This item drops from Illidan Stormrage in the Black Temple.
TriviaEdit
The name may be a reference to StarCraft, considering that in some levels and the Map Editor you were able to add a zergling hero called "Devouring One", and the Felhunters that this staff is modeled after bear a passing resemblance to zerglings.
The name "Zhar'doom" also appears to be a reference to Zha'dum, the homeworld of the Shadows in Babylon 5.
The first person in the world to wield this staff was 'Ekke' from the EU guild Nihilum following their world first kill of Illidan Stormrage on the 5th of June 2007. Ekke was a well-respected player of Nihilum known for his numerous DPS-guides he created with fellow guildmate Bollebob while also serving as the mage class leader during Black Temple - he reportedly used all of his DKP to obtain the staff.
