct starting place of the battle, but players who do not join the queue will be ported back to the camp.
      • Both the Inv banner tolbarad horde [Hellscream's Reach Battle Standard] and the Inv banner tolbarad alliance [Baradin's Wardens Battle Standard] now have a 10-minute cooldown.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Tol Barad
      • The spawn rates of all three Tol Barad quest micro dungeons have been adjusted to a more reasonable level. This should alleviate the issues players were having with creatures respawning too quickly.
      • The escorted Farson Keep Prisoner for the quest "Quest:Walk A Mile In Their Shoes" no longer engages in combat with opposing faction players.
    • Twilight Highlands
      • If reinforcements are not called after 60 seconds, Skullcrusher the Mountain will now despawn. When reinforcements are called, Skullcrusher no longer improperly despawns.
    • Uldum
      • The Ramkahen Guardians now correctly melee, throw nets to snare characters, and utilize knock-back shots with their bows when they are unable to path to the target.

January 4-5 2011

  • General
    • Inv alchemy endlessflask 04 [Mix Master] (guild achievement) is now awarded at 1,000 flasks, down from 10,000, and Inv alchemy endlessflask 06 [Better Leveling Through Chemistry] (guild achievement) is awarded at 3,000 flasks, down from 25,000. It turns out we overestimated these numbers just a smidgen. More information can be found here.
    • The 7th and 8th guild bank tabs will now let players withdraw and deposit items after the guild master is changed.
    • All six of the guild battle standards have had their experience and honor gain buffs increased to 5/10/15%, up from 2/4/6%, and they last for a duration of 10 minutes.
    • Haste buffs no longer reduce the effectiveness of haste on resource regeneration rates (energy, focus, etc.).
    • "Smart" food ended up not being so smart. Players who have small amounts of dodge rating as a vestige of some item bugs in the past will no longer get a dodge buff when they eat "smart" food like Cataclysm feasts if they are not plate tanks. Other classes and specializations will get their dominant primary stat.
  • Classes
    • Druids
      • Druid ability wildmushroom b [Fungal Growth] is now applied even if Wild Mushroom: Detonate is used at a distance of 40 yards.
      • Inv bone skull 04 [Skull Bash] no longer interrupts the target if it fails to land successfully.
    • Priests
      • The heal from Ability priest atonement [Atonement] is now capped at 30% of the priest's health before any modifiers such as healing percentage bonus effects/talents.
    • Warlocks
      • Friendly Grounding Totems are no longer affected by a warlock's Ability warlock soulswap [Soul Swap] or Soul Swap Exhale. The Grounding Totem is not despawning on either cast, and Soul Swap is working correctly when moving damage-over-time effects to other targets that are near the totem.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • Several Cataclysm raid bosses are now properly immune to pet provoke abilities.
    • Players are no longer put in their own instance after relogging in a dungeon to which they've already been saved.
    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • Shadow/Fire elementals are now always absorbed during the Cho’gall encounter. Elementals are absorbed no matter what amount of health they have. Cho’gall always receives the appropriate amount of the appropriate buff when consuming an elemental. The elementals are unable to fall below 1 health or otherwise be killed, so Cho’gall always gets 1 stack of the corresponding buff at minimum.
      • Shadow Lords will no longer regenerate health under any circumstance.
        • The damaging component of Eruption no longer interrupts Terrastra when casting Harden Skin or Quake.
    • Blackrock Caverns
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Anti-Magic Shell no longer stops Onyxia or Nefarian's Shadowflame Breath from being cast.
      • Chimaeron now resets his melee attack cycle after each Massacre and removes the Double Attack buff.
      • Caustic Slime no longer effects non-player targets.
      • As creature pulls in Blackwing Descent can be very condensed, they now have a slightly higher chance of dropping epic loot.
    • Deadmines
      • Heroic Deadmines now has significantly less trash mobs.
      • The mechanical nightmare section of the Vanessa VanCleef encounter has less sparks of doom, and is notably easier and faster to navigate.
      • Vapors in the Ripsnarl encounter now increase in power every 8 seconds, up from 6.
    • Vortex Pinnacle
      • No aura or strange movement is applied when using the Slipstream after Grand Vizier Ertran is killed.
      • A summoned pet will correctly re-summon when using the Slipstream after Altairus is killed.
  • Professions
  • PvP
    • Battlegrounds
      • Cooldowns should now properly reset upon entering a rated Battleground.
      • Players should no longer lose their Horde/Alliance buffs if caught by a druid's Spell nature earthbind [Cyclone] while participating in War Games.
    • Tol Barad
      • The number of guard spawns has been increased for both Horde and Alliance base camps, with guards now surrounding the edges of each camp. Both Alliance and Horde guards use all abilities that the Furious Hyjal Warden uses and will attack with ranged abilities when unable to find a path, or at a distance. Guards are also immune to taunt effects. In addition, Hellscream and Baradin Guards now respawn more quickly.
      • The northern graveyards on Tol Barad Peninsula for each faction have been moved further apart from one another to lessen the fantastic camping.

    • Bastion of Twilight
      • It was sometimes possible for Arion to instantly Chain Lightning the targets affected by Lightning Rod, with no time for them to react. This has been corrected.
      • If one of the three most distant targets from Ignacious was 20 or fewer yards away and Ignacious picked that target for Inferno Leap, the spell would fail entirely, but the cooldown would be consumed. Inferno Leap can now be cast on players 20 yards or fewer away from Ignacious.
      • The Elementium Monstrosity will now prefer ranged targets to melee targets with its Electrical Instability beams. If there are more beams active then there are ranged targets present, then the beams will start hitting melee targets.
      • Flame Destruction cast during the Cho'gall encounter now does approximately 30% more damage per stack on Heroic difficulty.
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Sonar Pulse is now spawned on top of Atramedes' current location and will spawn regardless of where Atramedes is tanked. In addition, Sonar Pulse now idles for 1 second after being cast before they move away from their spawn location.
      • It is no longer possible to use immunities to reset a player's sound bar while fighting Atramedes.
      • Atramedes' Sonic Breath now properly ignores line of sight.
      • Spirit of Ironstar's Shield of Light was taking too long to break and now absorbs less damage.
    • Deadmines
      • Spell holy divineshield [Divine Shield] prevents all damage from the Sparks in the Mechanical Nightmare.
      • The Foe Reaper 5000 will not cast Harvest on players more than 70 yards away.
    • Grim Batol
      • Trogg Dwellers which cannot be reached by players via legitimate means no longer award experience or drop loot if killed.
    • Lost City of the Tol'vir
      • Lockmaw's Frenzied Crocolisks have learned how to swim! In addition, Vicious Poison was doing too much damage and has been reduced slightly.
    • Throne of the Four Winds
      • Players now receive credit for the achievements Heroic: Conclave of Wind or Throne of the Four Winds if they are dead when the encounter is defeated.
      • It is no longer possible to fully resist Wind Burst from Al'Akir, avoiding all damage and knockback.
      • Al'Akir's Static Shock has been changed from a damage-over-time spell with interrupts on ticks (10-second cooldown), to a direct-damage interrupt spell (5-second cooldown).
  • Items
    • Bloodthirsty and Vicious Gladiator's Chain Gauntlets had incorrect bonuses attached. Their bonuses now correctly reduce the cooldowns on regular traps and launched traps by 2 seconds.
    • Inv gauntlets 126 [Bloodied Wyrmhide Gloves] no longer have any expertise rating on them, and now grant Spirit instead.
